I've only got one gretchin so far. I've got like 16 Warhammer 40k figurines, but I've only painted one at the moment.

Then post him! We all want to see.

Also
Painting her face was a real pig, such tiny little detaials hidden away by the mask and her hair. Ugh. Still, I'm generally pleased with the end result. As always the lighting when taking the pic was absolutely awful.

Ok, what was the next one? A vintage titan wasn't it?

Vintage titan, yes :)

Your sister turned out pretty good. I can see where painting the face would be a pain in the ass.

Haven't had much time to paint since my last post, but here's an update of my old school plague marines, and a couple of shots of some upcoming mini's I'm going to be working on over the weekend. Enjoy.

Lookin good, I'm going to have to try a wash technique soon, it certainly sounds quicker.

I'm undercoating him as soon as I've posted this. Dunno about the colour scheme though. I suppose I wasnt him to be similar to my other titan but be varied enough to be interesting...

After him I'm going to bite the bullet and start on one of my Firestorms.

Sweet! I'm still working on my battlewagon...haven't had a lot of time to dabble in 40k the last week.

Once I get it modeled where I want it, I'll throw a picture up. I'm leaning towards: Deff Rolla, Kannon (the normal one) and an inter-changeable zzapp gun), 3 big shootas, and a rokkit. If I can figure out a way to model a good boarding plank, probably one of those as well.

The floor of any space marine tank, or floor/wall plates from some of the 40k building sets work well as boarding planks.

MOAR!

Sorry Moonpenguin, I got sidetracked painting the titan, although given what I got sidetracked by I don't think you could blame me:

I know the sticker looks wonky in the photo but it's not, it's just the angle of the shot.

I have done a rough basecoat though. I've done it like my other titan but I'm using Dark Angels Green, so this ones going to be a lot darker but still have the same basic colour scheme. Any comments/suggestions before I finalise the design are welcome.
[EDIT:*SNIP* Finished warlord can now be found here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.191553.6739959]

The Firestorm cruiser means all is forgiven! Looks good, man!

Digging that vintage Titan already. So you're staying with the lighter white/beige trim and opting for dark angels green instead of the lighter green? That should look sharp.

Have you thought about doing the "face" trim in something like a metallic gold or silver? Just some shiny metal bit. Hell, chrome it out ;P

A deep gold looks really good when paired with DA green....could actually do the majority of your trim in that. Could run it as your titan command.

Any plans to base it?

There's 3 more where that came from, and I just acquired 2 more as pat of a job lot :)

As for the titan, I like that idea, full on gold trim and maybe a few bits of silver on the weapons on the larger areas, too much gold can look a bit naff. I only have shining gold but I reckon it'll do. Much easier than trying to get all the trim back to pristine white after I've gone over it with splashes of green.
Base wise I'm probably just going to do the usual grass felt. I used to have a huge MDF gaming table when I was a kid covered in the same grass felt and so basing them with that and painting the rims goblin green was all they really needed.

I also have some epic knights I want to take a crack at, unfortunately I left my copy of Titan Legions at my parents place and there were some really nice paintschemes in some of the examples

EDIT: It's your lucky day, now we have a squadron of Firestorm Cruisers! The Titan is also slowly coming along, he's all blacked up ready for application of gold/silver metallics.

I don't really have anything new to post, I just wanted to ask a question:

I want to have a go at some Steel Legion Troops but I don't have a dark brown for the masks etc and I'm not quite sure what colour the trenchcoats are. Any ideas what colours to use? :

The gold is looking really nice on the Titan. Gives it a very regal feel :p

Do you have other ships in the same line as the firestorms? I don't recall reading a post that listed your full collection.

The trench-coats on the Steel Legion look to be a mixture of Bubonic Brown and Bleached Bone. The masks and gloves are likely some mix of Scorched Brown and a hint of Scab Red to give it that mahogany color.

Also: Steel Legion are one of my favorite IG units.

They used to be Bestial Brown/Camo Green blended up with Desert Yellow (which unfortunately they don't make any more). Using current colours, I'd say a 3:1 mix bestial brown and catachan or camo green base, and mix in some vomit brown and bleached bone for highlights. For the dark leather, a 3:1:1 mix of scorched brown, scab red and chaos black, with a black wash before highlighting.

------------------------------------

Haven't gotten any painting done in the last few days, but I did get some of my Khorne Berserkers assembled. Enjoy!

Cheers, you were right, gold does look good :)

1 cobra destroyers (+3 still in transit, don't want to jinx their arrival), 4 firestorm cruisers (+2 still in transit), 3 Thunderbolt cruisers (+1 still in transit), 1 annihilator, 1 dictator, 3 dominators, 4 ironclads, 1 tyrant, 1 emporer (+1 still etc), 5 gothic, 1 troopship, 1 factory ship (+1 still etc), 4 stalwart frigates (+5 still etc), 1 Castellan still in etc, plus 2 eldar wraithships and 2 shadowhunters (+1 still etc)

Thanks both for the painting advice :)

Once you get your fleet in order, get us a full navy shot :)

Soon (tm), I'll quit being a lazy bastard and get my wagon done. Then you'll receive, at the very least, a WIP picture.

Will do. I'm planning to make up some custom rules for the Space Fleet ships so I could have a mixed fleet of BFG & space fleet if I ever played. I have the ones you've already seen plus a retribution class battleship, 3 more firestorm frigates, a sword and a cobra, but I'll be adding at least 1 of every imperial ship available including the forge world and rogue trader ships, plus a couple of the chaos ones that I like, since the chaos ones are just old imperial vessels so having them in a loyalist fleet is perfectly possible.

Here's what we have so far:

Also Titan is basically finished barring the odd touch up here and there. Unfortunately when a model get's to this stage, unless it's one I really like I don't really bother giving it those last few finishing touches. I'm also being really lazy with the highlighting, I wanted it to stay really dark green so I just did a bit of highlighting on the sharper corners:

I used a cheap white spray primer for this one and it's produced a grainy finish on some surfaces. Just goes to show you shouldn't cheap out on these things.

Amusingly, that's the same sort of thing you get from the expensive GW white primer. Know a way to strip paint from old plastic minis without damaging them? I want to re-do my old school plague marines with a black UC.

Love the Imperial Fleet so far. Some really nice work you've done there.

That's damn nice man. The pose is really well done. I'd probably throw quite a bit of firepower its' way too, but I've seen what one of those things can do to a Chaos Marine army if left unchecked. Thank the Gods for Obliterators!
