JRPG's; I can't stand them.

Actually, pretty much anything set in a world with dozens of androgynous teenagers. AKA pretty much all games that use anime as the art style. I have nothing against Japanese culture, but I can't stand the sight of anime/manga.
I can tell you haven't played a lot of JRPGs and are going by what Yahtzee says as very few JRPGs actually go by this. This is only a recent trend and by that only a few still.
I'm thinking it's more of the whole issue I have with anime. I'm just not that into art styles that are even close to it. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I just can't stand the combat either.

No, I tried several, even more modern ones, but could never get into them.
Ok that's fair enough but when you take something like a quote from Yahtzee especially that particular one which is the very odd JRPG it looks like you haven't given them a real try.

Seriously though, don't buy "Resident Evil 5". Instead, you should buy "Resident Evil 4". "RE5" is the only Resident Evil game I didn't care enough to finish. By the first boss, I figured that I had played the game before (but with Spanish people instead of Africans, and with myself instead of some stupid sidekick, and with a better inventory system, and with better ideas).
yeah, if you buy RE4 and then just imagine that you were playing that but fighting africans instead and there was less innovation and you were having less fun, you've got a good idea of what RE5 is like.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, my god.. seriously, they build a bridge on the road, and then you drop through it, down the cliff, and come up the other side at a constant speed, oh! and there is no speed limit on reversing, you can race around at thousands of miles an hour, and since you are on no-collide constantly you can just bee-line to the edge of the map and wander around the greyness

Yeah, get Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, it should be available on the Virtual Console. Trust me, it is hard. Like, proper "You Are Officially Hardcore If You Can Beat This Game Without Losing A Life" hard.

despite what its sales records suggest, don't buy MW2.
one of 2 things will happen:
!) it'll make you rage with the power of a thousand suns
?) You'll try to become good at it and slowly lose grip with reality/society.
That (sort of) happened to a friend of mine. I managed to beat him at split screen while we were both drunk, and he swore vengeance, and for a good few weeks would not stop telling me what level he was on and what guns he would kick my ass with. Eventually we resolved it at a system link party (like a LAN party, but with more swearing people & Halo). I won. Honest.
