Gamers and Metal Music

I dislike metal, except for some of the earlier stuff, mostly Ozzy.

I prefer classic rock, techno/electronic, and jazz though.

Yeah, I've noticed this a lot but personally I like pretty much all genres of music(except country). But yeah I like metal music myself or industrial i suppose...

Lets focus on the principles of music. Strong vocals and sounds give Makes your hear rate go up and releases adrenaline in to your system... everyone who know bit about biology know what that mean. So In short In game where tension and aggression is good *Fps* it helps to perform.
Tho In games where you need to focus and think A LOT softer and delicated simple music helps.
(tho this differes person to person on music quality but thise basic principles effect everyone who can be considered as human.)
But I still think classical music goes with every game there is. And that we need more aggressive classical composers. And I know alot about this subject it is my primary focus in life... I'm Nu-Classical composer (studying still) and orchestral percussionist.

P.S. My music taste 1. Classical/nu-classical 2.Ambient 3. trance and every other genre Expect Rap and Hip&hop.

Not all of them do, but many do. I have no idea why, but I'm a metalhead before a gamer. If anyone's the other way round, please enlighten me.

I figure it's because so many gamers are young males.

Statisticly then, they're more likely to listen to Hip Hop and RnB and go round stabbing people outside of the games.

Well stabbing yes, I think the music can be backed up by some sort of statistics.

Why do I seem to be the only gamer who doesn't like it at all?

i hate metal... im mainly into ambient and electronica... i used to like trance, but i dont at all anymore really...
i find most metal boring, they all sound the same as the next metal song... i especially hate it when metal bands decide they cant be bothered to actually write a song, and just scream and randomly strum at a guitar for 5 minutes...

so, youre certainly not the only one, if you didnt suss it from the rest of this thread >.>
but, every gamer i know is into metal, or that horrible pop/indie/rock shit that seems to be so popular...

Point is I don't like it, the songs don't make sense. 3/4 of the music is white noise of a resonating guitar or someone banging on the drums like a 2yr old with a bunch of saucepans. It isn't pleasent to the ears, the lyrics are either mumbles or screams. There is no middle ground. Even the few that have a melody like SOAD have a nice quite moment that I like and then all of a sudden it goes spirals into a chaotic screaming mosh pit.

BYOB is a perfect example. I love the chorus but then inevitably someone screams and then I want to kill a kitten.

Arrgh there is so much wrong with that blanket and inaccurate generalization you just made that my brain is having spasms.

You are listening to the wrong kind of metal!

Black, Death, Thrash, horrible [insert word here]-core, or (shudder) Nu metal bands are not representative of metal as a whole. I love metal and I bloody hate those sub-genres!

Notice how there are no bursts of white noise, mumbling, or incoherent screams to be found? Funny how that works.

I don't expect you to love that stuff, or even to like it, but if you're going to hate it, do so for valid reasons, not because you've heard a bunch of terrible hybrid metal bands and/or the loud screaming ones and then blithely assumed all metal is like that, because it most certainly is not.

I'm quite happy with "I just don't like it" as a verdict, since it's substantially more accurate than the notion that screaming and terrible instrumentation are all pervasive and that's why you hate it - you might as well tell us you hate pizza because you can't stand all the pineapple they put on it.

depends on the metal, i for one loathe "metal" where all they do is scream incoherently into the microphone but i like coherent metal like White/Rob Zombie, Opeth etc. I also like non metal bands such as Red Hot Chilly Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins
