Technically no. Marathon and Halo exist in separate universes. And seeing as how Marathon is set in 2793 and Halo is in 2552, if they were connected, Halo would be the prequel. There are a lot of similarities, but Marathon's story is separate and more rich. Halo's got plenty going for it, but all the real story is found outside of the games. For Marathon, the vast majority of the info comes from the games themselves.Cyberjester said:

Rare needs to get off their asses. They've been a disappointment since they left Nintendo (with the exception of the new Banjo Kazooie, which was okay but still weaker than the first two). I mean, I really was hoping that they'd make a sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day too, but then it turned out to be just a remake :/. I was pissed.
I wanna see another Pikmin game soon too. Again, I heard of one coming out on Wii, but it turned out to be just a remake. Once again, I was quite pissed.
C'mon, I demand a Republic Commando 2/Imperial Commando! Then again, I wonder if the reason we haven't got it yet is because of the developer being shut down which wouldn't surprise me...

Hell no, the game was made by LucasArts, themselves! Why do we not have a sequel yet? You can keep us entertained for awhile with your fancy TFU DLC and upcoming TFU sequel, but why no Republic Commando 2?

The instances were sequels which failed far outweigh the instances were they shone.
What works, however, in my opinion, are are iterations of games set in the same setting/universe - such as Mechwarriors, or Dawn of War.
There in lies a freedom to explore different angles to a setting or universe, giving the story developers a shot at innovation, not having to stick to the same yoke that the predecessor instantly becomes.
Cases in point? Overlord 2, Max Payne 2, Fear 2 etc.

What about the (oncoming?) Homeworld 3?
Homeworld 1 was the best of all three, whereas HW: Cataclysm sucked a big one..
If they made HW3 like HW1, where strategy was more important than how fast you could click your orders around, the sequel will be very promising...
One thing I'm also waiting for is a new Armored Core, but then for PC... No one ever made something like that; the MechWarrior games had a totally different gameplay.
And EA should pick up from where they left C&C Tiberium.

KOTOR needs a sequel from Bioware... As does Jade empire... Halo 3 ODST could do with a sequel (Future)... As can Borderlands
And, of course, AC2's sequel needs to come out soon... Great ending...
