What is hack, when did it come out and what system is it for? Ive heard several mention this game so its got me curious.
.Hack is to complicated to explain here, add me to friends if your truly curious (I am the know it all for this game) It came out around 2003-2004 for the PS2

....Final Fantasy 7.

I used to be a fanboy of the Halo series, but quickly realised Bungie had no idea what the fuck 'story continuity' is.
care to expand on that complaint? i never really paid attention to the story too closely and its been a while since i played any of them besides reach. did read all the books however so im not completely clueless its just i cant quite piece together right now why your complaint is valid
When the books first started coming out, Bungie said that the books were officially part of the universe. The first noticeable part in which the story breaks is between the first and second game, in which the 'newer' weapons are shittier than the older ones. Then they completely ignore the books, don't even reference them in the book. By Ghosts Of Onyx when they bring in the S-3s, all are dead aside from current companies, which is long after Reach. Reach has only one actual Spartan-II in the entire game, Gorge. Then they outright tell the first book, the one they declared as story, to fuck off and ripe out the last hundred pages. As far as I can remember, it was never mentioned in Reach how the Covenant found the planet.

Then there was ODST, in which the characters find an Engineer, and get told it will change how the tide of the war. Except the tide of the war changing had nothing to do with it at all, since Chief did that in Halo 3.

In the third book, also which Bungie called official story, A massive fleet of Covenant ships (In the range of five hundred ships, or more) were on their way to reek havoc and rape on Earth. In H2, which came out AFTER First Strike, the Covenant turn up in ten ships and act like they didn't expect to even find a human inhabited world. And again, the weapons. The first game is the only game to have a decent assault rifle and pistol.

In Reach, you have heaps of advanced kinds of weapons. But the Pillar Of Autumn, which was designed for a massive op, only has the most basics of armaments.

...oh god...I just did that....
oh yeah i remember now! that was my main complaint about reach, how it would have been better with you playing as one of the 20something spartans on reach with the huge huge fleet battle overhead, and then one of the last missions being the space op with john and others (whom i cant remember) to explain how the pillar got off reach in the first place and headed towards halo.

though didnt the 500 ship fleet get destroyed in first strike? i thought they flew a covenant ship they had jacked into the middle of them then detonated a slipspace drive or other bigass bomb to stop the fleet heading towards earth while the chief and johnson and a few others flew back

and you cant complain about weapon quality too much since thats more of a balance issue and one of those little details that ultimately dosent really matter and was probably going to get changed eventually anyway

EDIT: coming back to the original topic i never addressed, im prolly a fanboy of pretty much all of bioware's rpgs and blizzard games (save diablo since i have not played any of them)

Half-Life, Uncharted, Fallout, Bioshock ... the list goes on. Incidentally (ha, right!) they all have new chapters in the making.

I honestly don't think I'm a fanboy of anything. I'm mentally running through all my favorite games, and I can easily admit that each of them have flaws. I mean, I love Uncharted, but the main character is kind of inconsistent douche. I love Mass Effect, but a lot of the elements of gameplay(Side quests, upgrades) are inconsistent at best, and still imperfect. I love God of War, but it's still very repetitive and the story only goes downhill from the first game. I love Bioshock, but hacking sucks and the vita-chambers aren't helping anyone. I even love Bioshock 2, even if the story is a bit of a mess and a lot of the new elements were poorly implemented. Need I go on?

No offense, but I think this topic is a little flawed. Liking a game doesn't make you a fanboy, it makes you a fan. Not being able to admit imperfection makes you a fanboy, and that's pretty damn rare.

Personally, I really liked GU but not the original. What are your thoughts on it?

Most of the fleet was destroyed, crippling it worse than Stephen Hawking. But a fair few ships did survive. Probably a dozen or so. And they detonated the main cruiser thingies engines, different from the Reach...thing.

G.U. is pretty good
I Espesually like it how the two games blend. The reason that R2 was made was because the main CC Corp building was burned down destroying the R1 servers. During the age of R1 Aura was the ultimate AI and kept R1 ogether but one day she just disappeared. when R1 was falling apart CC Corp hired a crack team of programers to recreate the Morgona Code so that they could make a second Aura, which they called "operation G.U."
Unfortunatly G.U. leader went made because he couldent figure out the secret to the Morgona Code that Gerald (Auras "Father" And the creater of the Epitaph of Twilight") Created and burn down the building to hide his Failier.
I know alot of typos but Im doing many things at once right now so I cant be bothered.

'nuff said?

Also, with Assassin's Creed I'm also particularly obsessed. And finally, Richard K. Morgan books, and as a result, Crysis 2. I've been talking it up heaps because he's a fantastic author.

Your a pessimist aren't you? If perfections all you'll take then disappointments all you'll make. Im sure you're not all negative but be careful not to let your judgements and criticisms of a game ruin what the experience of the game really should be. Im only saying this from someone who may or may not have been in your position and only wish to spread peace. =)

Silent Hill 1-4 (I wish I could just say the whole series, but the new ones just don't meet the standards - but that's an entirely different topic).
Especially 2. I love that game.

Elder Scrolls Series for people who want a big world to muck around in.

Silent Hill 2. Mot only because it is one of only two games that successfully scared me but also the best example of gameplay resulting in different endings; without resorting to heavily telegraphed moral choices.
Ah, a fellow Silent Hill 2 lover.
My favourite game of all time!

Are you perhaps talking about how 'the great journey' suddenly replaces the orginal reason the covenant are interested in halo? Because i have been looking for fucking ever for someone else who noticed that, i hate it when my friends give me their stupid look of confusion when I bring it up too, they make me feel like such nerdy asshole.
