What games were you not expecting to be fun but were? I know for me Flower was a nice surprise for me, as well as Portal, which I didn't think I'd enjoy as much as I did..

What about you?

Tony Hawk's downhill jam on ps1 was fricking awesome, and i would still play it today if i could...
Also, fallout 3. I knew it was good when i bought it, but i never expected it to be so good it would have me litterally playing for a day and a half straight first time i plugged it into my pc. Just so awesome!

The Witcher. I was expecting it to be good, but not THAT good! Can't wait for the console version!

Also Mount&Blade is surprisingly addictive and fun.

I'd have to agree with PN03, that was one I wasn't expecting... Picked it up in the bargain bin, and got a gem... Lucky me.

Saints Row 2. I hate 'gangsta' based crap cos it usually involves things like drugs and shit and I hate anything to do with it but this was extremely fun. Some cool action cut scenes with fun run and gun gameplay and... you can throw people... its so satisfying plus coop is meant to be awesome, I plan on doing it asap!

Honestly, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand turned out to be a pretty ridiculous amount of fun when played with a friend. The arcade-y elements added a nice touch to the firefights and the overall design was pretty slickly executed.

Just don't take it seriously. At all.

Shining Force EXA. I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed that game. Certainly had many flaws, but still a pretty good play.

Kameo on the 360.

I picked it up for $17 expecting to get a game for my younger cousins but I've played it so much, it's incredibly fun, and quite challenging on hard mode.

Also, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath was an awesomely fun game on the original Xbox although I don't think its backwards compatible. :(

Before I played Kingdom Hearts, I thought it bore one of the most idiotic concepts ever used in a game. When I played it, I loved it. It's amazing how well that concept worked, considering I hated it so.

I downloaded the Mount and Blade demo thinking it was just some lame game, but it turned out to be pretty entertaining.

i was almost positive that Overlord was gonna suck, it seemed like another one of those "good concept" games where it could be really good...if someone had thought it through

but i was pleasanlty surprised when i finally played it at a friends house, it's a great time-waster and actually has replay value, which seems rarer and rarer nowadays

Who would have thought a game based off farming like Harvest Moon: Back to Nature would be fun. It ended up being the most played game on my Playstation heck I still play it from time to time.
