Yeah, it's always nice to do other stuff while you're watching. And I'm glad you watched GTO, what were your thoughts on it?

Might want to look into the English Version of Azumanga Daioh. Massively entertaining.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

If you're going to watch Azumanga Daioh, watch it with English subtitles; the voice actors are HORRIBLE.
AGREED

Jesus Christ, they made my ears bleed. A few episodes weren't available in subs...I don't want to talk about it.
GTO just kept being entertaining, there wasn't many slow parts to it. I didn't make me laugh but it was humerous. It was good that it had 43 episodes, a lot of things I see only have 12-24.

For comedy series, I would recommend Azumanga Daioh, Cromartie High School and Tentai Senshi Sunred as shows which put some actual thought into their humor and don't just go crazy for no reason or reference other things. If you want action and excellent character development in addition to humor, I would recommend the TV series and OAVs of Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor (the movies are excellent, but not funny).

The absolute funniest anime tends to be the so-bad-it's-good stuff like Crystal Triangle, Baoh and MD Geist. The kind of thing you get together with some friends and mock mercilessly.

Whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan. It's a terribly written mishmash of overused cliches, poorly animated gore and pedophilia (which is NOT mitigated by the fact that it tries to be self-aware about this).

"Seitokai no ichizon" is quite funny, I would also recommend that you have a good look at "Gintama" too, majority of it is side splitting stuff. Though be prepared for subs with those two shows, it just fits a lot more natural with the Japanese audio to be honest
Yup Seitokai is one of my favs ^_^
That episode where Kens trapped in the locker cracked me up.

Also, I think it was you that recommended Seitokai to me a while back, so I believe thanks are in orer for that. Arigato Gozaimasu

Martian Successor Nadesico (not the OVA - the anime is funny, the OVA is dark and angsty)
It's a movie, not an OVA.
And it's the sole reason they abandoned season 2. =(
It was a proper movie? Ah, Wikipedia says you're right.

My bad. Must've misremembered.

One anime I used to always watch was Get Backers. It does a pretty decent job balancing comedy and action. I've never heard the japanese version so as far as I know the english version's awesome!

Ah I've already seen GTO, not too long ago actually! Yeah subs aren't bad, but in english it means I can still do things like play games and browse forums on the other screen and still follow it.

*whispers*

Shh, shh, shh. Daddy's got you. Everything will be okay.

Seriously though, they fucked up on the voices so badly that all the characters lost their personality.
*sucks thumb in fetal position*

Too true, I spent more time cringing than anything. The one with the out-of-place southern accent and the one with the ridiculously high voice particularly annoyed me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a dub hater, in fact I'll take a good dub over a sub any day. But I'm afraid I'll never recover from that...abomination.
A good dub almost makes an anime for me.

Take Code Geass, for example. All the voices felt in place and perfect for their characters.

Some others, though... ouch.

Love Hina, Azumanga, etc.

I recently watched an anime called Ghost Stories, an anime which has had it's script switched to a commedy one for the english version. It's funny as hell.

But now I've got nothing to watch, does anyone know any hilarious anime like this? Preferebly english as I don't always have my eyes on the screen to be reading subtitles.
Wow, that link make me see Twilight in a better light. Not by much, it's still torture but now, i found something worse. USA trying to dub something. Porn and racism, that's all there is!

Ugh, I couldn't stand the bad voice acting in the Ghost Stories dub.

Excel Saga:
Photon:
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu:
Juubei-Chan: (The dub & the sequel both suck).
Gokusen (The dub has ill-fitting voices).
Kodomo no Omocha:
Chou Gals: (Despite the inaccurate translations, the dub is way better).

Can't find episode uploads for Goldfish Warning (fansub) or Shinesman (Dub).

Haha think I'm going to go through Excel Saga for the time being, it's different to ghost stories but still breaks the third(fourth?) wall. Pretty crazy too which is good.
