game series you hate but used to love

Most JRPG's, I remember the good old days of Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Breath of Fire, Secret of Mana... etc all of them with epic story and characters

And now they are a bunch of girls who act incredibly shallow or boys who look like girls with reused plots and EMO actitude... Damn.

I certainly wouldn't say I hate them, but I used to love the Final Fantasy series. Now I find myself caring less and less about each title that comes out.

Tag me in with the other FF peeps in here.

Final Fantasy was amazing back in the day, I haven't been able to enjoy one since 8.

9 the main character was a Furrie.
10 didn't feel like a game, it felt like an endless cut-scene that occasionally demanded input from me.
10/2 was just fan service of a game I didn't enjoy to begin with.
11 doesn't count. FF should be about the story, an MMO throws the story out the window and replaces it with endless grind.
12 I didn't buy, by that point I had stopped caring. It could have been the best FF game ever for all I know, I just can't be bothered to find out.

I went through an FPS phase a while back... Ugh. Good to know that I've gotten out of it, except for the occasional Valve game, or Bioshock.

Aside from the ones already mentioned like Spyro (why?), Fallout, and a few of the classic old JRPG's, I'd have to say GTA.

I was going to say Final Fantasy, but now I'll have to jump on Arfreid's band wagon and say JRPG's in general.

Final Fantasy's stories are confused heaps of unexplainable, inhuman melodrama and anti-climax.

Voice acting. No, just stop it please. Don't spend half your budget on making spikey haired, tween guffbag #182362 sound like a self centered, saccharin fist magnet. I was perfectly happy reading a box of text, actions speak louder than words, and as it's left to the imagination of the player, usually with more potency in the delivery of key plot points and enjoyment for the man pushing the buttons i.e. doesn't want to make you let off c4 in your aural canal.

Combat systems. The one redeeming feature of FFXIII (however severely nullified by the progression mechanic). Chrono trigger had it spot on for turn based battles, FFX did it pretty damn well, but Lost Odyssey was about as enjoyable and engaging as self castration.

Used to really love Diablo, but the closer D3 dawns and the more info is released the more I think that franchise may be dead to me.

COD, I used to like it. But after like half a year after CoD 4 came out and all the people at my school got it, they wouldn't SHUT HE FUCK UP ABOUT IT! it got worse after MW2 and now literally every day I hear "I got a Chopper gunner" "I got my 27th nuke" and during Guidance class we had to explain something and we had to listen, then one of the kids just starts going on about CoD as loud as possible for 10 minutes straight. I like to talk about game's a lot, but ill vary a lot, Ill talk about Zelda then the next day talk about L4D but I just talk games in general . that's part of my story on why Xbox and CooD made my generation of kids Short,gay and ugly. ( Im not like that because I play badass games on gamecube and N64)

i used to love spyro the dragon. until insomniac (i believe it was insomniac) gave it away to a different company. Spyro just hasnt been the same since

TBH, I'm sorta sick of Final Fantasy. Sure, they're fun and all, but c'mon. Thirteen of them?

Spyro, Crash, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts (revenge of the retcons), Pokemon, Halo, Megaman (some of the non sidescroller stuff), Guitar Hero, Jak (3 had a great conclusion. Leave it alone), Mario, Legend of Zelda (it's starting to bleed together), Destroy all Humans, the Soul Series, Tales of Symphonia (actually, I hated it when it became a series instead of a single game, so that might be cheating), Xenosaga (if only because I know there should have been more), Spiderman, somewhat Prince of Persia, and Star Wars games in general (I loved KOTOR and Republic Commando)

Strangely, I actually still like Final Fantasy.
