On 360, spending an entire game of TF2 begging my team to listen to me and actually organize a strategy. No reply from anyone all game long, until I decide that no one actually has mikes. I shot a Spy standing right behind a Sniper. The sniper, who turned out to be host, screamed "YOU STOLE MY KILL!" in a 10-year-old's voice and shut down the server.

It's bullshit like that which made me quit TF2. That was my last game, until it's released for Mac with all the updates. I wish my PC could run it.

Was playing Metal Gear Solid on my PS2, in which I couldn't save. I died about more than halfway through the game and I accidently hit exit instead of continue. I banged my head on the wall for a couple of hours.

Any game that has
(1) innately borked rules,
(2) impossible difficulty, or
(3) games that crash/don't work properly.

Ex:
(1) In Mount and Blade: Warband, AI lords generally hold 1.5x to 5x as many troops as you, and they'll often gang up on you (so you'll see fights where you have 80 guys against 1000+). Also, when you have your own kingdom you lose relation with your own lords when you give a town/castle to one of them

(2) Super Ghouls & Ghosts, Ninja Gaiden (xbox)

(3) I recently bought King Arthur: The Role Playing wargame, which I enjoyed, but which has a highly-reported crash which occurs after battles take place. Battles can take a long time so you often waste 1-2 hours in the process.

I've been trying to convert my wife to the Dark Side for a while, and most of my success has come from her enjoying watching me play Fatal Frame. I think she just likes watching me freak out, but that's another topic.
One of the seemingly random games she likes playing herself is Dark Cloud, though I'll never figure out why. It reducing me to gibbering Angrish every time she hits a sticky bit and asks me for help. Granted, she may just be doing it wrong, but it feels like Fake Longevity [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FakeLongevity] at its finest, especially when it forces you to either trudge through levels populated by big tankish dragony things with that damnable cat-girl and her tiny slingshot, or just start the whole game over with her once you get her.
As for a game that I actually chose to play, Dead Rising. I love 95% of the game, even the strict time limits most people complain about. But as far as I'm concerned, the game ends when
Frank and Isabella steal the Army Jeep/HMMWV thing. The tedium of the tank fight, and the sheer dickery of the "That One Boss" fight with Brock, followed by the Gainax ending all got a big "Fuck this" from me. Now I just turn it off and pretend they drive off into the sunset. It works out best for everyone in my house that way.

[sup]Wow. TVTropes really does ruin your life.[/sup]

I know Mercs 2 has been mentioned before, but the terrible buggyness of the PC port and the refusal to release a patch had me wanting to throw my monitor at someone.

halo 3 multiplayer - i dont know what it is about that game but it ruins my day

waw - veteran mode... if the nazis were that good at shooting and could hit a penny from 2kms with a grenade we'd all be speaking german

bfbc1 - teammates that dont understand how to win rush as attackers brought my blood to a boil along with the lag and high number of rounds it took to kill someone

bc2 - dough head teammates again and people that camp armour/helos all game

l4d(2) - the ai director wants to see me suffer...

mw2 - lag and completely bizarre things that happen like when i knifed someone and put him in last stand the other day

Its not actually that hard once you get used to it. I found the later areas easier than my first playthrough.

Call of Duty: World at War. Veteran. Heart of the Reich.
They should have called it 'grenade' difficulty.

Getting the legendary weapons in FF10

My screams of frustration were heard throughout the house.

Also all of freaking Seymour's forms. I kept getting murdered by Flare without knowing what was going on, and finally grinded enough to get past him, only to get stuck again....

Oh dude I know...the weapons themselves were easy to get, but the upgrades for them....dodging 200 lightning bolts? Win a chocobo race with 0 seconds left? WHAT!?

I remember the bridge collapsing scene in Uncharted 2... Took a lot of tries.

But what I hated was whenin the game you had to survive wave after wave of bad guys after the train wreck... that took multiple tries on the Crushing setting.

But let me remind you: Remember Half-Life 2 when your given three turrets, a small area with four entrances, and wave after wave of Combine soldiers? Here's the thing: Don't ever try putting the turrets in a tactiful place, they have short range. Just place the turrets in front of the entrances, and when they're inevitably knocked over and now three different shotgunners are charging you, either take the piss and die or turn on godmode.

For me it was that one level in Bad Company 2 where you had to protect the satellite from the waves of Russian infantry. You kill all the guys, then a fucking helicopter comes in that you CAN'T FUCKING HIT!I eventually said "fuck it",turned on the online mode, then as soon as I start playing,I get sniped.about 500 times.Spawn,die,re-spawn,die,re-spawn,die,rage quit.
It was not a good day.

Two words: Sniper Rifle. It makes Insane not all that difficult.
