Jack ? Night, Temple Team

Jack stared at Sol as he grabbed the shadow beings attention. He simply stared on as the Sol scanned through the tables he had already gone over. He looked to be studying but the limited books left gave him nothing.

He watched him try to mime him a message but Jack simply stared at him. He extends his arm and points towards the closet.

Just come over here. I don?t want to explore this alone? That was rather pathetic now that I think about it.

He thinks as he continues pointing. He could probably put the books down in a pile however and pick them up on the way out. Actually, if he wanted to phase out of here he?d have to give them to Sol anyways. He slowly sets the books back on the table. Forming nice organized piles.

Sol saw Jack's gesture, the pointing at the closet. If Jack had intended to go on his own, he'd have "phased" through it or whatever, wouldn't he?

Was he waiting for me? Or is it a warning? Or could it just be that he doesn't want to open the closet on his own?

An odd thought, but as he realized Jack wasn't going to leave -even as the shadow being left the books on the table- Sol realized it was likely the latter. Smirking, he made another gesture, towards the closet, and upon receiving confirmation, he walked over to it. Carefully, he tried to see if he could tell anything about the contents from the outside -there had to be a reason Jack was so wary- yet he couldn't.

Well then.

He thought, looking at the mystery door Jack had pointed at.

It's been a while since I've seen the inside of a closet.

He grinned even more, a quiet chuckle to himself, before he opened the closet-door, carefully. If anything bad was inside, he'd get away immediately.

The door slowly swung open, to reveal a set of stairs descending at a sharp angle, and around a corner, as there seemed to be some light source, which turned out to be a row of candles to keep a dim light over a hallway that lead to an underground chamber that looked less like a 'cultist hang out' and more like 'science lab' with all the strange equipment, that almost looked alive.

the literal center piece where eight tubes with some strange creatures in them, said creatures looked, to an extent like severed demonic heads with very wide mouths that looked like they lead into nothingness rather then a digestive system. These creatures seemed to have also noticed Sol and Jack, but made no move that could be considered as 'hostile' in stead, they seemed 'happy' to see them, presumably these creatures thought Jack and Sol where part of the cult.

Off to the far side was a closed door, to which a muffled voice could be heard.

"Yes sir, the 'Gate Keepers' are ahead of schedule, and will be ready to be panted and put into use before the next full moon in the human realm." a female voice said.

"It's does you credit to see the mercy granted you by our lord from your prior failure has bolstered your efforts. He will be most pleased with this report." a second, male voice said, though this one seemed to be talking through something else due to something a kin to 'radio static'.

Jack ? Night, Temple Team

As the door swung open, Jack couldn?t help but think.

Well that?s not good.

He slowly edged his form past the door frame. He slowly melted until he was a mere shadow on the wall before proceeding, virtually gliding along the wall and down the staircase just in case anyone was ahead. Upon sensing the eight figures ahead, Jack sticks the shadows, trying his best not to get spotted. He enters and sees the eight figures and slightly relaxes. Seeing as how they couldn?t get out he hovers a few inches off the ground.

He takes a second look around the room. Noticing the equipment and sensing others in a different room. He takes a long look at the creatures as he listens in on the cultist?s conversation. Trying his best to figure out what the ?Gate Keepers? were. He?d assume it was the creatures inside the tubes for now. He made a mental note to definitely grab the books on the way out, seeing as how they had information about the ?Gate Keepers.? He turns to Sol and whispers to him.

?Should we get a closer look on our two cultist friends??

Juliet - Midday, Park Team

'Before I can leave and relocate to your sanctuary, You will need to undue the wards that bind me here.'

Ugh, stay out of my head. Juliet thought to herself, though outwardly she smiled and nodded. Still she had to consider the information carefully before acting. Six wards in total, could be guarded in some way for all we know, though this is daytime in a park so an armed response seems somewhat unlikely...

"Alright," she said to the group "we'll start with the Northmost ward, if we don't run into any resistance we'll give some thought to splitting up to get it done faster, but for now we move as a group. Unless anyone knows how to disenchant them we'll be smashing them, though only once I give the go ahead, we don't want to draw the wrong sort of attention."

