Bioshock

/thread
I can't see how people thought Bioshock was a bad ending!
The boss fight was pretty damn epic for what I was expecting (I was anticipating a shotgun match with you-know-who just like any other FPS would do, but no, SUPER TITAN GRAWR!) As for the actual ending sequences I'll warn for spoilers but:
The evil ending wasn't that good- going surface side with splicer powers and killing things, no big surprise. The good ending though I really enjoyed. Havin saved the little girls you see a selection of scenes from their new lives out of Rapture, youth and a wedding, and finally together at their adopted fathers bedside [the protagonist, if you hadn't guessed]
How many FPS's end with the main character becoming a beloved father figure? None. That is why Bioshocks ending was freaking awesome.
It's not that Bioshock had a bad ending as much as the ending was just okay while the rest of the game was amazing. The final boss was also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy. The problem is that the plot twist about 2/3 of the way into the game was so amazingly fantastic that the game's final missions could never live up to it.

thats not the point dude, they weren't aiming for realism. The MW2 was the greatest ending ever and left it wide open for a 3rd installment
I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Copying almost verbatim the great ending of the previous entry isn't great. It's disappointing and feels like a cop-out. I could list anything to prove my point here, but I'll go with Killer 7. Sure, it makes absolutely no sense when you see it for the first time, but it leaves a lasting impression on you that makes you think for months to come. The more you think about it, the more sense it makes, but there are no absolutes. We'll probably never know what it all means, and that's the greatest thing about it.

As for mine, I'll have to go with Fallout 3, simply because...
...it kills off the player character of a sandbox game with absolutely no warning that it might happen until it's far too late to turn back. If it were any other type of game, I'd be cool with it. (Also, there's the ever-present argument that you could have sent pretty much any of your radiation-immune party members in, but that's a whole different debate.)

Fable 2, it was abrupt and boring, and decidedly un-epic

This quest took me like 30 years, and you're not even gonna transform into a dragon!

The Darkness.

Don't really remember it, but it sucked.
Really, I loved that ending!

Well, I guess "loved" is too strong a word, as it did leave a lot unanswered, and nothing much was really concluded, but I still found the concept of damning yourself by choice to be quite interesting. Also, it was one of the few endings to elicit an emotional response from me (another being HL2: Ep 2, and Planescape: Torment).

A crummy ending, let's see... oh yeah, Starcraft: Brood War. Kerrigan is such a *****.

Fallout 3's was kind of like that. I really liked the ending, story-wise, but it was sort of anticlimactic.
Damn ninja's.

I hated Fallout 3s ending mainly because you cant continue afterwards.
With broken steel there is no ending. Asscreed 2 was one of the worst endings
I haven't gotten any of the expansion packs for Fallout 3.

And don't you dare talk bad about the Asscreed 2 ending.
yeah i just got them with the game of the year edition, so ill have to have my own opinion eventually on the broken steel

and i agree completely, whats so bad about it? its major cliffhanger that could go off in so many directions from there, its sure as hell gonna get me to buy the next assassins creed game, what were you expecting, to found america? it was so obvious it was going to be a cliffhanger but i loved its twist

Sonic and the Black Knight, without a doubt. I still have no idea what the hell the moral was supposed to be. That there's no point in living without death? I guess? WHAT IS THIS DOING IN A SONIC GAME!?
The best question is...WHAT THE HELL IS SONIC DOING WITH A SWORD!?

Bioshock and Bully/Canis Canem Edit.
Agreed. They both ended in the "everything is back to normal, life is goooood" type of way. Depends how you played BioShock actually....

Also Borderlands. The ninja ClapTrap thing was pretty funny but you come all that way for diddly squit!

Worst ending?
XIII on the PC "To be continued. . . " never was as far as I know
Yeah, that one just sucked, especially due to the lack of a sequel. At least the comic books did continue past that point, however, so you could at least read those if you really have to find out what happens next.

OT: Perfect Dark Zero had a very underwhelming ending. Even though I actually enjoyed the game overal, the piss easy final boss combined with the terribly corny ending was very disapointing.
At least I only got it for $5 along with an awesome smiling crab gamerpic (due to it being the collectors edition), though.

Unreal Tournament 3, then again the plot sucked too so... yeah.

Modern Warfare 2 was overly long winded

True Crime: Streets of LA ending was epicly wtf

Farenheit (AKA Indigo Prophecy) SERIOUSLY WTF

Black and White II's evil ending was a major anti-climax.

Gears of War. Might have been 'cause my sound cut out, but still it didn't look like it would have been much more entertaining with sounds. Also, Jericho. Loved the game but ending was boring. Oh, and Black. They made it sound like you were just going to get the guy and then the game ended.

The ending of MW2 was so immersive that i nearly felt it when your head is bashed against a car.
I was screaming internally when
Shepard betrayed me and Ghost
, and almost yelling out loud with rage when I
finally killed the son of a *****
at the end.

It was UNBELIEVABLY immersive.

Yeah, i actually never saw the propper ending, i got fed up trying to beat the last part.. and went down (where invincible soldiers fight and ignore you, just backtrack a bit) and STRELOK was just.. there, not doing anything.

So i just shot him, then BAM! - Credits.

Fable 2, Fallout 3 before Broken Steel, Oblivion, and Halo 2 are the ones that come to mind. MUA2 was kinda meh. Same with Gears of War.

Bioshock. Easily.

Brilliant game, incredible twist, shitty final quarter and a god aweful ending.

After the famous plot twist I think they just didn't know what to do.
The ending wasn't awful, but for such a good game I was kind of let down. Borderlands was supposed to have this strong buildup to the final boss and then the final boss was insanely easy and the ending was disappointing.

Regarding Black, I'm totally with you there... I would have just loved to walk up and absolutely unleash my .44 Magnum into the bad guy's face.
