Games you will probably never finish.

Pretty simple, really.

For me, I usually tend to finish games eventually, even if I do drop it for a year and come back, it's rare that I simply cannot be bothered to finish a game.

But if I don't finish it, it'll be either because it's crap, or because it's too hard for me to finish. I've been gaming a long time, but while I'm not really crap at games, I'm not brilliant, and as such, dark souls and the binding of issaac have joined my list of games that I will play, and continue to play, but may never actually finish.

Dark souls is infamous for it's difficulty. But the normal enemies don't usually bother me. The hollows and knights are challenging, and it's one of the reasons I like dark souls that every single battle feels life or death. There are no mudcrabs here, no enemies that you practically laugh at for thinking they can take you on. It's the bosses that get me. The long, greulling fights with barely any time to heal. They stop me in my tracks, and before long, I get tired of running the same gauntlet of normal enemies, getting to the boss, dying, rinse and repeat. Of course, defeating a boss is satisfying as hell, but I just end up thinking that eventually, there'll be a boss I simply can't pass. A boss who is possible to defeat, no doubt, but far, far out of my gaming skill.

As for binding of issaac, well, it's the roguelike elements that get me. The fact that my past attempt at it will make little to no difference to my next attempt. In a way, it's refreshing, and hard to get frustrated. Some games are simply so hard that frustration is pointless, you will die anyway, the fun is simply finding out how far you can get. The annoying part is when I end up with really good items, and think I have a serious chance this time, then, out of nowhere, luck screws me over. A really hard boss in my way, a powerup that didn't help at all, something like that, and I'm done. I enjoy it, so I'll keep trying, but I severely doubt I will ever actually finish it.

Skyrim most likely, not that it's bad game really but... it just can't hold my interest very long whenever i try to play it. Same thing happened with Oblivion, only much quicker.

Two games comes to mind, Crusader Kings 2 and Killzone 3.

The first of them, CK2 is both because it's very easy to fuck up if you're not careful or get screwed over by RNG. Also, there are so many different things and goals you achieve in that game, that I find myself starting a new game, after having played for some time with one specific dynasty.

A case of this is when I united Spain into the Empire of Hispania. I started conquering my way into the northwestern part of Africa, but eventually I got a bit bored by that, since I had already achieved my main goal for that time, mainly uniting Spain.

Another example is when I played as Sweden and conquered all of Scandinavia, but because of RNG, my son, which was my heir, died at an early age, meaning my heir would then be my sister, who of course wasn't married matrilenially, meaning my entire kingdom would pass to another dynasty, which really sucked. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.

As for KZ3, I'm only playing the multiplayer. I played the campaign on KZ2 and greatly enjoyed it, because of how intese the fights felt on the higher difficulties(even with that stupid Rico at your side), but I just never felt inclined to play the campaign for 3, because of how much I've enjoyed the multiplayer of both 2 and 3. A human is more interesting to play against, after all, than an AI.

Dark Souls is a good contender, not because it's that hard but because of the "rinse until you've learned the phone-book" design direction.
Look the bosses are very cool, but if you make me grind the last 10-15 minutes before that boss 10+ times(depending on the number of unknown moves you need to memorize), then I won't be doing that for very long.

The World Ends With You and 999 on the DS. That's the problem of dropping story heavy games for a while, you should restart them in my opinion since some of the impact would be lost as you've forgotten everything.

Also 999 features those horrible free Flash game locked room puzzles... Gawd. I mean, the story is looking good and the characters are already set up to have some horrendous backstory that will get you fucked over later on once it is revealed but... Locked room puzzles mang. Just no. :/

Now I REALLY need to get back into Okami. Like RIGHT NOW! Think I just got through the part where you get shrunk and there are those demon spider doors you use the slow time power on? (They did nothing good for my Arachnophobia I can tell you that) Or was that the part before the sunken ship? Cuz i've done that as well.

The one that comes to mind is TES 3: Morrowind. When i first played it, my yaw dropped. The whole world was amazing, and so was the fact that i could just wonder off at any direction i wanted. Hadn`t played anything like it before. I was quite a bit younger back then, and partially since i was really lazy, and partially since my english was pretty bad back then, i didn´t really read much of the text. And, well, that made doing quests a great deal harder. And eventually, I just stopped.

I´ve tried to play it again a few times, but every time i stop playing at a certain point. No idea why, but something about that one place made me lose interest. The place was some sort of a nomad-ish looking camp on the north side of the map. Had to go there because of the main quest. But yeah, it`s a shame i never finished Morrowind. And probably never will.

Crysis 2, borrowed it from a friend, every time I go to play it, it lasts all of five minutes and I put on something that doesn't bore me to all hell.

Bayonetta, no idea, just lost interest, I was enjoy it, but I found making money was a chore (an painfully slow process)
That was a bloody pain in the rear. I haven't picked that game up for so long.

Lost Odyssey

Which is a shame because it really is such a great game. I really wanted to finish it and know what happened but I got JRPG'ed by it...

"Once you go past this point, you cannot return. Are you sure you wish to go on?"

I didn't have troubles against enemies before this so I went for it. However, I couldn't survive against the normal enemies in that place. Well I could but it would drain me of all my stuff and whatnot before I got far enough. I couldn't figure out what to do so running around and getting killed was all I could do.

Unfortunate for I did really like that game.

Demons Souls, it's fun for a while, but I just became to tired of repeating certain sections of the game, that I stopped caring about advancing.

The latest that comes to mind is Prototype. I wasn't invested in the plot at all and gameplay got very repetitive at one point.

Like any gamer I get bored of some games and don't finish - but a game I haven't got bored of but found near-impossible to complete is all of the missions in Grand Theft Auto III. You take any of the games successors, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV etc, and I've completed them. III on the other hand? It appears I've been beaten.

Picked up stronghold 3 and despite hearing and reading of all the bugs the gameplay looked solid enough and it was on sale so why not? Well my peasents get stuck in and around buildings sometimes and in this economy driven game those peasents are everything. Running out of food, materials, weapons. Is it that we need more facilities to keep supplies going? Or is it that one or two of the workers are bugged and you are now feeding people who are just standing in one place, better take time out of your busy schedual of city (or castle layout) planning, deciding what you need more of, and preparing for the next enemy assualt becuase we gotta look around to see if no one is stuck in place....

Fallout new vagas. Its not a bad game but im currently trying to go through city by city in a giant U turn from the starter town S to the right and then up, idk where it is i am (i dont bother remembering names of cities anymore) but ive got to reconnect with a lost outpost and see whats going on, well there are these large armored legion soldiers who take bullets as if it powers them. There arent enough armor peircing bullets in the shops for me to deal with them so screw it....im stuck.

Suikoden 3, ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Five was great though

Final Fantasy XIII. The last area. Just... wow. I'd been farming experience for at least a week and a half straight and I still couldn't get through the trash enemies in the last area. It'd take more willpower than any living creature can possibly muster to waste enough time farming that many enemies for enough experience to get through it. Which means I'll never get to see XIII-2 or Lightning Returns, either. Which is sad.

I'll mention Dark Souls too. I got stuck in Blighttown and started playing another game, and told myself I'd come back to it after a little while. It's been a long time since then, and I have this thing where if I don't play a game for a long time but want to go back to it, I'll have to play it from the start again in case I'd gotten rusty or forgotten anything important. And I really, really don't want to start Dark Souls from the beginning. No way in hell. So I'll probably never get 'round to finishing it.

There're loads more, I buy too many games to play through them all, but those are the main ones that come to mind.