With that she took the lead heading to the Northmost ward, so far this didn't seem particularly interesting to her though honestly getting it over quickly could be preferable to getting bogged down in a fight in a public park. If the wards had anyone around them then they'd need to work out a distraction before smashing them, though that could be a simple matter. Can either do something to get attention myself, or just charm someone into making a fool of themselves. Any one of us should be able to break stone that thin, even if its somewhat reinforced.

"Alpha Five is ready for insertion, Keep in mind, I'm not going to be talking a whole lot when sneaking. Sort of ruins the "being quiet" part. You should be able to hear if something goes wrong."

Viktor gritted his teeth. Are you surprised? They?re not soldiers. He knew he shouldn?t expect ?military? professionalism out of a group of what were essentially civilians. That said, Solomon?s behaviour was getting under his skin.

"Alpha Five is inside, undetected."

That?s better.

"Alpha Five, again, there's a room here, a ceremonial chamber with a lot of sleeping people. There's six of them. They could be sacrifices, or they could be cultists, I'm not sure. I'm going to avoid them for now, though, no need to engage them if I don't have to."

?Alpha Five, Alpha One. Cut the goddamn chatter.? He hissed into his mic. I thought having a hunter would be an improvement over a walking flower? Still hidden in his bush, Viktor took a moment to settle himself before closing his eyes. Concentrating on just his hearing, he tried to listen for any sounds of approaching trouble. There were multiple heart beats and other noises coming from the temple itself masking Solomon?s own; on the other hand the others outside with him stood out like flares in the darkness?though he thought he could hear something else near Jarrah?s position. Not animal, too faint and erratic to positively I.D. Grimacing, he keyed his mic. ?Alpha One, Alpha Three, do you copy? Am detecting unknown contact near your location, be alert.?

Tomas

Tomas didn't like having someone in his head as listen to them. Though he didn't give much thought as he listen to Juliet plan of how to deal with these wards. "Fine by me, though I'm not sure who all be packing heavy in a park like this.." He mention as he look around the area. It seem to out in the open to do anything drastic.

Following the others to the first ward while he kept a eye out just incase. While he still believe in his own words that nothing will happen, he knew sometimes life just loves to punch you in the nuts for letting your guard down.

William

While Will at first was scared of hearing the voice in his head, he actually like how the guy talk. Smiling a bit as it seem like a easy job to do. Just destroy the wards and they'll be home free. Hearing Juliet comment on how to handle things, William did have a question. "Um..how many wards are there? And will we be splitting up into two teams or we each go and destroy a ward ourselves?" William ask as they head to the first Ward.

"Alpha Five, Alpha One. Cut the goddamn chatter."

Just before Sol entered the closet, he heard Viktor's voice, not very pleased with him. Feeling like a fool, Sol realized that he'd likely blabbered a bit too much earlier, being more comfortable speaking like that than limiting himself.

How to make it perfectly clear that I never went to high school, huh.

At least he'd try to be correct when replying. Now, how was it Viktor did it? Right.

"Alpha One; Alpha Five. Copy." he whispered back, a bit unsure, but hoping he'd done it correctly. As he and Jack made their way down the stairs, he noted the demon heads, that seemed almost pleased to see them, likely believing that they weren't enemies.

Creepy.

"Yes sir, the 'Gate Keepers' are ahead of schedule, and will be ready to be panted and put into use before the next full moon in the human realm."

Gate keepers, full moon. I'll have to keep this in mind.

"It's does you credit to see the mercy granted you by our lord from your prior failure has bolstered your efforts. He will be most pleased with this report."

Is that radio static?

"Should we get a closer look on our two cultist friends?"

"I'm not sure there's two present," Sol replied in a whisper. For a moment, he considered letting Viktor know, but the vampire had already given him the instruction to be quiet.

But it wasn't dangerous from where I was.

Else he would never have spoken. Even so, he decided against it. Instead, he continued to address Jack alone.

"That woman seems to be in charge of this. Possess her, she's the ideal target. I'll follow to make sure nothing goes wrong." He activated the amulet, waiting for Jack to move, ready to follow him down, unseen, unheard, and unaccounted for.

Let's hope I'm correct in my assumptions, and there only is one person down there.

'You must be the group here to collect me for your group. Excellent. I've grow weary of this passive existence.' A voice said in the minds of the group, the voice carrying a regal and commanding air to it. 'Before I can leave and relocate to your sanctuary, You will need to undue the wards that bind me here.'

