A sort of "Borderland's style" FPSMMO with base building, vehicles. Basically, all the players are like the crazy bandits from Borderlands. They build weird scrap-metal fortresses and such, build insane Mad Max style vehicles, and go roaming around on rampages. Lots of PvP with partial player looting; you'd get only one thing off a player you kill, but probably only rob some of their pocket change or one of their crappy consumables, not their weapon/armor. The PvE would mostly be concerning the screwed up ways in which the faceless inter-solar corporations exploit everything for profit, and opportunistic predatory factions that take advantage of the chaos, like vultures.

It would include randomly generated instances that are sectors of the open-world planet where random stuff to raid happens. A town could be full of zombies from a corporate experiment involving bio-weapons or a crashed ship-wreck that seems easy to loot, but the bulk of its cargo is just crates and crates full of angry robots. In rare cases, two groups could arrive in the same instance, and either indifference or bloody combat could ensue.

Players would be able to control areas of the overworld like critical vehicle routes, mines, or just the middle of nowhere, by building bases, defenses, and hiring NPCs and such. What would also be possible is the option to just ruin things. Plant landmines, hire a screw-up crew to infest an area with enemies, destroy buildings solely for fun and profit from the scrap metal sales.

I don't think it'll ever be made, because an FPSMMO that actually functions like a well-constructed FPS and is also interesting is probably impossible. No, Destiny, Planetside 2, and Fallen Earth don't count. Those aren't open-world and PvP-focused, and Planetside 2 just doesn't have the appeal I feel.

So much pain in this thread. The guys who've mentioned Jade Empire 2 and Zone of the Enders 3 are more correct than everyone else.
I'll have to add Prey 2 and... Sea Dogs/Pirates of the Caribbean/Age of Pirates. I loved Sea Dogs 2, which was called PotC and was published by Zenimax so it was a bug-ridden mess. Despite the bugs, that game was awesome. I just want another one.

Bulletstorm 2. It died when People Can Fly got pulled off it and onto Gears of Baird. I still want Ishee redeemed from going full war-bot at the end. Plus I'd like them to expand on the trickshot/XP based gameplay, and of course dicktits, why not.

I'd love a game that combines the emergent and engaging gameplay and interesting mechanics of a good singleplayer game, with the cooperative and competitive opportunities of an online multiplayer game. :D

My desire for Jade Empire 2 still burns to this day and will til I die (or it comes out but we know that won't happen), more mainline Overlord, Soul Calibur 2 from gamecube so I can use link again, Bayonetta 3, more KOTOR would be nice or at least remasters complete with cut content, Jedi Academy 2, borderlands 3 (yes I know its coming but I'm impatient), Psychonauts 2, kingdoms of Amalur 2 (I don't care how much it put Rhode Island in debt to make just one), bad company 3, the force unleashed game we wanted, and a kill la kill game made by platinum. Also not really on topic but I would like to retroactively remove all traces of FFX-3, 2 and the last mission were good places to end but everything related to the third game really needs to die in a fire. That's my wall of text for the month.

An actual Star Trek RPG.
Not an mmo, a singleplayer RPG (or at best co-op) set in the TNG era with a kind of accurate reflection of career progression from cadet to admiral, and the various specialities. (eg. engineering, medical, science, security, etc.)

That'd never happen though.

Nor will 'the secret of vulcan fury' ever be a thing. Though it never got past being a trailer, so who even knows what it is.

Starflight 3 actually releasing, maybe?
That's only been a fan project for a decade or so...

A back to the future sanbox game with arbitrary time travel. (technical and development nightmare, even if you restrict the location to just hill valley itself. The time machine's control system implies needing to implement at least 10,000 years somehow. Most of it being the future. Not to mention doing the whole changing the past changes the future thing)

in the same vein, a generic time travel story with unrestricted time travel, and actual dynamic consequences to messing wigh the past.

Again, probably nearly impossible on a technical level. (though the RTS known as Achron showed on a small scale it's a more plausible concept than you might at first expect.)

I keep asking for it, but everyone keeps not making it. Seriously, why was this never a thing? It would literally be a reason to print money.

A metroid prime style game that moves the storyline past fusion, and has actual references to previous games (but not too many obviously, still need it to be accessible to newer players)

Marvel Vs. Dc Vs. Street Fighter vs. Capcom Vs. Mortal Kombat Vs. Soul Caliber

Because fuck you that's why.

