What you have given me is an argument from authority; the music industry says so. Yet when I asked you to actually provide examples, and more importantly why 'they' say that rap is a genre, you ignored me.

Although, in fairness to your point, this genre of music is pretty distinct from what most people think of when they think of emo. Weezer for example are almost parodying teenage emotions, not wallowing in them.
