To those who think Half-Life should Die:

So far there have been 3 Half-Life games, if you include the Episodes as 1 game. Right now, Half Life has arguable the most compelling GameWorld in the shooter genre. It is very complex and well thought-out, with many questions being raised while others are answered.

The writers at Valve have managed to weave very complex themes: fascism, political corruption, quantum physics and instinctual human survival, into a game with simple core gameplay-- blow shit up.

On top of that, the series contains the most believable, likable, and memorable characters in Videogames, period. If you aren't saddened in any way by the end of Episode 2, you are a heartless person.

Who is the G-man? What drives Alyx Vance to fight? What happened to Aperture Science?

I'm psyched for Episode 3, and was overjoyed when Valve announced Source 2 and HL3.

but you have to be blind and stupid to not see that Nintendo has done something original with the Wii
By game concept I meant game, not game console. I thought that one might bring up the creativity involved in the motion-sensing Wii. However, I will say that while I am a fan of the console (and strangely no longer a fan of most Nintendo video game franchises), motion sensors did not make a public debut with this console. They were around before and were appearing in small amounts around the market, but it did take a giant like Nintendo to bring them out with a standard, popular console. They get a commendation for that, but I won't be raving about how godly and creative the system is. My favourite things to do on the Wii? RE4, CoD 3, Warioware. Warioware to me is the only genuinely funny Nintendo game (because of the narrator that explains the various controller positions).

About HL2, I still hold criticisms for it even if I did say I like it. I will not hold back any of them just because the game didn't suck. It didn't, but that doesn't mean I should settle for something less than what I think I should settle for. I won't give my consent for mediocrity, and whatever awards games, or anything in popular culture for that matter (movies, music, etc) receive mean nothing to me. Ultimately, it is my opinion that decides whether or not I like something, and I do not measure the value of my opinion by the number of people who share it.

True Mario games are the greatest.

Twilight Princess was a fun game.

I've never really gotten into Metroid.

Nintendo's games don't catch my interest with their story or their graphics, but with their gameplay. If you didn't enjoy just playing Galaxy, then you must have a severe allergy to fun. I don't own the game, and my playtime is only about two hours, but as I sit here anxiously awaiting the time I can get my hands on a Wii, I'll be thinking about those two splendid, magical hours. I don't think I've had more fun since I played Okami. I think someone said it already, but Nintendo has screwed themselves over by making Galaxy so fucking awesome. How can you top it?

You can do away with all the shitty Mario spin-offs, but keep the true Mario franchise alive. Unless they release another game like Majora's Mask, I'm ready to blow my nose with a hanky as I give Link a tearful send-off.

Who the Hell wants to do away with Half-Life?

I agree on principle, Galaxy is definitely fun to PLAY, but I think they could stand to stop tacking Mario's moniker onto these games, and start a new genre with new characters. As fun as it was (and I thought Sunshine was fun too, which is the equivalent of painting a large target on my forehead in this crowd), Princess Peach grates on my nerves. I'd love to see gameplay like this with a new story to it.

Also Kingdom Of Hearts. I've never played it, only watched a friend. Watching the new trailer made me feel like it's left the whole disney theme and has gone venturing into FF which is a bad place to be.
Okay... you just got the name of a franchise wrong, admitted you haven't played a single one, and are saying that it needs to die.

Zelda: needs another console installment with a tangential story like Majora's Mask.
Unless they release another game like Majora's Mask, I'm ready to blow my nose with a hanky as I give Link a tearful send-off.
Whoa, you mean I'm NOT the only person on the face of the earth who thought Majora's Mask was brilliant?

Yes I haven't played it so I can't jugde. Apparently everyone here likes it. I was saying that the next one doesn't look anything like KH1 or 2. This is usually the sign that the game francise is going off the tracks which could be a good thing or a very bad thing. Fallout Tactics?

World of Warcraft

Kill it, kill it with fire.

The Warcraft games themselves are good, but because of that GODDAMN World of Warcrack, we're never going to get another Warcraft RTS because Blizzard is contend to sit on their fucking hands and take the money than to actually make another quality game.

