If I were japanese, I'd definately say JRPG's. I'd be embarrassed to say that my ethnicity is located within the achronism that represents such a terribly rotten genre. I have to say, I think JRPG's will someday be punishable to death, and death at the hands of a blue-haired, obnoxiously large sword-wielding, 12 year old boy.
You're using a pretty broad brush there. I'm sure there are some JRPGs out there that don't follow all the annoying trends.

Evony would be the game where all the advertisements are basically a woman's cleavage and something saying, "I'm waiting for you my Lord," correct?
Yep, that's the one.
My brother tried it. Apparently they aren't just perverts, they're liars too.
Can u give me some insight as to what its about? Every time I see it I think sex simulator, great.
I think it's just one of those browser based strategy games, the ones that really suck.

I can't remember the last time I was sensitive enough to be insulted by a game's subject matter.
Maybe you misread the title. Games that make you feel insulted to be the target audience not Games who's subject matter insults you. I'm not saying blood, gore, and tits are a bad thing, it's more the context in which they're used.
That's my point. I'm not insulted by games. They're just games, aren't they?
Hmmm. I'm not sure I get you're point, or if you get mine. Let's just agree to not understand each other, shall we?
I get your point exactly. You're saying "Have you been insulted by a game's marketing strategy, I.E. Ninja Gaiden's excessive level of female anatomy" and I'm saying "No, I don't care, they're just games and it's just marketing."

I've never been insulted by a game's marketing or by being part of it's "target" audience. Sure, games with excessive amounts of macho men with bulging muscles, tons of gore and tits may be marketed towards my audience, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be insulted by what they think of my "audience", primarily because most of it is true.

Well, it is. Men tend to like large breasts and excessive amounts of swearing and blood. Why do you think games with those things sell like wildfire? There's no point in being offended if it's true.

That'd be like me being offended because someone said I had red hair...

As i'm sure there are first person shooters that don't have space marines, but the point is this. There are soooo many JRPG's with the same exact qualities that I wouldn't even know where to start if ever I did (by some miracle of God) get into them. Whenever a new one comes out, i feel the same old feeling of deja vu and realize that I've seen that same thing a billion times.

Any game that uses the SIXAXIS controller to cause boob jiggle. It makes me inherently glad I don't own a PS3 (among other reasons I won't get into) and makes me feel annoyed that such a thing exists in a game like Metal Gear Solid 4.

Zelda games. How many times does Nintendo seriously think I'm going to line up to play basically the same game?
Yes because every single game has had the same exact items and the same exact gameplay mechanics to the letter every single last one of them.

Oh wait

Seriously there are far more long running franchises that are more or less the same game repeated worse than Zelda. I will never ever understand this argument, even though I know it is an opinion.
yeh just look at dynasty/samurai/bacon warriors.

Damn, I went into this thinking Ninja Gaiden. Um...

Resident Evil, 5! They changed Jill into a blonde bimbo for American audiences, and the whole fight with her is nothing but fanservice!
The entire game is nothing but fanservice! Poorly designed fan-service, at that. Why can't I stop playing it? *sobs*

Have you played Kingdom Hearts? Despite the retarded-on-paper concept, it's actually fun and well pulled off.

I agree. That argument about Zelda always annoyed me too.

Dude, stop confusing "All JRPGs" with "Final Fantasy 7". It's actually a diverse genre. Ever heard of Valkyria Chronicles and Okami?

Gotta go with Culdecept Saga. It's like a JRPG-style mix of Pokemon and Monopoly, which is incredibly fun and surprisingly challenging, but the story that drives the game is pathetic. If the story was even slightly good, I'd love this game, but instead I have to say that I am embarrassed to be a member of the target audience.

Yes yes, we've discussed this before. I swear we need to write a co-op review of that game.
We actually should. Let's discuss it more on XBL.

I was going to include other examples, but got lazy and settled on Zelda as being the first one that came to mind. I could also mention Sonic and, to an extent, Mario, except that Mario's less repetition of the same game as repetition of the story.

Any game aimed exclusively at girls. Even if I'm no longer in the target age group. It's still irritating.

Oh, and the "OMG LILAC PSP" ads are pissing me off a bit.

Maybe Pokemon, but I'm not sure if they're marketing to kids that weren't around for its beginning or to the young adults that were. Or both. Either way, they're getting away with something that resembles murder in the form of the same thing over and over.

Sonic series lately is all about the same stupid mechanic. The original game series back when it was 2D was a better platformer. i wish sega would realize that if I want to play a game that goes fast I would buy a racing game.

games that fit this thread:
all sports games... NHL,NFL,baseball...etc.
all racing games... drift to win!

we know the game is practically the same as the last year and yet we still buy.

I agree with the jrpg thing. I would love to see a jrpg that ends with the hero telling the villian ... "I don't care what you or my allies think. this dude paid me to kill you and I'm going to kill. Unless you can top his payment."

Red Alert 3 turned the female hero into a sex object and made the game twice as rediculous than ever before, it is just too much for me!

SSB Brawl has added in 'random tripping', that alone makes the game fucking stupid and offensive!

Mario Kart Wii hardly added any new stages in the game, most of them are from Mario Kart 64 and Double Dash, thats what I call pathetic!

Tiberium Wars and the latest Sonic games for consoles is just part of one big fucking joke!

Oh yeah, as people have mentioned... This game. Honestly, the only ad I've ever actually felt insulted by.

I'm not going to play your web game just because you put some boobs on the ad. And no, calling me as a Lord isn't going to change my mind. So little tact, you'd think it were a joke or something.

Look at that. They take the "all internet users are sexually repressed and extremely desperate" stereotype and expect it to do all the work. The sad thing is that it's obviously working; they somehow have enough money to advertise on pretty much every site I go to.

Extra ridiculous when you consider that the game is apparently nothing but this:

Fuck you, Evony.
