I get the idea but that also means you won't have enough time to choose and kill a target as a sniper or remain in cover and not get shot to death if you are pinned down. There is more reasons than camping to stand still.

Holy hell. That's awesome. As long as it's just one mode out of many, so snipers can use their strategy in the other games.

I like this a lot, though.

1) It's optional.

2) I imagine they'll allow you to adjust how much time it takes. I'm sure 3 seconds is the default, or just an example.

3) Camping may be "realistic," but it's not fun. Games should be fun. Multiplayer games in which sides can just camp and stare at each other aren't fun... but everyone wants the OTHER side to the the one that isn't camping. It's like rushing in RTS games--yeah, it works, but man it makes the game zero-fun.

4) No, you're not a sniper. You're a camper with a scope. Unless you're having to painstakingly line up a single shot at half a mile away, after which you need to get up and MOVE because you just potentially gave away your position, that is.

3 seconds? Really? I could understand a minute or something, but it takes some people 3 seconds to line up their damn shot.

I'm glad to see that it's not mandatory. People who can't take out campers are people who refuse to learn new strategy.

Three seconds? What If I don't want to move at that particular moment in time? C'mon at least add a proper modifer to it, not three seconds!

This i like a LOT.

Curse me having a Ps3 and not enough money to buy the Wii.
Never thought I?d see this statement, Especially given the prices of the consoles when they launched.

I dig the camping explosion and with a 3 sec timer, that will hustle more than campers. There are a lot of other games that could use this function a lot more.

Sure, fix camping with unnecessary restrictions, not good level design or the CoD solution (showing you where your killer is).

Actually, this isn't totally awful because it really depends on what kind of gameplay you're going for. If they're trying to make it the Unreal Tournament psychotic frag-fest, then this is the right choice. I just always pictured Goldeneye as just a little bit more restrained. I mean, you're James Bond, you're supposed to be suave and chill, not hyperactive crazy all-over-the-place man. Nevertheless, if it can recreate the classic memories and gives me a rocket launcher and some sticky bombs, I'll be happy!

But really, when is Bond ever restrained or a suave in combat?
He usually shoots everyone in sight, punches those close to him and causes some explosions.
James Bond usually does not camp, and the only time I remember him sniping was at the end of Casino Royale.
So there you go.

BTW: Golden Eye was popular in a time before sniping was hip, so no-one camped but a lot of people had a lot of fun.
Since many of you seem to think that no camping/no sniping = no fun, this must mean that everyone back then was:
a. a retard who was enthralled by the flashing lights.
b. an alien that now returned to it's homeworld,
becasue many of you are whining about something that will make this game faster and more action-oriented, if one wishes to do so.

Nice concept, but 3 seconds? Seems like it would hinder other players more than it would stop campers. Assuming that you can see its on when you try to pick a game, players would either know not to try camping in that match, or just look for a new one where they can camp.

But say I'm in a fight with someone and I want to take cover for a few seconds until they need to reload... Oops, I just exploded. Nice.

If camping is good enough for Clint Eastwood, it's good enough for me.

Can't say I approve of the grenade dynamite spamming...

Hmmm. I understand why, because 'camping' is for shit players, but I don't think this will solve it. Camping doesn't mean sitting still for 3 seconds, it means sitting still for a few minutes. Perhaps if they'd made it 10 seconds, that would actually be fair. Sometimes if you're trying to hide from someone shooting at you, you need to sit still for a few seconds.

People who hate campers are the people that get killed by them. Look this is the most recent example that I have of a person raging at me for "camping".

I play MW2 quite a bit. I don't like it but I'm really good at it. Because it's fanbase is full of idiots that do the same thing over and over again. Case in point, I was playing on the map Quarry and I was doing my thing running around and flanking everyone. But because they were all running around with grenade launchers and stopping power I was overpowered each time I came into a direct firefight. So what did I do? I went down into a building with three entrances. I planted claymores at two and left the building to go hunker down and defend my position. Not ten seconds later one of my claymores goes off. I run and replace it and as I turn around *Boom!* it blows up again. I replace it again (I had One-Man army as my perk). Run off down the hall to make sure I'm not getting flanked. *Boom!* (AGAIN!). I ran back to where it was and killed two guys that were trying to run in and then replaced it. (Repeat this for a little longer and that is how I got my Chopper Gunner). At the end of the game the guy who I had apparently camped and kept killing started calling me an "a-hole", "f-ing qu--r", etc. I simply replied: "It was you who choose to keep running in the same door after you had died there 3 times. Maybe throw a flash bang next time."

Of course this made him even more mad, but I stand by my argument. Even if I get killed by the same sniper 4-6 times I admit it's my fault for going back to where I died. Sure I get pissed, but it's my fault.

In the end I have to say I like the rule, but it should be made longer. Maybe 10 sec.

More games should include this but with a more reasonable time limit. The whole "they could just move left and right" is countered by the fact that they'd show up on the radar if the game used it.
