I was in a Halo 3 tournament that was held between my high school and my friend's high school. The tournament was 3 rounds of team slayer BR, CTF BR, and assault BR, best 2 out of 3 wins of course. Out of almost 100 people (we recruited more people than expected by more than double lol) that has entered into 4 man (and woman of course ;) teams, about 4 teams had at least one of them female and those actually almost made it furthere than the other teams. I picked my team by choosing 2 of my friends that were good at Halo 3 and I decided to get a girl. I have to say I was pleasently surprised to find out she was better than my 2 friends almost... I trained her for about 2 weeks and we won the tournament to almost the point of where she could possibly defect me like she did my friends lol. I will admit if it wasn't for her, we probably would have had a much harder time. Me and her got perfections and exterminations by double teaming the whole opposing team. We almost hooked up if her brother wasn't my rl enemy :/ and no my friend go eliminated in the semi-finals... to a team with the MVP being a girl. Although there's rarely any girls playing games, most of them could kick any of our asses, I'd bet. Now to do a Killzone 2 tournament... now that would be epic.

I'm not afraid to admit it, i've been beaten by a girl on halo 3.
Just because you're a girl shouldn't mean you should not or can not play games.
To be honest, I'd love if more girls played games

Once, when playing Puzzle Pirates (yay?), I picked a girl pirate character, thinking nothing of it (just in case the inference isn't clear, I'm a bloke), and definitely not being one of thems much-stereotyped WoWers who play as a girl for attention. Anywho, having joined a fledgling crew in the hope that I could become an officer quickly there, which I did, I ended up as the second in command, behind some guy pirate (?!). After a while, he started saying that I was getting 'out of line' and that he didn't like my behaviour. He then started saying that I was out of line as a woman, expecting to drive the boats!? All this while I'm actually a guy (who assumes female MMO characters to be real-life females?)?!

This was a little shocking actually. I'm usually a bit of a sexist myself, but to have that guy just make judgements for no reason at all except that 'I was a girl' was pretty eye-opening.

Many many years ago I had the "omg girls cant play games" thought. That was until I came across a girl marine/sniper trialing for the AvP2 clan I ran. Safe to say she kicked everyones arse....since then - lets say I love playing against girls, some are often the most skilled players I've come across.

I like girls, and most males would agree with me. Girls are a fundamental part of life for a guy, else life would be one loooooong football locker room.
Oh I like them. Alot. Sadly, most of them either don't like me, or 'not in that way'. But anywho...

I get mistaken for a girl all the time, because of (I presume my gamertag is the reason!!) is Pennyy9. Pennyy is my nickname. And so it begins. I cant play because I'm a girl, don't let me have the sniper because I'm a girl. Hey look, she has a BR, you could kill her easy because... you know. This is only when I don't use my mic, but the small times I don't use it bring on a plethora of sexist instances.
I'm guessing your on about XBox Live? Yeah, the typical member of that horde, or at least, the section of the horde who get themselves noticed most are the homophobic, xenophobic, sexist arsewipes who, frankly, are a waste of resources to keep breathing. Although there are plenty of good XBox Livers, it should be bared in mind that there are a very high preportion of waste on there too, even higher than the Counter-strike player, which is something of an achievement.
Half the girls I know are awesome at games, and one of them has one of the top scores in the world at Tetris. Tetris is beast, and so I give a collosal bow to all gamer girls because you make... the gaming world go round? I don't know. Good job.
I have no honest idea how many Girl Gamers I've played against/with in TF2 - most of the time, the user names are pretty unisex or obviously male, so the ladies are hard to detect. The few positively Girl Gamers I have seen have been just like every other player (although with the added problem of a subconscious desire, as a Heavy, to protect them slightly more than the others. Damn you slow-arsed-evolution!).

As a girl gamer, there are some women who really get up my nose, when it comes to gaming behaviour. You know the sort. The type of girl who thinks that her gender gets her a free pass to worship land, and acts like a bratty attention whore through a game.
Agreed.

