Vrylian fell, Viktor landed the killing blow and soon the gigantic demon lay dead. It might take some digging to get at this one's heart but the prize would be well worth it. Before she could make a move to that effect a new arrival interrupted the groups victory.
"What makes you think you lot are going anywhere?"
Lucifer himself. Well shit. She weighed her options carefully, surrendering and joining Lucifer was an option, but she doubted that if she did so the rest of the group would let her survive the battle. Even if she did there was no certainty Lucifer would spare her, traitors were rarely received well even here in the demon realms. Her other option seemed equally bad though, Lucifer was said to be immensely powerful, although there was the faint hope that he was still weakened by his recent revival. Then again we aren't at our top strength right now either. She glanced over her allies, they had just been through a difficult battle.
She supposed there was one other choice, namely escape. At least some of the others, Viktor no doubt, would attempt to fight Lucifer no matter how hopeless which could provide a sufficient distraction. She wasn't sure where to flee to but it seemed the most survivable option.
Finally there was the option of attempting to talk there way out, which seemed laughable at best. Perhaps we'd stand more of a chance if I claimed the Vrylian's heart... It seemed doubtful but she'd certainly be stronger, if she even had time to dig it out and consume it.
She inched back towards its body, trying to estimate how long it would take her to reach the heart. If she could tear open a wound perhaps she could become a snake and try to burrow deeper like that. Certainly not the most pleasant route but quite possibly the fastest.
"Anyone have a plan?" she said.
