Take Darkest of Days for example.
I'm a history buff so I enjoyed going into WWI and Civil War battles, and using their weapons with some futuristic ones. WWI and Civil War are genres untouched by the FPS market and given a twist to make it all fun, and that's what I loved TimeGate Studios for doing and support them for it.
The game could have been better yes, but I respect the spirit they did it in.
Also Section 8 for another example, in my opinion a great sci-fi battlefield conquest style game. Underrated and overlooked by H3: ODST no doubt but I still respect what the developers have done and their concept.
They can be any game, a mainstream one or underrated game that you've liked a studio for doing.
