Anyone remember the scene with the "pink flamingo" in Max Payne?
It's somewhere in the first half of the game. You hear a television through a window.
A man talks about his nightmares about himself, a clone of him and a pink flamingo, the latter talking with a strange voice.
The flesh of fallen angels.
I heard that story at 3AM. Damn, that scared me. Damn you and your nightmares!

Also:
Not a game, but the Slender Man myth. I watched the videos recently. I was horrified. Now I'm always a little bit uneasy at night, even now at this very moment.

Jesus...nothing. Games aren't scary. They may have some shock value, but nightmare worthy (...or even turn a hallway light on when walking around when you wake up to take a piss)? No bloody way.

Playing a game, to me, is a different mind set than what you have during a movie. I can't understand when a person say's they were scared by a game.
Maybe you've just been playing the wrong games :p
No, I dont think so, I've played most of these games listed...and if its a horror, I turn off the lights, play at night and turn up the volume. So, what else can I do? But then again not too many horror's freak me out either. Nightmare on elm street, one part of the exorcist...that sorta thing have done the trick in the past. But I don't understand how people go so ape shit over 'the grudge' or 'the ring'.

I mean, prove me wrong...but so far its all been one big let down. Especially dead space, res. evil (1 and 2...not a fan of the genre, the aim shoot method bugs me), fear (1 and 2), and silent hill (1 and 3). It's probably a question of immersion...for which games seem incapable of making me forget the difference between real life and fiction. A good horror movie can do this however.

So like I said...none of 'em. And because of the angst of dissapointment I'm more on the side that people who get frightened of video games need to grow a pair.

I don't why but the chase scenes in 7 Days a stranger always had me on edge, it's not nice being chased through small Hallways, especially whilst playing it at night.

Also Dead space is really scary when you're playing through the FIRST time.

The Suffering had it's "Oh my god i've pissed myself" moments

As did Fallout 3 and Borderlands.

having said that I have a friend who during the first Resi Evil game in the L shaped corridor, the dogs came through the window, he screamed, threw his controller down and dove behind the sofa. This was at 1am and he was 28 at the time. He still hasn't lived it down.
Yeah like in Fallout 3 when youre doing the wastland survival guide quest and you need to get into the mirlurk lair and you can't kill any of them, that scared the shit out of me... then I found out their was a back door...

Because I was young, the first game that seriously scared me was Doom 64, lol. I had to turn it off at the first Cyberdemon in level 17 because his roar scared the shit out of me! And he could kill you in one hit with those missiles, bastard. However, today I can easily conquer the game and I've never been scared of anything since! Resident Evil, Dead Space, Silent Hill, I love all those games and play them over and over.

Maybe because none of them have any undead assholes with rocket launchers like Doom.

*Face Palm* on second thought, RE3 has a rocket launcher wielding Nemesis, but he's just cool, I was never really frightened.

Fallout 3.

I was walking down a path, in broad daylight, with a flamethrower on my back, and wearing Power Armor.

And I was still scared. Why? My arms and right leg were crippled, and I had maybe 30 health left.

Knowing you could die at any second makes for a pretty intense, if not scary experience.

One part of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. No other game/movie/whatever has even come close.
The hotel level scared the living shit out of me. But it was so cool and atmospheric .

This is an easy one. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I never could play that game for more than half an hour without getting scared out of my wits.

Have you tried Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? I'm just like you (except that movies scare me even less), but the Ocean House in that game is so creepy. It has it's flaws, but the atmosphere in the beginning of the game is unmatched. Try it, this scene is just in the beginning of the game and it's not exactly expensive.

I found ravenholme In HL2 to be really scary, especially the way its all set up with the "we dont go there anymore" bit. Oh, and the howling zombies. Scared me shitless.

What system? Can I pick it up from E.B games?

Don't play very many scary games, though I gotta say that the first ghost in Fatal Frame I scared me pretty bad. Call me a pansy, but I just wasn't expecting it to be so close.
Also, Ravenholme in HL2 still kinda freaks me out. (It's the poison zombies, I think...)
