This is a 'scary' games thread and no one has mentioned Project Zero/Fatal Frame? For SHAME!

I still get freaked out playing Fatal Frame 2. The original has more jump-out scares but the second is the QUEEN of atmospheric games. (The king is still Silent Hill 2.)

Since there is a game thread about games that made you cry, ive decided to make a thread about games [or a moment in a game] that scared the living crap out of you and flushed itself down the toilet.

For me It has to be Silent hill 2 and the moment you encounter pyrimid head, what with him being that weird creepy monster that rapes other weird crazy monsters.

Hah, yeah, good old pyramid head. I love showing the scene where he rapes the mannequins to my friends, just to see their reactions ^_^
OT: I don't think I've ever been scared by a game before, but I do get really tensed up by some horror games if I let myself (which is, every chance I get). Although, the only horror games that haven't bored me enough that I have to stop playing, I think, are Silent Hill and Penumbra. I'm playing through Penumbra right now, and while I wouldn't say that it's creepy, it's definitely one of the best horror games I've ever played. It's like playing Thief, except you're afraid of everything because it's generally going to eat your face off.

When I finally...FINALLY reached the end of Star Fox 64 (i was young) and Andross came out of the green mist background with his big face laughing at my puny ship...I reset the 64.

Oh that scared the crap out of me when I was little. With Andross telling me, "You will die just like your father", then, his huge mug appeared. I proceeded to drop a turd in my jeans.

Same. Silent Hill 2 will always scare the crap out of me.

When I was really young, the intro to Majora's Mask(In which you first see the skull kid) scared the everloving crap out of me. I still have never played it, even though I own a working N64.

it was also MM for me but not that part. To this day i get the shivers when I don one of the transformation masks and that animation plays. freaks me out.

Resident Evil 4. Which is odd, since that stuff doesn't usually bother, but the first part of the game reminds me of places I usually walk through, so I got a really creepy attribution with that.

Metroid:Fusion for me. The part where the station is on emergency power only while you try to restore the power, you crawl through tunnels filled with malevolent vegetation... and then the game suddenly drops you in front of the final boss, and you have no weapons that can damage it. You have to run, dodge, and platform VERY fast or it will destroy you in about two seconds.

The only game that's really gave me a consistent, scared, tense feeling was the Half-Life mod Afraid of Monsters. It's always dark, creepy, and surreal. The fact that the zombies heads shake constantly ala Jacob's Ladder helped. It has a nice Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2 feel to it, but the first person perspective helps quite a bit. The graphics have aged, but so have Silent Hill and Resident Evil's. Anyone who hasn't played it, but has Half-Life and likes horror games should give it a chance.

Silent Hill 1. First time I played that was on a friends finished save file so we had to play the new game on the hardest difficulty. Holy Jesus.

Fatal Frame 2 for sure. God I never wanna play that game again!
