Pokemon, 200 hours gone just because my sister lent it to her friend who wasn't in tune with the workings of the "save" option.
Which pokemon was it? I would have seriously beaten devastated unless of course i was gonna start again anyway, which actually happened to me, about 50 hours of Pokemon and my sister saved over it, luckily I was about to restart the day I found out what she did. Phew close call

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

if you do the last dungeon in the wrong order, you have to start the entire fucking game over again

I had to restart FF8 at least 4 times. I got stuck, gave up, and deleted the save; I figured that I missed quite a few GF's, my dad lost my memory card when I was near the 4th disc, and I'm playing it on my computer now. I've since found the memory card, but I can't transfer the file. I am never going to finish that game...

Yes Link's Awakening really pissed me off but ll go with a more recent game.

Fallout 3. I had all bobble heads except one and so after scavenging through the entire wasteland I gave up and consulted game faqs. I suddenly saw I forgot the one inside the Enclaves base, which blows up and becomes in inaccessible. Achievement busted have to start from scratch.

Armored Core: for Answer. I had to rebuild all my mechs after patch 1.3 hit.

Frustrating. As. Hell. The entire game's speed was reduced to 50%ish.

My heart goes out to all of you. Some of these are Shakespearean in their tragedy.

For my most recent one, it was Banjo Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade. Because in spite of hiring an entire team to port the game they still couldn't solve a simple note glitch.

I mean, I say simple. It might not have been. It might have been code-breaking to try to fix. It may have driven people insane trying to mend. But still.

I want my Haunted Mansion notes.

*pout*

First time I played Thief 3 on the XBOX, I was having so much fun I forgot to save. At all. By the time I finally got killed I had done the first two missions and was in the city when guards got me. I died escaping the jail...then realized I didn't save my game at all.

I remember the first Diablo having a bug which caused it to sometimes generate a maze without connections to the staircase to the lower dungeons. Had to completely restart after a few levels just when things were becoming interesting...

Diablo 2 and Soulreaver 2 are games that I start over with a smile one my face... oh and Hellgate got a share of restarting too.

Besides that I'm not a great fan of restarting games. A friend got me Oblivion, somewhere in the middle of the game I critical error and the save became corrupted, I picked up the game and returned it.
Playing FF7... had to format the pc, lost the save. thrown the game into a drawer and never looked back.

Final Fantasy VII, freaking crashed my PS1 when I used the Save Crystal in the Nothern Cave after I grinded (grinded? Ground? Can you say "ground" in this sense?) for about a day and a half, so I went slightly mad and refused to play it for a couple of years.

I restarted PC Fable when I discovered you get gross and wrinkly when you become uber, so I could hero save/reload over and over and sacrifice traders to the Chapel of Skorm on the Lost Trader quest in order to keep getting younger.

Ohohohohoho, what a wonderful thread to say this story; Final Fantasy X
I restarted that game more than all others combined. Every single time i got stuck, basicly, I'd restart and keep trying to get better by that point, untill I'd get stuck again and restart. It was a loop. I personaly dont even know why I did that back when i played that, but I did and did a lottttttt.

I did the same thing except I blew up Megaton and hadn't realized one was there.

Fable 2: at first, I chose the option of the money after beating the main story, and was greatly pissed when I realized I still needed the dog for some quests. very lame.
if you download the expansion you can get your dog back. go to the graveyard on knothole island and examine the headstones. one of them will return your dog.

I had to replay the first 8 hours of Half Life 1 (which included the first time you meet that damn fish *shudder*) just because I thought that Quick Save was a whole lot better than it really was.

Fallout 1, I got up to the Millitary base and then realized that putting 200 points into small guns and none into big guns or energy weapons had left me with no chance of victory.
