Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

Let's see. I already refuted all of your points and gave you access to the knowledge available. In the time you've been avoiding this, you could have found the answers you are asking for ten times over.

Also, for the rules of debate to apply, this would have to be an actual debate. No, this is a grownup laughing at the silly nature of a child. You silly, silly child.
Refuting involves proof:
e·fute (r-fyt)
tr.v. re·fut·ed, re·fut·ing, re·futes
1. To prove to be false or erroneous; overthrow by argument or proof: refute testimony.
You have not given any proof, thus by definition you have not refuted my statement. Instead you have presented insults and logical fallacies.

And I don't think I want to be an adult if being an adult means looking down upon other people, spouting insults and acting like an asshole.

By the way, just wondering, why exactly are you acting like an asshole?

The mojority of Tool's songs are far too long, involve screaming and are completey pretentious.

No screaming as far as I can remember, only 5 minuites long (not long in my opinion)and isn't really that pretentious.

EDIT: fuck it, Ninja'd >.<
Oop. Of course; Sober as well. No idea how that song slipped my mind. Thanks. =3 ... You are my fist ninja'd individual... o_O [/off-topic]

I don't have much to say. But for the inevitable "uhhhhh metal is all the same tuneless shit lol" morons, tell me.

Well? No, it doesn't. So please get your facts right before you go judging.

I did prove your points wrong. However, it is your job to look further into why your points were wrong.
You said I was wrong, restated your initial point and told me to bugger off, that's different from actually proving anything. Proving involves presenting evidence, you have not done such a thing.

What you have given me is an argument from authority; the music industry says so. Yet when I asked you to actually provide examples, and more importantly why 'they' say that rap is a genre, you ignored me.

And insults, you've given me lots and lots of insults; I'm mentally handicapped, I'm a silly child, I'm a foreign oaf, etc. Why? Why couldn't you just explain and support your point that rap is a genre and not just a vocal style and be done with it.

All jazz music has syncopated rhythms with changing keys.
So you think that Jazz cant stay with one rythm without changing it up? That is true for some people but definantley not all. It's steady and smooth all the way, oh yeah.
I was just about to post that song :D.

Probably my favorite song off Kind of Blue.
That song used to move me in ways a man could only imagine.

Dance pop is shit. Find me one dance pop song that doesn't suck and you sir have way too much time on your hands.

I'm guessing dance pop implies pop that you can dance to.

techno is repetitive!
Techno is a generic term, it could imply any subgenre of electronica.

Honestly guys? You're still entertaining him? Really? Just report him and return to the actual topic of the thread. Seriously. =/

But to keep -this- post on topic... Can someone disprove the stereotype that a cover of a song can never be better than the original? =o ... Not really a genre thing... Uh... Rock song... I guess... Or something. >.>;;
I think I might've found one:

Christian music is talentless and focuses more on getting their message across by adopting a generic "cool" style for brainwashing the youth than actually developing their own unique sound and having talent.
Enjoy, I know I did.

Mainstream rap has no variation and his just a bunch of black guys saying "yo" and "respect" and "fo-shizzle".
Eminem, Plan B, Kanye west and B.O.B disagree with you.
(Two of these people are white.)

Mine: I actually can't think of any, I seem to have reached musical enlightenment.

Emo music isn't good :D
Some of the emo that was made before it was coopted by the whiney brigade and turned into metal-lite.

Although, in fairness to your point, this genre of music is pretty distinct from what most people think of when they think of emo. Weezer for example are almost parodying teenage emotions, not wallowing in them.

I'm a trumpet player and I love classical music but is there a classical song that has lyrics?
(If you want me to put it in a sterotype here "All classical music has no lyrics.")

Good Luck