Mirabelle nearly jumped out of her mesh at the suddenness of the voice, still distressed about the enemies who could be around. Still, once she got over that, she was simply amazed by the fact that she could here it at all. She wished she could study how that was possible and maybe make a reasonable facsimile of it, easily thinking of the uses for both her and the group...but that would have to wait, since she had no idea how to even begin analyzing such methods. Instead, she payed close attention to the voice and it's instructions before hearing Juliet speak up.

"Alright, we'll start with the Northmost ward, if we don't run into any resistance we'll give some thought to splitting up to get it done faster, but for now we move as a group. Unless anyone knows how to disenchant them we'll be smashing them, though only once I give the go ahead, we don't want to draw the wrong sort of attention.

She felt fine with that plan...though the splitting up part sounded very risky. If one of them got attacked, they would be hard-pressed to get to them in time to help...not to mention any ambushes they could lay on the way for those who did try. Still, she still wasn't sure there were any threats in these woods, so maybe it would be okay? ...Maybe it would be best to stay paranoid though, just in case.

"Fine by me, though I'm not sure who all be packing heavy in a park like this."

Mira stopped for a second, realizing that Tomas probably hadn't seen or heard of how their enemies acted. Maybe she shouldn't have assumed that her group had known about them...well, maybe she should inform him.

"Regalia, maybe...they seemed pretty brazen about it last time..."

"Um..how many wards are there? And will we be splitting up into two teams or we each go and destroy a ward ourselves?"

Well...there was an idea that she hadn't considered. Two to a team would work better, the two members could help make up for their own individual weaknesses and provide instant back up...she just needed to make sure that the other team knew the threat that they were facing.

"Um...just out of curiosity, how much do you guys know about the group that attacked the school?"

Jack ? Night, Temple

Jack was listening to the voices while he waited for Sol to reply. It was then the hunter said.

"I'm not sure there's two present,"

Jack smirks at the thought of only one being there. Being alone made you an easy target.

"That woman seems to be in charge of this. Possess her, she's the ideal target. I'll follow to make sure nothing goes wrong."

Seeing his companion disappear causes him to grin as he slowly creeps towards the target. He blends in on the wall again and positions himself behind the woman. Once he was completely in place, he rushes out and surrounds her body. Little to no sound made as he clogs her airways with shadows. It takes a bit because of the latent magic in her body. Her resistance in the end is futile as he soon has control. A certain predator like shine in her eyes as he begins sifting through the woman?s most recent memories, specifically the conversation she was having.

As Jack dug into the mind of this priestess/scientist, it triggered a set of runes on the woman's forehead, they started to glow at first, something Jack would have noticed, but after about five seconds the Runes stopped glowing and the woman's head exploded with a grotesque sounding squish/popping sound, and her body fell to the floor leaving Jack unharmed and with nothing more then the face and name of the person she'd been talking to, to show for it.

Outside, in a tree ...

Sierra stretched her wings a bit and wondered how things where going inside. She was kinda bored and wanted something to happen to alleviate said boredom.

Sol had been correct, there was only one person in the room. Still, he didn't make himself reappear, not until he was sure everything had gone well. He was about to do so after a while, when he was sure Jack had possessed the woman, but he stopped, runes glowing on their new hostage's forehead.

Wait, what---

Her head exploded, and he had to shield himself from getting any of it in his face. His hair was less fortunate, but he quickly gathered himself enough to start cleaning it off, appearing as he did. The phone-call between the woman and her accomplice had ended, though he didn't know at what time. For a moment, he looked at the hand he had been cleaning with, that had been a bad choice.

Ewwwwwwww. Was that an eye?

"My god, what did you do?" he asked, making an effort to seem more settled than he was. "Her head just... God. That's inconvenient and gross, two of my least favorite things." Had this happened from the possession?

Of course they would've put some rune on for something like that.

"I think we're done here," he shuddered, as he kept pulling stuff he didn't want to even look at out of his hair. "If we can't bring them in, we might as well call for backup. Besides, my hair is full of face-parts, and I don't like it."

At least I'm not wearing my own clothes.

"Or do you disagree? If possessing one of them causes their heads to blow up, I don't see what the use of this is. We've gotten the information we can, about these gate-keepers of them. I'd reckon that's either the people sleeping upstairs, or someone not present."