I mean - and sorry if I'm abusing your post now, by adding an unwanted dimension - I would love to have attention all the time, people being nice to me, telling me how great I am, etc. (who wouldn't?) - but self-respect and self-CONTROL dictate that I shut the fuck up and let people find out eachother's [i/]personalities[/i] over time, without telling them outright 'I'm a girl, isn't that great?'
Fortunately, I don't believe I've come up against these attention whores in multiplayer, although I think I've had the misfortune to encounter them in there native environment - the MMO - where they are worse because they work over a longer period of time and can hook onto other people (not just guys).

I normally play team matches so it would be difficult for a woman to beat me specifically, and I dont really care if I lose cos it was a team effort so everyone should just try harder next time and pull it together... but if you are a team killer on my side then the shit is gonna go down! Regardless of gender, the shit is gonna hit the fan!

From my time playing TF2, I can tell you more often than not, players and especially admins will bend over backwards for you if you are girl. Say a little insult to her? Kicked. Banned.

It's kind of pathetic really.
Must impress teh ladiez!! Maybe they will go on a date with them then have secks. I would imagine girl gamers hate that almost as much as being ridiculed.

Dude, arrested development... nice. I cant wait for the movie, hopefully they will bring it back after the movie release.

I started a game of Guild Wars as a female avatar and I had some other player being really helpful and accommodating towards me. I assumed it was because I was a new player and it was a friendly community. How naive I was...
Looking back, my pixellated tits must have been imprressive.

But yeah, that's a big reason for why I don't play online much.
I actually barely know any girls online, though that's probably coincidence. If I did, I would frag her the same as I would frag any guy.
and thats the way some girls would rather have it :) at least i would

I hate to do this but you asked to be treated the same as any guy so this is what I would say to a guy, dont you think "that" picture undercuts your message? And like I said I hate to do this because I was raised properly so I am not supposed to argue with women, am I exempt from this rule because you wanted to be treated like any guy out there?

If there is a girl that is good at games, i'm fine with that. If there is a very sexy girl who is good at video games and smart, will you marry me?
No...

This makes you look quite arrogant, you know saying that you are "very sexy girl who is good at video games and smart".

At the same time, I can't be too harsh on those girls, because I know what causes that behaviour. It's much better to be in people's faces, then it is to be quietly rejected. There are some really shitty attitudes out there in the internet land towards women. Telling people your real name or using a mic shouldn't herald catcalls of TITS OR GTFO but it does. Time and time again it does.

And it's dehumanising, and creepy, and discouraging.

There is nothing inherently male about pressing buttons to make a graphical representation do something.

I think it would be nice if people as a whole didn't act like dicksmacks whilst playing games, regardless of their gender.
I'm not female myself, but I can sympathize with what you're saying. the internet is full of useless pricks with nothing better to do than discourage certain people (not just females) from playing online.

Whenever you run across them just do what I do, and give them a small discouraging kick to the balls. Usually shut's em right up. Or greifing, greifing is always more fun once they've done something to earn it.

It's been my experience that more female gamers play MMOs, or World O Warcraft to be specific. And more often than not I would find myself in all gal raiding parties. Less segregation there for some reason.

It's a shame that more women don't play games, especially when nobody wants to be zoey in L4D...her A.I. is always the liability.

This message really annoyed me, or more specifically this part "Whenever you run across them just do what I do, and give them a small discouraging kick to the balls. Usually shut's em right up." You see thats just another generalisation, what do you do if the griefer of females is a better gamer than you? And everytime you try to give them a "kick to the balls" they beat you down? I mean if I was a griefer on CoD4, I am pretty sure I would end the match at the top of the table because thats just where I am more often than not... why would griefing make me a worse player?

Oh yes, forgot about this - once, when playing Halo online with my friend morgan (which I am [i/]very[/i] bad at, by the way) I had his little headset thing on and one delightful american chap, on hearing my little voice, suggested that I 'suck this big american dick, you british *****'.

Which was really lovely.
HA HA HA HA HA

I really lol'd at that! Here, have a gopher:

Now, on topic.

People mistake me for a girl even though my username alwats has Photonman in it, but I think they're just teasing me :p

Excuse me, I made the same joke, and it was exactly that - a joke. Must you be such a Nazi...?

Don't be sorry.

If you think you're attractive, interesting and intelligent then that's fine.
Not the same joke, no. Yours was that you already had a boyfriend, right? Anyway, Nazi really? Come on, if you actually took the time to know me I am pretty sure you would like me.
