Planescape Torment.... best RPG to come out of the west (in my opinion).

The Legend of Heroes series (especially the Gagharv Trilogy 3,4 and 5), which is not that popular in the west, but it was basically when I lost my gaming virginity (with the original in Korean). When reviewed the remake on a site (which I admit was a bit hit and miss) unfavorably, I was writing a complaint about 5 seconds later.

And finally Suikoden 2. This is basically my Bible. No need to say more.

Modern Pokemon games.

Good on you!

OT: The Ape Escape series. All the way. Truly great games. Don't be fooled by a kiddy anime guise, they're as good games as Pokemon.

I regularly criticize even my most favorite games (in context and time, obviously).
The only game that comes to mind that I don't think really needed any more work on it: Deus Ex.
And I can find minor points that Deus Ex probably should have touched up on.

But that's the thing: "Gaming Perfection" is an Asymptote, you can come terribly close to it, but never actually reach it.

All the new Pokemon games and Pokemon (even the wotter because it gets a good evolution)

Timesplitters 3 which I still think is the best FPS of all time.

Bioshock, though I haven't got very far yet, so this could change

No game's sacred. They're games!

That being said, I take my Starcraft II very seriously, but I enjoy joking about it. Granted, there's a lot of stupid criticism on this site about it, but that doesn't anger me no more than stupid people do.

How has this topic gone so long without System Shock 2?
I still get a little shiver every time I hear "Look at you, hacker..."

Then prepare for showdown. Im one of those 'idiots'. i mean seriously what is the point of the new ones? its just a cash cow now.

oh and my sacred games are -

-goldeneye on the N64, but i never have to defend that so its all good.
-star wars battlefront 1 and 2, but come to think of it i never have to defend those either :/

Kingdom Hearts. 1 and 2 at least, Chain of Memories was a bit pants and I haven't played Birth by Sleep enough to judge.

Golly, I hope they make a third. Y'know, a proper third.
This. Aparently they will and it will be the final game though the director has stated that doesn't mean an end to the frnachise just the current story. From what I've heard, and don't qoute me, your going to have to find those three armoured dudes from the bonus movie of KHII.

Also Crash Bandicoot: Cortex Strikes Back, Silent Hill 2, Klonoa and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Company of Heroes (best World War II strategy game ever invented) - note, I haven't played RUSE yet so, ya know...

Deus Ex (all of them, don't know about the upcoming one though)..

Fallout 3 - so easily modifiable and so many good mods.. makes it even more awesome then the vanilla version

Hmmn, I'm not sure. Half-Life 2, Arma 2 and Morrowind are 'sacred' I suppose, but I can understand the complaints with the latter two, and the inexplicably butthurt lilliputian chorus of the former usually isn't worth engaging.

Silence you, chains of memories was brilliant! ahem, or well, chain of memories if you remove all of Sora's levels where he's just doing a summarized version of what he did in the first game... because although it was still fun, it had no impact on the story. By the way, Birth by sleep is awesome, i reckon it gets the combat just right (on proud mode and above obviously, otherwise its still pretty much press 'x' to win) and although a lot of cutscenes seem to lack... well, the emotion that you remember from other KH games/Disney movies, its because all the emotion takes place in cutscenes that aren't just you replacing 'Gus the mouse'. the important ones. oh, and you didn't mention 'Kingdom Hearts: practically a year', on DS... just out of interest do you consider that one sacred too? I personally felt that it wasn't as fun as i imagined it to be, but that was probably me being a fanboy over the organisation.

Its odd though, as much as i love the kingdom hearts games, i do think i would be able to take certain types of criticism (i.e. The combat in Kingdom hearts 2 isn't exactly complex, you alternate between pressing x and slamming down triangle suddenly), because i can dismiss them as only playing it on an easier difficulty (and to be fair, even in Proud mode that triangle button in KH2 breaks the combat every so often). However, if anyone critisizes its story or dismisses as a childrens game, i will ensure that they know that i am in strong disagreement with them!

urrm, as for other games... barely anyone 'disses' (oh yeah, colloquialism) the Ape Escape franchise/series. And to be fair, those who do only speak the truth, yes i suppose it is childish (still fukken sweet!)
urrrm... the non-action (i.e. not 4 or 5... though they are fun in their own way) Resident Evil games are kinda sacred to me... though people rip them for bad-voice acting all the time, and if i defended that i'd be a liar xD

Though shalt not rip on the Golden Sun series or F-zero GX
fortunatly, i've only had one person rip on the Golden Sun series, and it was all because the poor tosser couldn't get past the large opening cutscene... i think he was afraid of 'stories' or something, poor lad, it was too much for him. oddly enough now, i think i should offer it to him again, now that he's older and more mature and has been seen with an 'Edge chronicles' book on more than one occasion... ¬_¬
and if i may so say, F-zero GX was far too hard for me, which is why i could never appreciate it. I commend you sir/madam (i haven't stalked your profile to check... yet :3) for being skilled enough to complete the 3rd mission and presumably all races after that one.

To finish, if i feel like i've said something mean against anyone's favourite games, i apologize. I've only quoted concerning games that i myself have played and enjoyed.

Silent Hill 2. When people say "It's boring" or "I didn't understand" That's because you thought it would be a fun, actiony game with great replay value. It's supposed to be a moderately difficult, pace changing story driven nightmare with great replay value. People who don't like it either didn't pay attention, wanted it to be fun, or didn't finish it.

I really don't have one. As long as someone can list a perfectly valid reason for not liking it, I'm game.
