I'm more metalhead than gamer I think. I love going to concerts and metal/rock clubs and wearing darker shades and all that stuff. That's not to say I dislike other genres however. I would happily listen to jazz, blues, and most other things (draw the line at R'n'B and folk though) if I've heard its good.
Like many though, most of the so-called metal generated today just leaves me cold, as does its supposed associated imagery (I hated Brutal Legend, but that's mostly because I hate Jack Black...tosser). All this screamy, homogenous, emo lovin crap that clogs the diminuitive metal sections in most stores makes me wonder where it all went wrong. Whoever thought singing like someone cut your vocal chords was a good idea needs to executed, buried, exhumed and executed again, just to be sure.
But, I find you get similar problems in all genres. Sifting through the mainstream, processed shit is hard work, but eventually finding what you like makes it worth the effort at least.
