Have you ever felt really offended by a game?

Does it count if I'm offended at the lack of a good villain? Or at the "good guys" being utterly retarded with me actually liking the villain better?

The latter is actually me not being offended, just a pet peeve of mine. :/

I was offended by the fact that Big Mutha Truckers had a genuinely passable set of radio background music tracks, but the rest of the game sucked balls.

I would say I was offended by Hitman 2 's portrayal of Indians that they all wear a turban but then I saw their badass rolls so I guess two wrongs does make a right.

Being offended is a choice. Plain and simple. If you want to be offended by something in a game or otherwise, go for it. I made the choice to never be offended and it has worked wonderfully.
Thanks for the feedback, Siddhartha.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to be offended by a game, games are expensive and it hurts when you feel like you've wasted your money.

I wouldn't call it offence though, as I don't have any problems with others playing those games; which is ultimately what is so wrong with offence, that you're saying others shouldn't get to play it either just because you can't/won't handle it.
Nobody's saying this, what are you talking about?

I'm not sure if I can remember a time when I was offended by a game. The closest I can think of at the moment is being offended by some of the stupid things Nintendo does with their hardware, like making the DSi region locked.

on the note of what seems to just be opinions and complaints.. Im offended that the only person who seems to get what offensive means so far is Savagezion.

The fact that a game didn't really compete with your standards does not really count as something offensive

This is going by the definition:
Offensive: repugnant to the moral sense, good taste, or the like; insulting: an offensive remark; an offensive joke.

Emotionally .. only the weak and fragile can be hurt. Physically on the other hand .. well I guess the same concept applies.
Unless your born without the capability of emotions everyone can be hurt whether they are "weak" or not

Offence is to be angered or outraged [http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/offence?show=0&t=1300624407] by the content, a feeling that generally goes beyond only evaluating strictly your own opinion and your own course of action.

While I suppose outrage isn't inherently linked to going beyond subjectivity, there sure seem to be a correlation for all practical purposes.

I get offended when people say hats ruined TF2. THEY DIDN'T. But everyone just keeps pointing this shit out. I don't see how hats can ruin the gameplay. It's just a silly argument that haters keep hating on because Valve is so awesome that they can't find anything else to hate on about it.
I have nothing wrong with hats. But with every hat released, my computer gets slightly slower.

I am NOT trading my frame-rate for colourful head-wear. Nonononono.

Not really.

Although some games that shall not be named display strong hints of militaristic masturbation fantasy. I can't shake the feeling that the developers expect their audience to be the kind of person who sprouts a raging hard-on at the merest glimpse of their national flag.

I'm not sure if "offended" is the right word, but it does get under my skin somewhat.

I think I know what you're talking about, and if so, I agree 100%.

I was offended by Dante's inferno having me pay that much money for such a piece of crap.
Don't mind the content though. The game just sucked.

No.

It'd be kind of silly to be offended by a game. Annoyed? Maybe. Disgusted? It happens a lot.

Offended? Yeah right. If a game could offend me I'd have to stay a mile away from the internet.
What if a game started personally insulting your religion (If you have one) or your home country, It doesent have to be the game itself that offends you, that WOULD be silly, but its totally possible to be offended by a set peice in the game, for example, i found that the Red Dead Redemption, Irish's slander of the welsh got fairly offensive by the end, its was funny at first (If you cant laugh at yourself and all that) but by the time we were riding away with him still insulting the welsh i had stoped laughing and just felt offended, Didnt stop me playing the game or anything, again, that would be silly :p

I don't know if this is what you're asking, but Black Ops' story mode was fairly offensive.

Not so much the material (I can dig the idea that it's making it obvious how nasty and gnarly the things soldiers have to do are) such as hacking native Vietnamese throats, after all, I've played many games with terrible violence, seen films and read books with much worse.

It was the fact that during this it kept blaring out 'fuck yeah!' chugging guitar tracks in the BGM.

Be controversial, yes! Put the player in awkward situations from the past that with modern sensibilities are hard to do/face. Don't shoot the irony in the foot, though, by yelling 'OORAH' in my ear every time it happens.

If your game is anti-Vietnam war, then have eerie silence/reflection.

If you're pro Vietnam war, don't bother with sneaky killing, just blow up the populace defending their homes en masse, with exploding shotguns and.. Oh wait.

Then again, maybe I'm just projecting because the campaign was bloody awful.

In fact, let's go with that.

Can't say that I have.

Unless we're counting some pretty deranged flash games..

..just kidding. Or am I?

I was offended that Dominion: Storm over Gift 3 sucked so hard, when G-Nome was one of the most original and innovative mech sims I'd ever played. G-Nome wasn't an excellent game by any stretch of the imagination, and was pretty inferior to the much older Mechwarrior 2, but it still deserved better than that.

And to all those saying "No", I think you should read the original post more carefully. OP didn't mean offended in the same way that, say, the WBC gets offended by funerals for American soldiers, but rather the "I can't believe I they expected me $60 for this piece of shit" kind of offended. Otherwise, you're right. If the content offends you, just don't play it.

I have been genuinely offended by a game... Killzone. For exactly why I was offended consult the first minute or so of ZP's review of Killzone 3.

Yes, I know it's a videogame, but British Nazis as enemies, what the fuck guys! After we'd been fighting against the real Nazis for 3 years before America even decided that WW2 existed, did nobody on the development team realise just what a colossal dick move that was?
