Girl Gamers are hot?

Hi, I'm a gamer, and I'm a girl.

A hang out with guys who play video games a lot. They keep telling me that being a girl who plays and GETS video games like they do makes me "hotter". I personally have no idea how playing video games makes me more attractive.

So I'm asking, do you believe this to be true? Why or why not? And if you're a girl gamer, has this ever been said to you? What are your feelings on it?

Probably only so much as it's a shared interest.

There's really nothing much to say someone is 'hotter because they game' other then the fact that you do it, so it makes them more appealing.

I kind of prefer the fact that my wife isn't. We do tons of other stuff together and although she may play a game or two, it's nice that I have something that is just mine while she does other girly stuff.

Yea I have been told that before. Found it kinda weird the first time.
When I tell them what games I am into and that I love computers, their first reactions are usually 'No way? Really?!' Like they don't believe me.
One guy was surprised I play Resident Evil.
Now I just find it freaking hilarious.

It's probably not used in the sense of physical attractiveness. "Hot" can be applied to any sort of attractiveness, and a woman who also plays video games is someone who I might find more socially/emotionally attractive, due to greater chance of interest compatibility.

Girl gamers can be more attractive, but generally only if you both play the same sorts of games and can interact in a multiplayer setting.

but hell, if I run into a girl gamer, I'll change what sort of game I prefer to match hers in a heartbeat. Yes, I'm a hollow, desperate shade-of-a-man, why do you ask?

I know 2 or 3 actually attractive female gamers (i know they are female because of webcam/skype conversations). And i dont think they are any more attractive because they are gamers.

Maybe they think that because it gives them an easy excuse to hang out with a girl without having to worry about talking too much. They can just blame the silence on concentration and become more familiar with you before they start opening up to you and talking.

People finding things in common with a member of the opposite gender makes them happier. Both genders, and few exceptions. Games are not one of those exceptions. It's the same with music, finding a female who shares my taste in music makes me give them a much less skeptical personality check.

This theory has the opposite effect with me. I think its cause guys are worried about their manhood. My brother hasn't touched the guitar hero guitar since I perfected a song on expert in front of his girlfriend.

I like the fact that it gives you another thing to talk about as well as the shared interest. Imo it does little to help your attractiveness but it certainly doesn't hurt. I am pretty sure it your attractiveness goes up because you are different than the rest of the girls in the world.
