dont be angry cuz you could never figure out how to beat the final boss in metroid prime or someone playing as roy in smash bros.
but seriously, except for the first two, those were pretty good games.
Luigi's Mansion - Meh, that's a given. I didn't care for it too much either.

But Eternal Darkness? Woah buddy, you best be stepping back.
What didn't you like about it, good sir?

The GameCube is OK. I don't know what the deal with the c-stick is. It's like a watered down analog stick.

whatever

My problem is not with the GameCube itself but with the fact that there are barely any game out there for it that I'm interested in.

Um yeah you've probably heard it from people that didn't have it.
Little cube gave me years of entertainment (note that I am someone easily amused)

Gamecube was good. There is little more to be said.
It had such great standouts in it's modest line up.

Gamecube: Better than the Wii.

But virtually nothing beats the PS2 of that generation, or any generation before it. (And the PS2 beats the Wii)

Xboxes die

Gamecube isn't the worst console of all time. It's much more fun than many other things, although the N64 is still my favorite Nintendo console

I love the Gamecube's control. It fits my hand like a glove. But that's not necessarily a good thing all the time, because I can be pushing buttons by accident and killing myself.

The highlights are obviously great but the library has no depth. There are 200+ good PS2 games, but with the Gamecube (like most Nintendo consoles) you'd be struggling after 25.
Loved the gamecube. So many good memories. But on the subject of the PS2, what were some of the good games? I'm ignorant enough that I doubt I could name 10 that weren't multi system, let alone 200.
Well obviously it depends on what types of games you like, but you have the Silent Hill series, the Fatal Frame series, the Metal Gear Solid series, the Yakuza series, the God of War series, the Devil May Cry series, the Gran Turismo series, the Timesplitters series, the Splinter Cell series, the GTA series, the Jak & Daxter series, the Sly Raccoon series, the Ratchet & Clank series, the Prince of Persia series, a couple of Resident Evil games, four Final Fantasy games, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus, all the Nippon Ichi games (Disgaea, Makai Kingdom etc), all the Megaten games (Nocturne, Persona, Digital Devil Saga etc), tons of other great RPG series (Xenosaga, Shadow Hearts, Atelier Iris, Mana Khemia, Wild Arms, Suikoden, Dark Cloud etc) and dozens of great standalone games like Okami, Valkyrie Profile Slimeria, kill.switch, Rez, Gitaroo Man, Kuon, XIII, Freedom Fighters, Red Faction, Disaster Report, Soul Reaver 2, Ring of Red, Gungrave, Killer7 etc.

Clearly not all of the above are PS2 exclusives, but there's just an incredible range & depth to the library, especially if you like RPGs and survival horror. I've probably forgotten a ton of obvious picks in the above list as well. There are far too many quality games to recommend specific ones, but my personal top five is Silent Hill 2, Rez, Killer7, Ring of Red and Metal Gear Solid 2.
Thank you. Having just recently gotten hold of a PS2 I've been searching for some good games to play. Might look into some of these.

Pffft I prefer the Gamecube way more than the Wii, Preferred the N64 and SNES over both of those and the NES beats all.

Even though the Gamecube didn't have the best game line-up, it really did have a good list of things to choose from and Melee is one of my favourite games.

I liked my Gamecube, what can I say? Best controller I ever held, and actually, it's CPU and GPU were better than PS2's... crazy.

Not accounting for that, there were too many awesome games for it for me to ever consider it bad.

There is only one reason to hate the Gamecube: Super Mario Sunshine...

But apart from that it's one of my favorite consoles.

Meh. How anyone can say something like this when you compare it to the long list of crap Sega created before they gave up making hardware...

PS2's strength was it's games. And that says everything, because that's what matters in the end.

Point of fact, in terms of hardware specs, the PS2 was the weakest console in the last generation unless you count the dreamcast.

As for controllers, They universally sucked last gen.

X-box had horribly oversized controllers.
Gamecube had ones that were often too small, and just didn't feel right.

And PS2? Why the hell does Sony keep inflicting that crappy design on people?

I've hated it since the very first iteration of it came into being with the PS1.

It is the single most irritating controller I've ever used.

It started life as a badly implemented copy of an SNES controller, and has progressively had more rubbish bolted to it as time went on.

Bolting extra stuff onto a design that is fundamentally crap isn't going to make it any better.

But, of course, Sony can't fix it now. I mean, look what happened when the PS3 was going to have something different?

There aren't very many good games for Gamecube but I did enjoy the ones I managed to find. It's nearly the same as the Wii inside you know.

What is this, an Allstate commercial.

OP: The way I see it, people hate the gamecube for one of two reasons. One, they never owned one. Two, they owned another of the current gen consoles and could never get over the weaker graphics of the cube. Shame to, because there were some pretty good games for the old gamecube.

That's what PS2 gamers say the Gamecube's main problem was it's tiny discs and graphics limitations. That's about it.

The GameCube was sporting a high-end ATI video card as its main graphical processor. PS2 was a couple years behind that, and had to use software cheating in order to do the water effects on RE4 that were -native- on the GameCube.

Anyone who says the system was inferior graphicly is not knowledgeable about what they speak of.