Jack ? Night, Shrine

Jack hadn?t gotten very far when he felt something was? Off. What was wrong with this woman? He saw a bright light on her forward through her eyes before everything shone too brightly for a second. Then he was back in his natural form? He looked down and spotted the woman?s head on the ground. ?Well? That?s? strange?? He says slowly looking at the corpse. It?s then that he realizes that the information in her head was forever gone. His anger starts off as a little fire but quickly turns into more of a bonfire. His anger takes hold as he uses some of his shadows to rip the rest of her limbs off and release some anger. ?No one keeps me from information. I will pry whatever these gatekeepers are from the lifeless corpses of everyone here if I have to.? He says to himself as he turns away.

"My god, what did you do? Her head just... God. That's inconvenient and gross, two of my least favorite things."

?I didn?t do anything on purpose.? He replies while staring at Sol. Trying his best not to chuckle at his misfortune for being in the blast radius.

"I think we're done here, if we can't bring them in, we might as well call for backup. Besides, my hair is full of face-parts, and I don't like it."

?Might as well, I think the majority of the resistance were the outside guards. We?ll have to figure out something with the sleeping ones upstairs.? Not that he cared for their safety. He just didn?t want them getting in the way.

"Or do you disagree? If possessing one of them causes their heads to blow up, I don't see what the use of this is. We've gotten the information we can, about these gate-keepers of them. I'd reckon that's either the people sleeping upstairs, or someone not present."

?I don?t know if it?s the possession or me trying to extract information from their minds.? He responds as he walks past Sol. ?We need to do something about these ?gatekeepers? as they call them.? He says as he walks into the other room and stares at the tubes.

"I don't know if it's the possession or me trying to extract information from their minds. We need to do something about these "gatekeepers" as they call them."

"You did what?" Sol replied, eyebrow raised. Had the rune activated after that? Perhaps it as forcefully extracting the information that had done it?

Not that it matters.

"I thought... no, it doesn't matter, I'm contacting the others." With that, he spoke to the rest. Not even bothering to think of what would be the right way of saying it, he spoke, sort of in a bad mood.

"Alpha Five here, had hostage, her head exploded. Some sort of rune that activated when Alpha four did his thing. We're ready to initiate the next part of the plan, just keep away from the main chamber." With that, he decided to start walking upstairs.

I need a drink. And a bed. And to get laid, and not have to think about the fact that apparently this got completely messed up. I wonder if it was a mistake to come here. Even if I'm doing Lenah a favor. At least the insides of that woman's head seems to be out of my hair. Literally.

It wasn't worth dwelling on. Well, the latter part, anyhow, getting laid was definitely on his "to-do-list" for the night.

"Well, we might as well head back and see what the sleeping people are, and get the books and all that." Without waiting for Jack, he walked ahead, carefully walking into the room, only to observe the sleeping people.

I wonder... should we try waking them up?

"Um..how many wards are there? And will we be splitting up into two teams or we each go and destroy a ward ourselves?"

"There are six wards in all," she replied "and if we split up it'll be into groups of two, Tomas will head the second group."

"Um...just out of curiosity, how much do you guys know about the group that attacked the school?"

"Not a lot," Juliet admitted, slightly annoyed by her lack of knowledge "care to fill us in?"

She wasn't too concerned about the weapons Mira seemed so worried about, she could heal from fairly significant damage after all though it would leave her out of commission for a while. That said it was better to know what they were up against, if for no other reason than to assuage Mira's worries about it.

After his chastisement of Solomon, Viktor?s radio chattered once more.

"Alpha One; Alpha Five. Copy."

Well at least the boy is learning?I guess. With no signs of commotion from inside, he continued to watch and listen to his surroundings; the aberrant noise near Jarrah bothered him, but it seemed unchanged so there was little for him to do. The minutes ticked by until his ear piece came to life once more.

"Alpha Five here, had hostage, her head exploded. Some sort of rune that activated when Alpha Four did his thing. We're ready to initiate the next part of the plan, just keep away from the main chamber."

Head exploding runes?that was unexpected. ?Alpha Five, Alpha One. Copy, maintain contact with Alpha Four and hold position, will RV on your location.? With that he switched to a channel to the other two outside. Alpha Two, Alpha Three, Alpha One. Change of plans; the infil team hit a roadblock, their captive had some sort of deadman rune attached. We?ll RV with Alpha Four and proceed with a sweep and clear; infil with maximum discretion.

