I don't see many people playing The Longest Journey series anymore. Maybe I'm just old, but I miss games that tell an actual story, and that series is the perfect example of what can be achieved in a game when story and modern gaming technology are combined.

People seem to have forgotten about Freespace and its sequel, Freespace 2. Sigh...the best space sims ever created and nobody plays them. Happily, though, I found a community that got its hands on the source code and they've been upgrading the game to modern standards ever since. Me love Freespace Source Code Project long time.

Master of Orion II also seems to have fallen by the wayside, despite being really, massively, incredibly, popular and well-crafted. I miss my Doom Stars.

Star Trek: Elite Force and Elite Force 2 are both fun, if somewhat buggy first-person shooters based on the Quake 3 engine. It's surprising to see just how many people don't know or don't care about them, but given the state of Trek gaming after the latest putrescent turd from Bethesda (Star Trek: Legacy) I guess that's understandable.

And my all-time favorite classic...

Mechwarrior 2! I got this game when I was all of five years old. It has a place in my heart, because it's the first simulator I've ever played, and I still go back at it whenever I can. Given how old the game is, it's understandable how it dropped off the face of the Earth, but I am still weeping for the state of the Mechwarrior/Battletech franchise elsewhere.

Going back old school: NES - StarTropics, SNES - SoulBlazer, and currently on Wii VC, Toki Tori and I'm not really sure if anyone played Lost Winds, correct me if I'm wrong.

From sales this year, apparently Mirror's Edge and Dead Space didn't live up to sales expectations. But I know a bunch of people who played Dead Space, though almost no one I know played Mirror's Edge, which, admittedly isn't for everyone.

Dreamcast - Jet Set Radio or Jet Grind Radio, depending where you lived

GC - Eternal Darkness, Viewtiful Joe

Wii - Order Up! (yes, its short and its a stupid mindless mini game waggle fest, but since you're playing like 5 mini games at once, its actually quite fun for what it is, and there is actually some depth to the game, albeit very little, but it is what it is and its the only mini game waggle fest since Warioware thats been fun. Its worth a rental at least, if you're in the mood)

Oh yeah! Longest Journey!
I think ST:Elite Force is honestly, just OK. I loved it, but I also think its a guilty pleasure, being the trek fan that I am.

If you like Trek, then try ST: Bridge Commander. There's only a few ships, but there's a ton of mods out there that "balance" the ships (normally they just make the ships they designed faster and more powerful) and a ton of mods that adds practically all of starfleet from every time period. But even without the mods, the game captures the feeling of slow, methodical and tactical starship combat.

I too am weeping for RIP FASA. They sell the license still, but considering there's no core boardgame to have a fanbase for video games, I doubt devs will put much money into another good battletech game.
Still, Mechwarrior 2 was great! Even better was Mechwarrior 4 and it's expansion, and even better than that was Mechwarrior: Mercenaries. If you're a battletech fan, you'll be happy to know there's a crap ton of modders out there still who have added a whole bunch of mechs. I'm still not sure how many people would appreciate the Mechwarrior series unless they had invested in the novels and board games to know the setting and back story of the universe. So I consider them guilty pleasures.

I still fire up Mercenaries like every 3 months or so. And Bridge Commander too!

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
It's awesome, go pick it up now if you have the classic Xbox.
No man, I played that game and it was so poor, should not have been an Oddworld game.
I would say Tombi 1 and 2 for the PS1 were way too little known considering the quality.
Tombi 1 and 2 were awesome games. I got a demo from my Playstation magazine when I was about seven and loved every second of it. Unfortunately I couldn't find the full game in any shop after that. I also liked the Oddworld games up to Munch's Odysee. But tbh my most favourite games ever that I doubt many people have played are the Legacy of Kain series. Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 in particular.

Battlestation: Midway.
You're lucky if you can find a server online, so sad, I hope Battlestation: Pacific will do better online and attract more people to it.

What does Masquerade play like anyways? I've always been tempted to try it but am worried it wont be my kind of game for some reason :S

I can't think of too many games that I thought were good that no one played... if I said one people would probably correct me saying that it was better known than I had thought :S

Legend of Legaia on PS1
Pretty original turn-based combat system and a good storyline
