You've never heard of "The Missing Diplomat?"

Or "The Great Masquerade"...got removed because of the king's return but man that was a good quest chain.

No, Tetris is a compelling story of Communism, where blocks are lined up and eliminated daily, in order to support an overpopulated nation.

Half life 2? I have no idea what the fuck is going on, people just seem so excited to have GOrdan around and then just assume that in my greatness I already know everything. Plus since there are no cut scenes I start to zone out then miss whatever is being said

Play the first game then.

Mario Party, the first 2 had good stories. Now its just 'press A for 30 seconds' to save Party-land!

snowboard kids 2 (Best N64 game ever) had a story before each race. Really it was either running away from somthing or just exploration, or racing while simultaneously killing a boss.

As for poking fun; Lost Planet had NO STORY. sure it had cutscenes, and it had missions, but it did not have A RECOGNIZABLE STORY AT ANY POINT WHATSOEVER.

I know that Dead Space had a story, but it was locked away and kept in a separate room from everything else in the game.
It didn't really feel like it had a story.
If you have to play a bunch of other pre-launch games, read/watch the comic, and then watch a movie just to make a little bit of sense of the actual story, then I don't think that the actual game has much of one at all.

It makes perfect sense! You're a scientist, your experement screws up the universe, you fight your way out of the facility, and a wierd guy thats been watching you decides you'd make a good soldier and puts you in stasis. whats not to get?
