the imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
you knew that the bad guy was going to win about halfway through the movie
Have to disagree... the way i see it Doc's goal was to save his daughter from the devil which he accomplished. And Tony was the real bad guy and hanging by your neck is pretty much loosing ;P.
very good points. i just saw it as the devil winning, even at the end when he tells the doc that his daughter was an adult, and therefore didnt have to go with the devil, which i had assumed he had known from the beggining

Jeepers Creepers. "Where'd he get those peepers" indeed...
Okay, this one wins.

Seeing the monster look through a skinned Justin Long did it for me.

Define "bad guy" I could say Night of the Living Dead, in a way.
Even though he survives, when the rescue party sees him, he's mistaken as a zombie and shot.
Naah, that's just cause he's a black dude in the American South...

I'm surprised no-one mentioned American Beauty.
Although it's not so much that a "bad guy wins" (does being a repressed homosexual make Col. Fitts the bad guy?) as "Lester Burnham gets murdered".

Not the movie really, but the book The Count of Monte Cristo. The count isn't really a villian, but more of an anti-hero. He's not good by any stretch, but he's who you sympathize with, and root for throughout the book.

A poster on another thread said they would like to see more movies where the bad guys win. I fired back that that describes the Star Wars prequels, cinematic abominations famous for ruining a gargantuan franchise. The more I think about it, the more I have to agree that it would be really great to see bad guys, villains, anti heroes win in the end.

What movies have you loved that had the bad guys come out on top?
Just about any recent horror movie that I can think of. In pretty much every one I've seen, the heroes all end up dead.

No Country for Old Men; There Will be Blood; Cool Hand Luke (kinda) and there are a couple more. But even in movies when the bad guys "win," the movie does tell us that our hero gains the moral victory---which to them is all that matters.

It's pretty much a lose-lose situation for our villains. Although I was rooting for Gerrard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen.
darn you beat me to it with the no country for old men and id forgotten about there will be blood

Hang on, you want me to intentionally spoil a good movie for you? Sorry, I can't do it OP.

It might not be considered a "Great" movie but i enjoyed Repomen's ending, and i think the "bad guy" wins. Although broski you need to change the title to antagonist wins, because the "bad guy" is sometimes the "good guy" aka protagonist

Arlington Road, a movie in 1999 about a terrorist threat that actually comes true.

Funny Games is that kind of way. It's a really good, really fucked up movie.

In the movie, the bad guys actually talk to you, the spectator. They bet that they'll complete their objective at the end of the film, while you bet that the good guys will win.

A scanner darkly ... well technically, it's kind of vague but really in the end the protaginist isn't on top.
