Well, I think they only like a certain type of metal.
You know.
The good type.
I wouldn't really know as I'm mainly a light type of person.

RagnorakTres' moral code, section II (Music) subsection IV (Genre Diversity):
[The being known commonly as "RagnorakTres" on the Escapist forums will...]
not make any statements regarding others tastes in music or attempt to explain his own, with the exception of the following statement: "If it's good, I'll listen to it. Pop, rap, rock, metal, classical, alternative, trance, it doesn't matter. Except screamo. I will never, ever listen to screamo or death metal. End of discussion."

Yes, I have my moral code sectioned and organized. Is that weird?

I don't think you're the only one. I hate, no, loathe metal music therefore I just tend not to listen to it. People have varied taste, some like it some don't and some hate it to a catastrophic level.

I am the latter but I don't judge those who do like it.
What about metal do you not like, they way it sounds, the lerical value, or something else. Most people who dont like it dont like it because of the way it sounds. Although like all generas there is an exception. personally i love metal and allways will

My hate for metal cannot be quantified.

I'd rather get chlamydia, chicken pox and be impaled by a pineapple on the same day than have to listen to some people scream like they are suffering from a botfly infection (do NOT google that shit) or experience the variations in the metal genre.

Still, the human race is diverse. People are entitled to love things beyond the norm and I have no problem with it. I don't necessarily agree with metal music but I won't burn anyone at the stake for listening to it either.

Live and let live, eh?.
Another one who thinks death and black metal cover the whole of the metal genre. Well done I guess? You're helping keep the stereotype of "LOL metal suckz, it's just guys shoutin Jonas Bros are way better stupid nerds," alive.
Yeah I know, isn't that brilliant of me?. (rhetorical. don't answer)

I call em like I see em or in this case...hear em. Loud and annoying.

Every genre deserves at least one man hating it or else it has failed as an art form, so let me be that one man and hate metal all I want for the reasons that I see fit. And you, take the higher road and ignore me.

Sounds like plan?

Not all of them do, but many do. I have no idea why, but I'm a metalhead before a gamer. If anyone's the other way round, please enlighten me.

I figure it's because so many gamers are young males.
Statisticly then, they're more likely to listen to Hip Hop and RnB and go round stabbing people outside of the games.
You mean stereotypically, right?

You probably got it wrong, I don't think most people like metal only, just heavy music, metal isn't the only music that is heavy.

I like a lot of metal, although I do think too many great instrumentalists in the genre are muddled by a worthless, incomprehensible growler. That's why I generally move towards the Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead, Blue Oyster Cult side of the spectrum.

Although I listen to a lot of other music.

Look I am not looking for an argument so I will tell you plainly that my dislike is based on genuine dislike.

Metal be it black, death, melodic, gothic, satanic or whatever else there may exist with that class of music it kills me. No joke it causes a physical pain in me like days before you catch a cold when you know you're getting sick. It's the same feeling, I don't feel well listening to metal.

It's a genuinely unpleasant experience for me. Even System of a Down gives me a headache and that's saying a lot because SOAD is a melodic metal band, or so I am led to believe.

Point is I don't like it, the songs don't make sense. 3/4 of the music is white noise of a resonating guitar or someone banging on the drums like a 2yr old with a bunch of saucepans. It isn't pleasent to the ears, the lyrics are either mumbles or screams. There is no middle ground. Even the few that have a melody like SOAD have a nice quite moment that I like and then all of a sudden it goes spirals into a chaotic screaming mosh pit.

BYOB is a perfect example. I love the chorus but then inevitably someone screams and then I want to kill a kitten.

I don't know what else to say. Metal has a real physical affect on me but it isn't a pleasant one.

I am a LOVER of all things metal (well, almost all things) and I'm also a huge gamer. I am not exactly sure on the correlation between the two, though I agree there must be one because I do notice many gamers are metal lovers, and many metal lovers are also gamers (a bit redundant I suppose). It may be the subject matter, as gamers tend to like things that are more abstract and alternative and metal certainly is those things. There is also an extremely wide selection of metal, it must be the most sub-genre'd genre in existence. There is something in the metal world for anyone, even those who cant stand the more mainstream metal stuff. By the way, check out Blind Guardian. Not exactly heavy, but god damn, one of the best voices in music IMO.

I don't like metal. I like rock, indie, and electronic. I'm a big Daft Punk fan.
