In no particular order:

KOTOR -- Bioware meets Star Wars. It replicates the Star Wars universe very well, and, as you play though the game, you can feel the grittiness and the depth of the original movies flowing through you. It was a Star Wars game to the bone. Plus, it just really came together well.

Gameplay wasn't all that, especially in-comparison to what Bioware has made since, and to be honest, I feel that Bioware really dropped the ball with the plot twist. But this game and the sound of my lightsaber igniting and the characters my character bonded with will always have a place in my heart.

Dragon Age: Origins -- Used a cliched setting and a not-so-original premise, but constructed it so well, made it so in-depth, and polished it until it was jaw-droppingly awesome. A game that epitomizes everything that defines geek culture, Bioware RPGs, and Tolkien-inspired fantasy-Worlds. Also, it's a Bioware game, meaning, if you play through it and don't find the characters truly memorable and the storyline tear-inducing, then you deserve to be poked in the eye. Repeatedly.

GTA IV -- Say what you like about gameplay (i.e.: good, not great), but IV has, by far, the most riveting story of any GTA game ever made, and it delivers said story ridiculously well.

Suikoden 1 and 2. i am deaf, dumb and blind to any argument against them.
108 characters and a quest that doesn't involve the fate of the world. YAYness

Saints Row 2.

It's probably my #3 favorite game, but the top 2, Fallout 3 and Castlevania:SOTN, are pretty universally liked, so I rarely have to "defend" them.

Saints Row 2 divides people because you'll often find the GTAIV vs. Saints Row 2 argument, and I'm in the camp that thinks GTAIV sucks balls while Saints Row 2 is almost deliriously fun.
I am with you my brother. It may not be my favourite game but Saint's Row 2 is fun where GTA just isn't. All I ever wanted to do on GTA is muck about and you just get penalised so much for it. In SR2 you are REWARDED for ****ing about. It's brilliant.

I think my one game... ooh it's tough, I mean I'm will to accept criticism of a game I like provided it's not "HURR DURR x SUCKS!" but I'd probably go with Resident Evil 4

Well, if anyone has read any of my video game posts before, they know what's coming.
SIM Theme Park: Gold Edition.
Also, Legend of Dragoon. So many people I know rip on it, and they've never even played it. Makes me very angry, as anyone who played it know that it beats FF in almost every percievable way(to anyone that I've met that's played it).

the newer Pokemon games, i love the series as a whole, but i will quickly defend the newer games from the massive amounts of "THEY SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AT 151!!!!11!" and "POKEMON IS CRAP IT IS THE SAME EVERY GAME". also TF2, i am always defending it when it comes to FPS debates with my mates (well, not really all FPS, pretty much MW vs everything not MW.)

Nobody.

Takes

My Mass Effect games

They are extremely sacred to me and sit at the top of my collection of games. I also don't even have a PS2 anymore but i hold my Final Fantasy X and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 copies with high esteem.

So yeah, never take my Mass Effect away from me.

I don't know if there are any truly "Sacred" games, but I always jump up to defend Mass Effect 2. It's a beautiful masterpiece of the level of quality few games come near these days, and you will leave it alone, or else.

Sly Cooper and Geist. Sure, both are rarely talked about (in my almost a year here I think I'm the only one to ever talk about Geist and Sly Cooper only started getting mentions when it was talked about getting rebooted onto the PS3, but anyone who would knock Geist would make me sad. If I wasn't trying to catch up on newer games I'd go back and play it again, it being a barrel of fun that I remember getting during my best week with my ex girlfriend, ah, the memories.

Sly Cooper is another great game that makes grinding the same kind of quests fun and unique, and it's over the top style of story telling is better than most out there. Plus for those furries out there I'm sure there's lots of Sly Cooper art out there for you. The 2nd game lived in my mind for about 5 years before I saw it again and instantly reconized it for the fun game it was

TimeSplitteres, the second one mostly.

TimeSplitters 2 is the most fun FPS ever made.
I dont quite get the way people veiw the third one, im not just having a go at you here guy, you may generally like the second more, but although the second was one of my favourite games of all time (just fun on fun) I think the third was better as it had all the levels, more modes and alot more character depth, not to mention the fun times with Cortez and the rest of the cast.

The intro scene with Jo-Beth and the basment ladder scene were two of the funniest times ive had in gaming. The elevator scene with Amy Chen too. IN FACT THE WHOLE F'ING GAME WAS JUST HILARIOUS.

There are a good number of games I would defend but by the sounds of it alot of them are already being defended by they rest of you so I don't have to, but ones not mentioned would be.

Final Fantasy X
Resident Evil 1 remake
Broken Sword 1 & 2
Command & Conquer (the original, Tiberium Sun and 3)
