I too have to say goodbye to my 360... but I worked it to death within one week of over 11 hours of gaming nearly straight. once christmas break came around. But i had just gotten the 360 like 2 months ago.
so while I can't say it's not my fault, I'm still a little angry about it.
...wait, the 360 can't handle 11hrs gaming in one go?

Effing hell. I ran my PS2 for 4 days non-stop with Final Fantasy and it was absolutely fine. Are the consoles of this generation that poorly cooled? If so I may re-think dropping several hundred quid on one!

That any my PS2 has taken a trip down a flight of stairs and ironically functioned better after it's "adventure" than it did before (but it busted the controller pretty badly).

jacobschndr It's a shame the console died after working so well for so long. Was it not fixable at all (I've heard the power supply goes after a while, and it's an easy swap)?
Mine can handle an 11 hour session and still want more. It considers 11 hours a warm up.

Mine lasted me 72 hours while i got 7 day survivor achievment for dead rising. Power outage to the entire neighborhood took me out at 6 days 22 hours 56 minutes.

I can honestly say I've had my xbox since the beginning. I got it a week after it debuted into the world and while all my friends xbox's got the infamous red ring of death mine was still kicking ass. I was really proud of the little old guy, never froze, never lagged (a lot anyway) just kept going, sometimes four to five hours even.

But alas, not more than an hour ago, I went to play it again and this time it never came on. Like a person who dies peacefully in their sleep, my 360 would never wake again *sigh and sob*

So good-bye friend, while we will never play games like bioshock 2 or the latest madden together, or going on killing sprees online to all the noobs in MewTwo, I will still have all the fond memories from the yester years. Farewell.

...

On a lighter note, those new 360 elites are pretty cool, with bigger harddrives and colored black, plus there cheaper than their former consoles. So in a way I'm saying good-bye to an old friend but then turning around to date his younger sister. YAY!
not to sound cruel, but dry ur eyes and go buy a new one.

I just went through my fourth 360 and that's when it hit me wow, Im an idiot for giving more money time an time again to Microsoft. Don`t get me wrong I love my 360 and the times we have spent killing shit . Im just a little miffed that Microsoft wont invest the money into these systems so that they`ll run better. So Ive said my dues and will now be sticking with my ps3 which Ive had since launch . I just wish i knew more people that has a Ps3 for the online games.
-sigh-

I know your pain, mine died last week. I should probably get around to sending it off for repair at some point - I've got the shipping label, just got to find a box to put it in.

Intercoolers are not a bad idea .The only problem with that specific intercooler is the fact that u plug it into the 360 itself. If your trying to cool something down wouldn`t it make more sense to not have an extra device pulling power from your console , causing it to heat up more. Theres another one thats better , it plugs into the wall so as not to strain your 360 further . Iv`e been using a basic clip on fan from walmart its worked the best and it was definitely cheaper.

Be sure to get a Nyko intercooler for your next 360. That's the biggest problem with the console...insufficient cooling. But with this thing my 360 has stayed cool to the touch no matter where you feel it:

Wow, your Xbox did a good job to last so long. R.I.P.

keep in mind that it was running for a whole week of 11 hours each day... this was the orignal 360 that I had bought off of e-bay broken, then fixed it though. While it only cost me about $60 I thought it was a great buy. They just didn't bother to fix the overheating problems when they first shipped it

(Sorry for your lose)

Rest now, brave knight, your years of loyal servise have not been in vain, you have given many a men and woman joy, by playing the games you do, or connecting them to others.

Be at peace, brave warrior

Yeah but Microsoft isn't loosing $18 on every console. It means Sony is awsome for still selling then, and while the PS3 is a beast, it's not a practical money-making machine.

Not trying to start a console war here, but those are the facts. Then again, Sony won't need to develop a new console for a decade or so :D
I wouldn't state something as a fact when it is, in fact, not one.

As of Sony's last report, they are currently losing only six CENTS on each PS3 sold, and it will begin to turn a good profit by the end of this year to the beginning of the next.
I know I shouldn't beleive everything I read but this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98110-PS3-Loss-Down-to-Just-Eighteen-Bucks] sounds close enough to the truth to me.

My first Xbox worked like a charm for a year and a half, then I discovered my uncle lied. It doesn't double as a baloney fryer :[
