I honestly believe she is right. Video games rot children's brains, and the internet is even worse.

I am a productive member of society, I have a job, I pay my taxes, I contribute to the community (active member of a church, volunteer at a shelter), but if video games and the internet were not in existence; I'd have a career by now, and I wouldn't have lost so much of my time and used that time to have done so much good.

oh well, that was a fun break from Tetris.

This is actually very funny - and it exposes a flaw in theological arguments.

According to most Christians I have met, they claim that their god is ALL POWERFUL. As in, COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY POWERFUL, and there is literally NOTHING that can happen without his allowance or say so.

Therefore, if the Devil is creating games, God must be the one allowing it. Therefore, logically, games must be part of God's plan - which means that God wants kids to be exposed to video games.

So - either Games are a part of god's plan, or god is not as all powerful as he's made out to be. Or he just doesn't care. Out of all those three conclusions, the fact that God just doesn't give a damn about any of us seems to make the most sense to me, if I had any reason to believe a god existed in the first place.

I mean come on - look around you. If there really was a creator, not only can he NOT be very proud of this danger-infested and deeply flawed world, he's obviously clocked out to lunch and forgotten all about us.

Wow, people like this make me ashamed to be associated with them. Not all Christians are this ignorant. Nor are they all this vocal. Really, stupid Christians make the rest of us look bad. These are just the ones that, unfortunately, get the most attention. She has the right to raise her kid how she wants, because he'll most likely rebel anyway, but she shouldn't be writing for a blog. They should have some sort of editor there so her brand of shit can't poison other parents.

Actually, I really hope this kid rebels soon and starts listening to rock music, playing games away from home, watching cartoons and other blasphemous arts, because otherwise he'll probably end up just like her.

EDIT: Now that I've read the whole article, I can safely say that this woman is a psycho. I can see why her son is irritable and pale when he comes home AND why kids only spend a few seconds at their place before wanting to leave: because of her. And she will never realize this. But, kudos to the kid for taking baby steps and asking for a Wii.

Don't forget that he must also start reading Harry Potter books in order to completely rebel.

EDIT: Besides, most kids are going to learn to grow out of video games to a point. For a long time all I wanted to do was sit around and play video games, but then I learned "hey the world's moving do your part or get outta the way." So I (partly) learned how to be an adult and moved along, but I still enjoy video games every chance I get. they are a form of escape just like movies, T.V.'s and (shocker!) books. They are all the same. So those are my two cents, have fun with your boring 1950's life crazy lady. I'm gonna go kill some baddies, sleep and work tomorrow. And I'm gonna enjoy it.

Ironically the original Big Bang theory was thought up by a monk who said that when God spoke it had so much power behind it an explosion happened, creating the universe.

the thing is people are going to find scapegoats for problems instead of just blaming them on people/themselves, I mean they have used Dungeons and Dragons, Rock music, TV, Movies, Games, internet, Trading card games, seriously I have heard stories of people going on about kids getting stabbed over pokemon cards. Either ignore them or troll them that's all you can do.

He was allowed to play the game but because he was religious his mum said he was not allowed to level up his magic skill (which is pretty much essential in Runescape), because magic is the devils tool.