I swear, Starcraft 2 better be FUCKING good or Blizzard has lost all my faith. That game better be like the gaming equivalent of ambrosia.

Tomb Raider:

Face it, there are only two reasons this game had any success. They're two very large, luscious reasons, but they're still the only things keeping this franchise alive. When you actually look at it, there isn't really much of a game behind the boobs- controlling Lara feels like pushing a giant boulder made of jello up a cliff; and since when can lions absorb 900 bullets? Having to empty three clips into a jungle cat is hardly satisfying. The series is basically the same mediocre platformer which has been done far too many times, with each iteration becoming less and less original or fun. I think its time for the developers to kill this franchise, or send Lara back to a training-bra and make a game that doesn't suck.
NO. WAY. Read my reader review of Legend and I explain the other reasons why Tomb Raider was successful. Yes, the sex appeal of Lara Croft played a big part in the sales, but this was a technical achievement. I agree that the franchise needs to die though.

Am I the only person who enjoyed Tomb Raider: Legend?
You and all the professional reviewers who were obviously paid money to give 9/10 (ridiculous). Not a terrible game, just average.

I agree with Sonic and ALL Nintendo franchises.

Depending on how the up and coming fifth instalment turns out, Silent Hill could be on the list as well.

No more Broken Sword games. They've destroyed that franchise with the 3rd and 4th.

All Star Wars games.

Final Fantasy - they're all feeling the same now.

All Electronic Arts games, along with the company.

First of all, all license games in the world: Nobody wants them, nobody likes them (Except li'l kids),they are BAD! Then, the Mario brother serie. I dont know why people plays it, i've never like'd them, they just make me angry, and third, WoW expansion pack's: They just breakes the game. Noones in Azeroth because evry player after level 57 moves to Outlands. Nobody wants to go in level 60 raids, Paladins cant make theyr horse quest or something like that. Like i said, it BREAKS the game!

Never kill HL it makes me orgasm ;).

Note: this thread is basically a wish list since most of these series make Millions, and these creators will never give up Millions upon Millions for something New

In defense: okay alot of these series aren't really connected to one another so its not like an on going story thats been raped of all dignity and honor it had EVER I'm looking at you Harry Potter, Mario, and Sonic
grand theft auto?

looks like whoever knocked hl2 ran face first into a brick wall of anger. No-one can say that Half-life wasn't epic, its one of the best shooters of all time. The story and gameplay are second to non... or are they. I played the first half life 2 through about 2 and half times, it had an epic first hit. The second time through i needed something to do. The third time was for nostalgia, after having played HL2 i wanted to go and play the original. I got finding out that the army wasn't there to help and, i found myself bored, couldn't be bothered.

I then went back to half life 2 and played it again, and all i can say is that i've completed it 4, maybe 5 times. i don't usually replay single player games cos its like watchin a movie you've seen before. Yeah it was awesome, but i know whats coming. But HL2 has something that nothing else has.

and as for easier, i would only go with that theory because the hit boxes were very accurate in the Source engine, the standard pistol was an evil gun, not nearly as much as the revolver, but 2 or 3 shots to the head, and bye bye combine. Actually using the guns in the first game was enough of a challenge, i sometimes felt better off with my trusty crowbar.

Ep 1 was gay, no-where near enough happened to warrent it. They could've quite easily started off with Gordon and Alyx waking up near the tunnel with city 17 blowing up as a result of HL2's end. I played it, i wondered why, and i finished it. There was some amusing announcments from dr cliener (or however its spelt). EP 2 left me wanting more, which is what a game should do. People always moan about the fact that games leave you wanting more, but isn't that the point. If they stuck everything into 1 game, you wouldn't pay for its sequel cos it was already there. As for the inclusion of Appature science in it... i must confess i completed portal first, but after ep 1 i didn't buy the orange box for the sequel.

Why is Appeture science in the half life world? will ep 3 bring us the portal gun? Who the fuck thinks they can kill Eli and not get a crowbar to the eye? EP2 carried an excellent bit of writing, and upgrade to the physics in the source engine were the icing on the cake for me. Bring on Ep 3, and the release HL3 2 weeks after that, if at all possible :D
