Fallout 3. It's the intro sequence; takes so long and so little variation each time.
This.

Leaving aside my other issues with FO3, any time I do summon up the drive to try it just-one-more-time just plodding through that interminable intro in Vault 101 drains my will to go on. What makes it worse is that up to the point you wake up on what will be your last day in the Vault nothing has the slightest consequence, and is so heavily scripted it may as well be a 20 minute cutscene.

Others - the one forced stealth level in Return to Castle Wolfenstein... and that Krogan Battlemaster you run into early on in Mass Effect has put paid to at least one attempt to replay that game.

The mine in Banjo Tooie
Wait, you dread Glitter Gulch Mine, but you have zero problem with Grunty Industries? Banjo Tooie/Kazooie being my favorite games of all time, I would be inclined to agree with you had you said that. What was wrong with Glitter Gulch?

Was it the Canary Mary race? The rematch you have with her in Cloud Cuckoo Land is much more difficult, especially if you want that Cheato Page. Nearly made me break my controller, that.

Was replaying Saint's 2 a few weeks back, in anticipation of the new one. Knew there was a mission I despised in the Ronin line, but didn't remember what or why. Oh yeah, having to shoot chase bikes on a bike, and shoot them. Would have been enough to make me give up and wait till Third, but found a way around it - take a car with a gun turret into the mission.

Original Half-Life with Xen. Up till then, it's awesome shooty fun times, but the platforming and poor ammo there ruins it. I've played through Xen only once. The game up till that point has had more plays than I can count.

Majora's Mask: Stone Tower Temple and the area immediately before it. Why? Repetition breeds contempt.
And you have to play this damn song soooooo many times. Blaargh!

I'd vote for the Fade section of DAO as well. Thank god for Mods!

There is a point in the first Resistance game where you have to get across a narrow bridge to the other side and until you do the enemies have infinite respawns. After finally getting past that part I won't ever come back for a second run.

I've started a few new characters on Skyrim as well and I've got to say I don't enjoy how long it takes you to get to the character creation screen. Luckily I created a save file after the third new character.

Everytime i have thing about the hospital in EVERY SILENT HILL GAME. i get it hospitals are creepy, but damn!

Legend of dragoon . Everytime i get to disc 4 death city i stop ,( complete the game once , played through it 4 times)

Persona 3 summer

Eternal sonata , after begining intro ( i can be bothered to beat this game a second time )

And so many more , tis the reason i rarely play through games twice . Although i'm keeping all my consoles and games for when i get old and retire.

Max Payne, that damn dream sequence when you have to walk a tightrope MADE OF BLOOD, IN SLOW MOTION. Plus the fact that the tightrope is also a maze, PLUS the fucking leaps of faith you have to make to get down, PLUS THAT FUCKING BABY CRYING. Ugh, that part makes me mad just thinking about it. Oh wait, there are multiple dream sequences.

FFFFFFFFUUUUUU

Great game though.

I didn't like Ostagar and the Fade much, but they were no dealbreakers to me. I didn't have any issues with Taris as well. I have some others though:

- Tales of Symphonia, each time after an important boss battle, the game sends you to the least appealing areas of the game. The sewers being the worst of them.

- Conker's Bad Fur Day, the part of tower which you need to climb to rob some sort of safe.

- Assassin's Creed, restarting at your own temple each time after a "murder" and having to drive all across the Holy Land to return to a city.

- Stronghold, the missions where you start of in some swamp to help some monks. Hard as hell and impossible to build something decent. Except for 1 mission, all missions against the Pig felt bland and unfair anyway. Worst was taking the Pig's castle for the second time.

- Modern Warfare 2, the Favella missions.

Of course, I've struggled past all of them. I remember 1 game being permanently stuck however, which was Command and Conquer. I was about 11 years old back then and couldn't get past mission 8 of NOD and about mission 11 or 12 of GDI. I really should find a vista compatible version.

For me its not a single part of Banjo Tooie its just the insane amount of backtracking you have to do when you learn new moves which just didn't happen in Banjo Kazooie.

The entire castle section of Resident Evil 4 makes me just go "Do I really want to replay this?" I love RE4, it's one of my favorite games, but I hate the entire Castle chapter.

The fade in DA:O.
Irenicus Dungeon in BG2.
Taris in KOTOR.
Telos in KOTOR2.
The long walking section in Arkham Asylum.
The annoying hoverboat level in Half Life 2.

And the entire first bit of Wind Waker, the stealth castle. And sailing around makes me quite bored. And the bit where you have to freeze the volcano and it it timed so you can get the item you need to unlock one of the next two dungeons :(
Aaand I have been thoroughly ninja'd. Seriously, these are pretty much all the mooments I can think of. Well..also, Red Dead Redemption's story missions can get insanely tedious.

Edit: In lieu of making a new post, I'll just edit.
I plaayed a game of DnD 4th Ed tonight, with people over skype. I'm always keen on a DnD game...until I remember A) How horrible 4th Ed is and B) That tabletop games are supposed to take place at the tabletop, if not, miscommunication happens. And happen it does. C)New players and rp/anti-metagaming-nazis don't mix.

Seconded.
Pretty much any time a game relies entirely on atmosphere and scares to be engaging, it is going to suck on a replay unless you've blanked your memory.

God of War (the first one) and the water section, I hate that section with a burning passion.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the Nazi area with the...the...creatures(?), that part sucked.

Max Payne

The part where Max ends his one-man war on Italian stereotypes and starts up a new one-man war on shady government mercenary stereotypes. Thankfully that's pretty late in the game, so there's still a lot of awesome to be enjoyed before then.

Notably this transition is also where you encounter the second (and my opinion far worse of the two) drugged segment, previously mentioned by synulia a few posts up.

KOTOR 2, when I remember Nar Shaddaa and what happens after the Ravager section.

The intros to Oblivion and Fallout 3, which tack an arbitrary tutorial onto both games which last too long.

Empire: Total War, until I remember how much I hate the AI.

Mass Effect, until I remember the slog of the vehicle sections and Thresher Maws (one video game enemy that should never ever be brought back, due to their 'Russian roulette' approach to killing you)

I LOVE Knights of the Old Republic. I generally play it about once a year. Or at least, I'd like to. The problem for me is right in the beginning. Taris. I hate Taris so much. The game is fuck-all boring at that point when you're going through it for a second time.
I feel like such a loner. I love Taris. All three levels of the city, the side quests...I don't know. I just found it to be a really fun introduction.

However, they don't really compare to other worlds you end up going to.

But for other games.

Dragon Age: Origins - Definitely the Fade segment. That one is horrendous. I always do that one first before any of the other so I don't have to loathe it for that long.

But other then that...I enjoy my games. The ones I have kept are the ones I have no problem playing over and over again through any segment.

Some games I couldn't finish.

Fable 2 - And I tried multiple times, really hard, to beat that game. But just couldn't do it. Was able to beat Fable 3, but not 2.

I'd also like to add Metroid Prime 2's mandatory key hunts. Prime 1 has them too, but in Prime 1 you can get most of the keys before you need them. Not so in Prime 2 - you need them before you can get them. This by itself isn't bad, but it is bad when you have to do it before fighting every major boss in the game!
