Shadow of Destiny/Memories, Bioshock, Sanitarium.

All are awesome and if anyone decides to badmouth them expect me to... Listen to your arguments and present my own counter-arguments afterwards. If I have any.

Kingdom Hearts. 1 and 2 at least, Chain of Memories was a bit pants and I haven't played Birth by Sleep enough to judge.

Golly, I hope they make a third. Y'know, a proper third.
apparantly PS3 is going to get one. I heard rumors.
Wikipedia told me that Square Soft/Enix/Whatever said they were too busy working on other stuff to work on Kingdom Hearts III at the mo'.
But, y'know, Wikipedia information. Not the most trustworthy.

My fingers are crossed, anyway.

From the series director; Tetsuya Nomura.

EGM: What is the main theme of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep?

TN: The major theme of the story of Birth By Sleep is the link that exists between this group of people, the link that ties the heart and soul for the characters in the game. That?s the theme of the overall storyline. The game system is partially inspired by that theme.

EGM: A lot of fans of the series want to know why you?ve decided to keep doing prequels and side stories, while many others want to see where the main story progresses.

TN: For any sequel of the mainstream storyline of the Kingdom Hearts series, that would be Kingdom Hearts III. But the problem is that the opportunity of developing the sequel is not currently [possible]. The team is busy, I am busy. One of the major [unique aspects] of the Kingdom Hearts series, opposed to the Final Fantasy series, is that the entire history of Kingdom Hearts is based on a single unique storyline. There?s a past, present and a future within the same series. I thought that it would be interesting for the franchise to feature some periods of the storyline that haven?t been described yet in the previous titles. That?s why I wanted to create side stories and handheld versions of Kingdom Hearts.

EGM: How much further do you want to go back down that path of the back stories and side stories?

TN: To tell you the truth, I?m a little bit worried because there?s a few undescribed periods of time left in the history of Kingdom Hearts. I?m thinking about what?s going to be next after Kingdom Hearts II, the future that is Kingdom Hearts III. Time has nearly come to [work on] that concept. As you know, Kingdom Hearts Coded takes place in the future, compared to the [first] Kingdom Hearts period of time. In the same way, my desire is to put that concept in Kingdom Hearts III, to think about the future.

EGM: With as many projects that you are working on consistently, is it hard to keep them all straight? How do you organize your time to multitask?

TN: [laughs] Well, for now, the only I [will] manage to do all these simultaneous projects is to sacrifice my private time, my marriage, and my family time.

EGM: When people think Disney, they think cute, its family-oriented, its kind of for kids, but also adults, too. Looking at the past games, the Kingdom Hearts world is a dark place in a lot of areas. Are there any concerns that it could be too complex for children?

TN: It?s true that Kingdom Hearts features a very complex plotline in terms of story, and some might wonder if it is easily understandable for kids. But the research that we have done internally has proven that Kingdom Hearts appeals to the younger, or female adults, too. The initial idea when creating the Kingdom Hearts series was not intended to follow the typical storyline we see in a Disney movie. Rather, a storyline or world that is more inspired by the Final Fantasy series. That was our original intention. I believe that when you?re a kid, you prefer playing with a toy that is made for a more mature audience. So that is the base idea for that.

EGM: Do you think we?ll see Kingdom Hearts III on this generation of hardware?

TN: Yes, it might be possible. It is my desire to develop the next Kingdom Hearts on the existing platform, but the problem with a new console is that it has new technical requirements, new technical limitations, so we need time to make new research for that new title. The development team for Kingdom Hearts is currently leading technical research for concerning the high-definition graphics right now. So, yes, I?m wiling to create something on the existing console because when we aim for another non-existing future console, the release of the title will be far in the future. That?s my concern.

Assassin's Creed 2

It may not be the best game in everyone's opinion, but I happen to like the running, climbing, stalking an enemy from a rooftop waiting for the precise time to jump down right on top of them while simultaneously giving them a blade punctured skull, type of gameplay that Assassin's Creed 2 provides.

And if you don't like it, then prepare yourself because I'm coming for you Steve!

(If your name isn't Steve and you don't like Assassin's Creed 2, don't worry, I'm coming after you too!)

Modern Pokemon games.

I will defend each new generation from the hordes of "They should have stopped at 151!" idiots.

Oblivion.

To get me to play for 4,000 hours, they have to have done something right. And that something was in the class creation that allows for nearly unlimited gameplay styles. And a fantastic soundtrack.

Astro Boy: Omega Factor.

Take Astro Boy. Somehow make an awesome 2D action game. Somehow shove an awesome story into it. And do it all on the GBA. But hey, it's from the makers of Gunstar Heroes. I expected as much.

Pajama Sam/Putt Putt/Freddie Fish/Spy Fox/etc.

Edu-tainment done right. Really good old PC games for kids.

Full Throttle
Deus Ex: Invisible War (never played the first one)
Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Metroid Fusion
Fallout 3
The first two Rogue Squadron games and Shadows of the Empire
Streets of Rage 2

I realize a lot of these aren't necessarily "great" games, but they're games that I have the strongest memories from and nostalgia for.

Let's whip out the list, shall we?
-SpiderWeb Software's Exile Trilogy
-X-Com: TFTD
-Tropico (hey, a man has to get his megalomania out somehow)
-Bubble Bobble

That covers it for me.

The first rule of talking to me is that one shall never insult Homeworld.

The second rule of talking to me is that you shall never insult Homeworld.

The third rule of talking to me is that I am probably going to try and convince you to buy Homeworld at some point, if you talk to me long enough.

To a lesser extent, I don't like it when people criticise Halo: Reach. However, at least I can actually manage to restrain myself from beating the offender to death with their own proverbial skull if they do that. With Homeworld, I don't even try to restrain myself... it's a good thing virtually nobody is insane enough to dislike it or mention their dislike around me.

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Transformers: War for Cybertron

Either my favourite, most influencial, or most anticipated/well received games for all tiemz, and are thus sacred to me.

Fallout 3, but that's mostly on the ending, since i'm probably on of the few that (from a storytelling point of view) liked the ending
I liked it too. I thought it was great to have a definitive ending, from a storytelling point of view, even if it was a bit inconvenient from a gameplay point of view. Save n' load was good enough to get around that though.

Nothing. No game is perfect, not even my absolute favorites. And everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Should someone rip on a game for what I see as a legitimate criticism, I'll shrug and say "okay, fair enough, but in my opinion the good far outweighs the bad...you disagree, that's fine, don't play it." If it's something that I don't see as such, I'll file them as trolls and ignore them.

Pokemon - One of the first games I had ever played, great games.
Super Mario, GameBoy Colour - The first game I ever played, the game which started me gaming.
Halo 3 - So many fun times on that game.
Fallout 3 - The best game I have ever played. Ever.
Turok: Evolution - Another brilliant old classic, so much fun.
Left 4 Dead - Again, like Halo 3, so many good times on it.

There are a few that sorta fall under this for me

TF2
Portal
Mass Effect

But for all the videogames I've played there is one that is not to be fucked with, Halo: Combat Evolved, the game that started me on the FPS scene I don't care what others say about it the story was fucking great and the multiplayer was endlessly fun. halo is sacred ground.

All my favorite games come short here or there. The one that I'll defend most vigorously will probably be the IL-2/Pacific Fighters series, but even that has some serious shortcomings.
