As a Final Fantasy fan, I'd say our franchise pretty much wins this one. Not only due certain outcasts hate the mass, no, that's not even true, there are just factions. We all hate each other for one reason or the other. Thankfully, unless you're in the "The First Six Were Better" faction***, most of this has to do with gameplay and storytelling. For example, fans of the more Westernized FFXII have often outright despised the fact that my personal favorite is Final Fantasy VIII, which they regard as a repetitive piece of shit whose main objective is to bore the player, and then annoy them with the often-intentionally annoying characters (It's called deconstruction, folks). This is an accusation that I fly right back in their faces, since XII has about as much player pariticipation in it's nobattlethemeforyou (seriously, wtf) mock-up of WoW as a typical dungeon crawler, and characters with less development stretched over longer periods than Duke Nukem Forever.
I'm sorry, but this isn't even a debate: Final Fantasy wins.
***Also known as the "VI was the best" faction, but also often as the "IV was the best" faction, who typically acuse the fans of later titles to be easilly-impressed Japanophilic anime fanboys who love nothing more than a well-greased phallus inserted up their impossibly tight assholes. This is simply not the case.
