I giggled when he said "Spartans don't die, they go M.I.A"
I may be analysing that too far, but that sounds so much like a "master chief isn't dead" type thing.
Nope. I really and truly believe the CHEEF is dead. The whole story behind Reach takes place before the first Halo, if I'm not mistaken. And if I am, fuck it.
You do realize that there's an alternative ending to Halo 3? Watch it on YouTube, I won't spoil it for everyone else who hasn't played Halo 3 on the hardest difficulty.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a mythic type muthafucka too, but the CHEEF is dead.
Just watch the damn alternative ending.
He dead. LOL. I've seen it, but fuck it. We needs new blood. Bring in generic SPARTAN no. 326. He'll do just fine.

You know what excitedme the msot out of that trailer? The bright blue armor the woman was wearing. "Bright Blue? In a modern FPS? Colors? WHAT!?!?!??!?!?!"
I enjoy cooler, and non-uniform colored SPARTAN's are cool.

Also, repeating what others have said, the whole M.I.A quote is from the cannon. The second SPARTAN project (which is where Master Chief and the SPARTAN's shown in the video are from) was very much a clandestine operation. The public had no idea of the super soldiers fighting, as well as most ground level infantry. However, to keep up moral in the higher ranks, the SPARTAN-II's were never listed as Killed In Action. This became more important after the Fall of Reach, where Master Chief (and SPARTAN-II's in general)became both public figure's and Heroes of the people.

That was kind of... odd. We have lady Spartans, and a MW2 Ghost rip off Spartan? Eh, whatever, so long as it's better than Halo 3, it'd be enjoyable.

So this is Gears of Halo?
That is exactly right. They seemed to have borrowed from the design team of Gears of War and Army of Two. The Spartans are supposed to have light armor with different colors like blue, red, green, yellow, and orange.

Again with all this murky color palette, way to stand out guys. It's like the last page in the "Where's Waldo?" books.

I fear I'm the only one that hears HALO and thinks High Altitude Low Opening and nothing about the games. I played the rts one if that's any consolation. :/

Thanks for the link, I didn't watch the VGA (not that I would, total drivel in my eyes.)

Bungie.net has a full-screen high-res (and downloadable!) version of that same clip complete with the ending that poster missed out on. I like the Halo FPS series (Santa's bringing ODST; not good at RTS games so Halo Wars is out for me) so I'm sure I'm going to pick up Reach when it comes out.

I'm loving the way people are already hinting at genericness of the game before it's out, Bungie have already said this is going to show the true HALO, with the true force of the Spartans, the trailer to me looked far different to any Halo game I've seen and the Spartans acctually sounded like they had a personality.

That was pretty cool, why the hell did they get those custom armors!? Master Chief's looks so bland when compared to theirs. Or maybe that's just because we have all seen Master Chief's armor for so long. Anyway I sure hope the story is really captivating this time, it could redeem the Halo series so that haters like these fuckers can't trash on it:

Seems good but didn't explain anything except your "the new guy", thats what i got from the end.
just a thought but perhaps that "guy" is Master Chief... we didn't get to see his face at the start, and no one knows who he is!
... i just ruined the game for myself =(

I think the biggest thing I noticed is that unlike ODST, the faces don't look that bad.

I had criticized the graphics engine because everything looked great... except faces for ODST, and it looks like they really focused on improving that for this game. They aren't VALVe good, but they're much much better than ODST.

I believe this movie is going to be a disappointment.

However big a disappointment is yet to be seen, that is a fact.

I don't believe they will be able to make a decent movie out of this because Master Chief has as much character as a brick -.-

meh, could be alright.
wait & see.
edit: wow, what a waste for post 555, so... relatively insignificant.
you know what, halo is alright, they never betrayed me, i don't get to hyped over games, i enjoyed both H3 AND ODST. they were FUN and didn't TRY to be realistic, and relatively consistent.

It looks amazing. I really love how the Spartans looked.

Anyway. This is Bungi's last Halo game, So I'm expecting so much!
You really, honestly belived them?

Oh, Dear Little Pimppy...so naive...

OT: Pretty sweet. I never liked the Halo series because it always felt bland (probably because it revolutionised the franchise, and as such every game after it was basically an improved, altered version of Halo's comparitavly bland and basic structure)

However, this looks pretty awesome. If it can deliver this kind of "wow, I'm in an actual war, not a sucsession of battlefields" feeling, I might willingly play it round an XBOX owner's house
