In Timen Ni Grue's control room when Arkham stabs Lady for her blood, why does he just slice her leg rather than stab her? Although it's interesting to note that Lady has a dressing on that wound for the rest of the game, and then in DMC 4 she has a scar there.

Seriously, what's up with that?

In Fallout 3 before Broken Steel, you couldn't just send Fawkes or another character that was immune to radiation to activate the purifier for you.
Seriously. That was all that was on my mind when the big "who is going to sacrifice themselves to save the world" thing at the end was going on. Fawkes was just like "Oh no, not me. I mean, it wouldn't hurt me at all whatsoever but that wouldn't make you a martyr and we can't have that at the end of a fallout game."

I dunno if plotholes is the right word for this, but I mean just things in gaming that dont make sense...such as characters/people not dying from stuff that should obviously kill them, or just plain weird stuff that makes no logical sense, so ya, insert some of your observations of this ridiculousness...
You know what is the biggest difference between reality and fiction? It's that fiction has to make sense. A lot of things that happen in our lives don't make sense. So, in order for a game to seem real some things in it doesn't have to make sense .

I hate paradoxes :<

Something I was wondering about in Mass Effect is why the Council believed you when you showed them the audio tape. It's the future, so there's probably technology that would let you change your voice. So I imagine making fake audio recordings wouldn't be to hard.

In Far Cry 2, who the hell is that guy on the phone telling me to kill people? How did you even know to call him?

In Killzone 2, where:

Your friend dies from a shot to the torso (apparently it's the torso but i thought he was shot in the arm). Previously I have shot him 50 times in the face, blown him up and cut him up with my knife. When I do this, his health reaches zero and he goes down. Then all I need to do is revive him with a magical zapping device and he's as good as new. Why couldn't I use it before he died?

Which brings me to my next point; I hate it when you can revive a fallen team member but when you go down they can't revive you.

Any World War II shooter (Medal of Honor has the biggest problem with this) where you are seldom with a squad and spend the majority of the game by yourself taking on the entire German/Japanese military ... and you don't die after clearing the first bunker. Worst of all, there is no reason as to why you are capable of demolishing the Nazi war machine without even a squad - no superhuman abilities, no magical suit, not even spec ops training - you're just a regular soldier with Master Chief-esque abilities.

A voice is a surprisingly complex thing, and if you had the tech to synthesize any voice, you would also certainly have the tech to analyze whether it has been really produced by an organic creature or a computer.

I'm going to make a sweeping generalization here: stupid villains. Don't imprison the hero, don't let him have a last word, and for the love of God don't let him escape so you can "test his strength" later! Just take a gun/sword and kill him already!

My main example is with Final Fantasy 12 (which I'm still playing atm) and its technology...the people of Ivalice have the technology to make airships such as these...

...yet their architecture is all old fashioned, and their farthest technologic advancement as far as guns go, is the musket...
I think that's why FANTASY is in the title, it doesn't HAVE to make sense.

The entire story of Mass Effect. The whole thing was Saren trying to find the conduit, but all he used the conduit for was the get a bunch of geth onto the citadel so that he could get past security and get into the council tower so that he could turn control of the citadel over to Sovereign. But the only reason why he wasn't able to get past security in the first place was because he attacked Eden Prime in an attempt to find the conduit.

All he would have needed to do was get the geth and Sovereign to attack the citedel (as they did and succeeded at) and, in the confusion, walk to the council tower (which would be lightly defended at best and defended by people who would think that he was their friend) and turn over control to Sovereign. Game over. Reapers invade. Commander Shepard never even gets involved.

So they put thier technical know how into something worthwhile... such as airships and classy architecture instead of weapons... what is wrong with that? the world would probably be a better place if people stopped focusing on tech for new ways to give each others deads.

and i thought that as a video game (and a jrp in particular), the concept was to be as un-realistic as possible?

I think it's because he has some sense of humanity in him and can't bear to kill his own daughter in such a way, a devil would have though. It's why the power of sparta didn't work for him.
At least thats my theory

There's also never a good explanation offered for why the enemy's high command hasn't noticed the straight-line trail of destruction from five sunken U-boats in a gutted port with a massacred garrison, through a smashed-up station, a burned-out fuel depot, the wreckage of three trains and a station full of their soldiers' corpses to an airfield where half the personnel are dead and some of the buildings are on fire ...

... and sent the entire Luftwaffe to carpet-bomb you.