I think i've seen only one person mention TimeSplitters in this whole thread so far. So much pain from being jerked around by Crytek for a few years before they said "nope, no new TS in the works, sorry folks!"

I want a Star Wars grand strategy set during the rebellion. I'm talking Crusader Kings 2 style. The Empire would be like the HRE and the Rebels would be like a small duchy in Ireland, but balance it so the Rebels have a chance. Kind of an updated version of Star Wars Rebellion.

A sequel to Planescape Torment. Any RPG set in Planescape or Spelljammer really.

A sequel to Jade Empire, an excellent game that failed to resonate with an audience.
Well, there IS a spiritual successor to PST in the works. It's called Torment: Tides of Numenera. Check it out. I do apologise if you already knew that.

One more vote for good Jade Empire sequel. Although, I'd like it to not be a direct sequel.

An Arcanum sequel or reboot like the kind of thing that Bethesda did with Fallout. The first games setting and ideas were great but the implementation was horrible which is a shame.
I'd rather give it to Harebrained Schemes (guys that made recent Shadowrun games). I'd also politely ask them to balance the "classes", because techies seem to be harder to play than "warriors" and "mages" and in the end are less effective (which is bull).

OT: You know what? I want a light-hearted RPG set in a setting where four sides of the world have different "ideologies" and they all DON'T want to kill each other.

I want, for example, technologial North, magical East, natural South and spiritual West to be allies, with exchange of knowledge, tourism etc. and the goal of a player characters party being NOT saving the world from "EEEEVUL NATION!!" but, for example, solving crimes, or doing high-level jobs.

Also, I want a Gentleman Pugilist Orc as a party member.

Sequel to S.L.A.I - Steel Lancer Arena International.

It's a relatively straightforward mech combat game, more focused on fast action over accurate simulations, but it worked for the game. Leveling up chips with their differnet personalities was fun, and could have an interesting upgrade path.
I enjoyed the straightforward weapon system - shoulder buttons controlled two arm and two shoulder mounted weapons, allowing for four slots on each mech. Legs and body could then be customized. Rather than getting weighed down in menus for the engine to put into a chassis, the game made smart decisions about combining them for a more arcade-y experience. Also made split-screen play with friends faster than Armored Core where you'd spend longer building than playing.

I'm surprised no other company has made a lighter mech game like this. The sports angle allows for the admittedly repetitive mission structure, but I'd love to see new modes, such as the randomized rental mode in the original. Expanded shop systems (there were basic stocks and sponsorship, and a black market trader) and chip upgrades could be really fun. Balancing out some builds (melee was ridiculous at higher tier weaponry/chip level, with only stupidly expensive lasers as a response) while adding more options would be great, and new maps could be fun.

Really, I just want a good, fast, vertical, and mobility focused mech game that's not set on being a complete simulation. I love MechWarrior, but the speed and ease of use made SLAI fun. Hawken was close, but the online only play was disappointing, and the movement felt more shooter than mech.

Granted, Konami's shit the bed and a major in-game company was named Kojima (after Ichiro Kojima, but still) so a spiritual successor is likely the only way.

Shenmu- oh, whoa.

Uh, other than that there's Battlefield Bad Company: 2142. Probably the best thing you could do with the Battlefield series.

While I could probably think of things much cooler right now, I've always wanted a sequel to Bungee's "Oni", done well I think it would be awesome!

A Dynasty Warriors style Fairy Tail game. You've got a massive cast of characters, with mostly unique magical powers. You've got everything you need to make an awesome game there... and the idea of destroying an entire army as Gajeel is making me really want to play this.

I also want a Marvel game made in the method of a Dynasty Warriors game. Large cast of super-powered characters. They could go nuts.

A proper Spore game, you know like the alpha videos.

Not the bland game it ended up as.

Thanks for the tip. I did know of Numenera and, believe you me, I did a happy dance when I learned of it. It was an awkward day in the lab....

I do want to play in the Planescape and Spelljammer worlds again though. I am not that attached to the AD&D rule set they came with but they are some of my favourite campaign settings. Planescape was fun but Spelljammer was bananas, editorial did not keep a close eye on that product line and its shows.

A new descent game
a new tactics ogre game
a civilization game that does not want to milk me for 2 years before the game is complete
a conclusion to golden sun
a single player ww2 game that is not propaganda, the axis should have its own playable campaign.
