Prince of Persia; Warrior Within. It starts fine, showcasing the Prince's newly acquired combat skills, as well as his peerless platforming once you arrive on the island, but it quickly drops in quality.

Also, Rogue Galaxy. Starts promising but then delves in repetition and cliches.

[PROTOTYPE] really had that effect, looked awesome, at the start was awesome. But once you got into the game every mission would be about dodging the rockets the get spammed in your direction, 'taint fun.

Sonic Heroes springs to mind. The first couple of levels really made me believe that there could be a decent 3D Sonic game, soon after that I realised my mistake.

BioShock.

Well, not progressively worse, but the last third or say takes nose dive.
I dunno how to calculate how far in i was, but after the bit you get the camera i just felt board of the game.

I might actually go finish it now :p
That's actually pretty early in. Whole game should take 6-8 hours. I'd say finish it at least once.
I really want to finish it

but i just don't find hunting about for bits of the lazarus vector (where iv stopped) all that fun, im sure some people have a fantastic time with games like that, i just don't like the whole strickt path thing (whats the name for a game like that?)

[p.s i appologise for terrible spelling :))]

I am surprised that noone said Tomb Raider yet. Each game got worse by the pixel.

IMO, Wolfenstein. It starts out fun, but then it just gets stupid. I know it's not meant to be a realistic game, but moves out of the realm of 'fun' after about an hour's playtime.

FFVIII builds and only gets more and more awesome until you access the final continent in disc 3. From then on, the game is unplayable garbage (save for the awesomeness of space).

Persona 3 also comes to mind with its rock-paper-scissors style of game play and lack of control over your party (meanign any and every monster encounter can equate to a game over). Persona 3 still scores a special award for having my most infuriating moment in gaming ever, which is saying a lot for a person who has beaten Xenogears and acquired 100% of its extras and who grew up in the Nintendo-hard generation of gaming; tearing through Megaman, Contra, and Ninja Gaiden games as though they're punishing difficulties were actually enjoyable play experiences.

Oh, and Tetris. Let's be realistic, the game loses its appeal after 20 minutes or so. Pacman and the other unwinnable games have the similar problem. Any game that challenges you to sit and play it for as long as you can as though you are a machine that doesn't get bored with the repetition of it all falls into this category.

Resistance, just because of the damn checkpoint placements. Otherwise I enjoyed it. Damn Resistance 2 has gone all Halo on me with the '2 weapons only' restriction...

For me it was Resident Evil 5. It was fun.. at first, but after chapter three or four it became repetitive.

Farcry 2 was the best example of this. I was like Woah!!! (in the good sense) at the start and I was like woah!!! (in the bad sense) at the end.

Fable 2. It started realy good. But after a while it got worse. My main problem was that when you where doing the story quests you were doomed to run into an NPC that told you that you had to get more reknown before you could get the next story quest. You should not be forced to play the sidequests

Mothership Zeta, it was good then as it progessed it was just getting worse and worse.
Sad and but true :[

I'll just pick Unreal Tournament 3, the earlier games were waaaaaay better and this one got boring fast for me.

Far cry 2 this is fun...no it's not

On Subject:
I guess I'll go with the original Far Cry, it was an amazing game.... until the Trigens appeared.
i was into Far Cry too until they turned into a Wolfenstein/Timesplitters game with the Trigens. monsters just didnt sit well in a game that's supposed to be realistic, where as the other two games series were fine since they weren't trying to be realistic.

im playing Dead Space now and am only at the medical level, but to me its ever-willingness to startle the player is already getting old. it's nerve racking, not fun.

Prince of Persia. i started it, and thought, "looks great, smooth gameplay, and nice-looking boss-guy.", then about an hour in, I was fighting the same enemies, and the levels looked and even played the same as ones before, just with a different color scheme, and I was forced to pick up silly orbs to advance. By the end, when I had fought the same four bosses five(ish) times each, I never wanted to play PoP again, so i went and played remake for Live Arcade, to remind me what a good game was.

The end of call of duty 4 cuz of the ending where Gaz & griggs get killed and probaly Price too cuz Soap takes his place. The game was great but the end was a let down. Although the guy who does the voice of gaz is gonna be back in MW2
