WHAT THE BUGGERY

Surely that kid couldn't have gone through puberty yet?
not to be judgmental or anything at all, but we had lots of people immigrate from mexico to my area growing up, and let me tell you..they had mustaches/puberty up the yin yang a solid year or two before most of us.

so yeah, coming to this, i can highly believe it. (hell one time in 5th grade, roughly about 10-11 years old, this one super matured chick showed us her boobs trying to get a boyfriend out of one of us...sadly at the time, we all thought boobs were gross still.)

First line:
"A 10-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy in Mexico..."

But really, what kind of sex with a ten year old girl is there besides 'rape'?
An 11 year old boy and a ten year old girl? Or should both be deemed rapists and pedophiles in that case?

And everyone saying "only in mexico" from the U.S, check the birth list on the wiki.

There was an 11 year old as recent as last year and a ten year old 3 years ago.

I read that as "Girl gives birth a 10", like "Edge gives Skyward Sword a 10".

I'm on this site way too much.

Okay than... According to wiki, a 5 year old gave birth once.
Wut.

That has extremely disgusting implications, even more so than the 10 year old.
The condition is called "precocious puberty."

Sad, the little girl must have either been exploited or forcefully abused by someone, either way I'm disappointed that the Mexican authorities couldn't have helped her have a safe abortion and avoid further trauma though I'm not really surprised to be honest. Physical ability for reproduction doesn't automatically equal emotional or mental readiness.

Is this a discussion?
Do you need me to hold your hand? Aren't you a big enough kid that you don't need a question to reply to a topic?
Its a legitimate question in that I too am not sure what there is to discuss about this. Its not really news that child abuse happens in mexico, and unless this was intended to flame up into another debate about sex with children I don't see what discussion value this story has. Sky is blue, water is wet, the escapist forum has pedo lurkers, and kids get abused in mexico... /thread.

Still this is something that can happen especially now given that the chemicals in our food has been speeding up the growth process.
Myth. Societal pressures affect things like female puberty and fetal gender selection far more than hormones and chemicals in food.
Waaah? I don't even understand how that is supposed to work but I can understand steroids changing someone's body because that happens all the time and those were the types of chemicals I was referring too.

Age of consent in Spain is 13, Italy and the Vatican have it at 14.

Oh, and yeah, the youngest known mum was 5.

Wow you need to brush up on basic reading comprehension skills. The location is stated in the first sentence of the article. 30th word of the post. Perhaps some extra reading of posts before commenting might help you out.
In his defense, I thought it was New Mexico before I read all of the posts. Dunno why that is.

Um...ew? I don't think I need to say anything more about that.

Seriously, am I the only person on this site who's old and jaded enough not to be fazed by this story?

A lot of stuff isn't socially acceptable but happens on a daily basis anyway. It's not a sign of impending armageddon, it's just crazy ol' human nature.

Besides, the notion that sex under the age of 16/18 is unnatural is a fairly new one. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is 13 and Romeo is somewhere around 15 or 16. In most civilisations, girls have tended to be seen as sexually viable as soon as they reach puberty. Why do we automatically assume that this 10-year old MUST have been the victim of a drug-addled gang-rape at the hands of gorillas, and the whole sordid affair is a damning reflection of how morally bankrupt Mexicans are... it could have just been two young kids experimenting sexually and nature taking its course?

But, silly me, reactionary moral outrage is more satisfying.

See, this is why I would never ban abortion.

Next time some near-sighted pro-life shmuck talks to you, just throw this story in their face and watch them squirm.

Negative. A 5 year old wouldn't be able to give birth to a full-sized live baby.

Yeah, stuff like tha happens every now and then. There was a girl at my school who gave birth in the 8th grade (I never felt sorry for her though. She was a total asshole).

By the way, that 5 year old thing really happened.

Wait the age of consent in Mexico is 12? Yet some guy had to go even lower than that? Also sucks for the kid though she might get some donations, end up on a Ellen or murry or something(Mexican Murry?) and become marginally famous for this, get enough to help the kid(s).

While it is true that such things were once pretty normal (10 has been viewed as too young by the West for quite some time, a few hundred years ago, 12 was a more common cut off point, IIRC), that's not to say it's acceptable now. Understandable, yes, but not acceptable.

I'd also agree that this sort of thing is hardly uncommon. A few months ago in the US, a 10 or 11 year old girl was gang-raped, the judge blamed her for dressing and acting like a 20 year old, and the community cried out in despair at how their men/boys have had their lives ruined by this terrible event. If it wasn't for the last two points, it probably wouldn't have been newsworthy.