Sierra, hearing the order to move out, glided silently from her perch in the tree she'd been in, to the side of the temple, and worked around to one of the open doors, and sneaked in.

Once inside, she saw the group sleepers, and an open closet, with books stacked next to it, and stopped to think whether to deal with the sleepers or grab the books and start going through them.

"Alpha One, Alpha Three, do you copy? Am detecting unknown contact near your location, be alert."

"I copy Alpha One." Jarrah said, before he shifted positions, trading the cover of a bush for the top of a nearby tree. In the Yowie's mind, he didn't even think that Viktor could be referring to the cultists he had knocked out before, and instead settled in, waiting for a new cultist to come through the undergrowth. As the minutes ticked by the silence only broken by the occasional radio chatter, Jarrah became increasingly agitated and confused as a cultist didn't appear, and he considered contacting Viktor when his radio crackled once again.

"Alpha Two, Alpha Three, Alpha One. Change of plans; the infil team hit a roadblock, their captive had some sort of deadman rune attached. We'll RV with Alpha Four and proceed with a sweep and clear; infil with maximum discretion."

"This is Alpha Three, I'm moving towards the temple." Jarrah said as he dropped to the ground and took off through the woods. With nary a rustle he reached the edge of the temple grounds, and quickly crossed the more open ground before slipping inside. The sight of the sleeping cultists relieved Jarrah, and gave him hope that the violence Viktor had told of when he was describing the plan wouldn't come to pass. Spotting Sierra, Jarrah gave a smile and a curt wave, before turning to the paraphernalia at the perimeter of the room and studying it.

"I copy Alpha One."

When the big Aussie moved, the unknown contact remained in place. Odd, maybe it?s nothing-huh? With Jarrah moving off, Viktor could hear the sound better now that the Yowie?s powerful heartbeat was no longer overwhelming it. After a good listen, he sighed to himself. He may not be cut out for this?

As he made his way towards the temple, Viktor saw movement out of the corner of his eye; turning to watch, he realized it was Sierra gliding in. Would?ve been nice if she?d fucking acknowledged?but not surprised? He thought with a grimace. If Seth is so hot and bothered about her staying, he should be the one riding herd on her ass.

"This is Alpha Three, I'm moving towards the temple."

?Copy.? He said plainly as he approached. Getting to the temple, he found himself in front of a wall with a slightly opened window. Curling a hand around the window, he quietly slid it open enough to fit his large frame through before slipping into the room; standing, he found himself in the room Solomon had described, six figures were still blissfully unaware, snoring softly on their sleeping mats. Nodding to his three teammates, he quietly picked his way over to Sierra, waving for Solomon to stay where he was for now.

Getting right beside her, he spoke in a barely audible whisper. ?On my signal I want you to eliminate those three.? He said, pointing to three on the cultists on the floor. If she positioned herself correctly she?d be able to get two with a simple draw cut across their throats, while manually dealing with the third. ?I?ll handle the pair across from them; the sixth one, we keep?with any luck he may know something.? The tone in his voice suggested Viktor found that doubtful.

Leaving Sierra to get ready, he ghosted over to Jarrah, speaking in the same low whisper, this time pointing out the one cultist he wanted alive. ?If he wakes up, keep his silent and restrained.? Moving to his two targets, he positioned his hands over their throats for a crushing blow. In position, he made eye contact with Sierra. Three, two, one! He mouthed; on ?One? he brought his hands down hard, squeezing as he did.

Sol watched as the others made their way into the main chamber, stepping away from the sleeping people and gathering the books into his arms. Apparently there wasn't a lot of guards apart from the ones they had already taken care of.

How many was that? There can't have been enough people for keeping 6 sacrifices like this. Especially not if they were as important as these gate keepers.

Of the latter he was sure, not even these guys would be stupid enough to keep important people like that with this few guards. The thing he wasn't too sure about was whether they could be normal sacrifices or not.

They wouldn't.

At least, as he watched the others prepare to murder most of the sleepers, he sincerely hoped so. He had warned Viktor about that these might be innocent people, if the vampire was risking it, he had to have some sort of clue, right?

The only one inside, in a position to watch them was that woman. They can't be innocent people.
