Halo Reach Beta - General Discussion Thread

Downloaded it, played 3 games. (All on Swordbase, sadly.)

Loved it, but then the servers went down on me. (Unlike my friends, who are still playing.)

Stockpile on swordbase is the most epic of wins, especially since I was the best player.

I'll be happy to add some people from the Escapist to my live and play tomorrow, I need some more people on my friends list anyway.

Servers are back up!
Only played one slayer game on powerhouse, and it was amazing.
Can't wait till they release the new gamemodes to the beta testers

I think it will beat MW2 on the 360, mainly because Halo has been the xbox's biggest seller. Halo 3 was the 360's highest selling game for a while. Hopefully with a little more advertisement (and hopefully more GameFuels!) the game will be top dog.

I have high hopes.

I've been downloading for an hour and it's only 34% complete.

Fuck my internet connection.

I wouldn't worry mate their servers are down.

mine kept on sticking me in a never ending loops of un-leavable games where I have to reset the beta to leave other than that the beta id really good also im actually enjoying playing online especially the jet pack

it's a desent game i think and the classes are fun but the jetpack is abit OTT cos people find glich spots easy in i think it's sword base or something like that (it's the one with tons of pathways) but to bad the server is down right now

Yeah, go right ahead, Gamertag's FactualSquirrel (caps don't matter), I have a lot of people like that on my friends list, I occasionally talk to some of them.

But yeah, I go on loads, just invite me to a party or join me or whatever whenever you want.

Well I only managed to get one game of capture the flag in - and maybe it was because I hate that game-mode but I didn't really like it. The controls, once I got used to them, were pretty good, and the new armour skill-things were surprisingly well-balanced. I suppose I'll have to see how I feel about it once I get a couple of games of slayer in.

I'm not sure - I think it took around an hour; I just left my 360 on and plugged in my controller whilst surfing the net. If I'm online send me an invite sometime =)

Apparently now the Beta has somehow managed to wipe people's experience points, and around 60% of people can't even download it.

Pretty epic fail on Bungie's part... I know the whole point of a Beta is to fix the bugs and shit but still.

I will! If I ever get it. I just tried again. Left it going for half an hour, and stuck on 1%.

Well I would love to play. But I pissed of God some how and I got E74 three days before Beta, and half way through Splinter Cell: Conviction. This gives me the right to kill some one right?

The same happened to me I've played 5 games in the space of just over 3 hours. The games are good, the matchmaking could do with a lot of work in my eyes though.

The only problem I have with it so far is that everytime I get on it says the servers aren't up, but 15 minutes later they are. And it's really annoying switching to the new controls. Seriously, B has been the melee button for the past 10 years, why change it now?

Took me and a friend about 20 minutes to get into a game then 2 games later the same problem occured but other than that it really is a lot of fun.
Favorite power so far is the invisibility and my gamertag is the same as my username so feel free to add me.

ZOMG!!! It's awesome! Even if it did take a good couple of minutes to work out how to revert the controls to Halo 3 settings. I like the DMR, the focus rifle, the plasma grenade launcher thing I forget the name of... Armour lock, sprinting with an energy sword... Wasn't as much a fan of the jetpack as I thought I would be. I guess I need to get used to it.
Oh, and assassinations. Are awesome. Every time. Without fail. Even when I died as soon as I climbed off a guy's recently deceased corpse.

EDIT: Feel free to add me, gamertag's the same as my username.

Also, only one tiny problem thus far - it takes far too long for service tag/armour colour changes to take effect. Like, 3 games or so. Is that just a server load issue?
