I was deeply offended the Megaman X series didn't end with X5. Ending with Zero's heroic sacrifice and then starting the Megaman Zero series would have been significant. But then they just let the strangled wheeze of the franchise ride out a little longer by bringing back Zero AND Sigma (and negating Zero's sacrifice), introducing Axl (a character whom I literally cannot care about less than I already do) and then going 3D.

And then they brought Axl to Megaman ZX. That also offended me. (And if you think that Model A isn't a reference to Axl even though it has all of Axl's powers, his signature pistol AND his colour scheme then I really feel sorry for you. Just because an in game character said he named it after himself DOESN'T MEAN it's not still a reference to Axl.)

People thinking that you kill a fetal Giygas at the end of Earthbound also offend me. SYMBOLISM. TRY TO UNDERSTAND IT.

How can that ruin a game that isn't even out yet, you haven't even played it!

I assume you're referring to Stephen Merchant who will voice the AI personality core Wheatley? He's from Bristol which gives him a West Country accent (or a twang at the very least) which is definately a distinctive accent but hardly a stereotypical British accent. As Yahtzee pointed out in his Killzone 3 review, all game companies ever seem to think us Brits talk like is either Posh or Cockney, so to hear Merchant's distinctive voice will frankly be a breath of fresh air. I really love his voice actually... in a totally non-gay way...

Example:

However I do have to agree, hearing true stereotypical British accents is getting somewhat tiresome and I do get somewhat irked when the only choice they ever make is Cockney, like London is the very epicentre of Britain and nowhere else exists. We're a very diverse place you know!

Well I am probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing up Call of Duty, but here goes. I was offended by the release of Black Ops as a whole. My reasons are numerous.

First, was the public relations guy Josh Olin saying this on his twitter page, "Attention employers of America. Please pardon the absence of your employees.", or something to that effect. He is obviously being a cocky twat here, assuming that the game he made was THE greatest thing since sliced bread. This kind of soured the experience for me before I even picked up the game.

The second thing that offended me about Black Ops, was the fact that my system's version (PS3) basically got a huge "Fuck you" sticker put on every copy of the game. The neglect for the PS3 version of this game is ludicrous. The servers for this game on PS3, are on par with PS2 game servers, with hosts lagging out alarmingly regularly. This defect was so bad, that Treyarch for a period had serious thoughts of taking down the PS3 servers, and making it only a single player game for that system. I do not play the game so that wouldn't matter all that much to me, but I know that it is one of the most popular online games on the system currently, if not the THE most. Treyarch would basically be robbing people of the 60$ they spent on the game, because in all honesty I would assume only 2-3% of people bought the game exclusively for the single player. This is not meant to undermine people who value single player at all, but people in the Call of Duty community have been largely focused on the multiplayer since Call of Duty 4.

The third thing that offends me about this game is simply the extremely poor programming. In a video posted on youtube recently someone manages to get 512 kills and around 8 deaths. This video received many comments saying it was setup which is actually very likely, but when you see the video you can see that even if it is setup, the poor programming is still being shown. The person recording it literally sitting in the corner and watching people spawn inches in front of him, and he just knifes them every time.

End rant.

People are gonna groan at me for this and shout feminist in a way akin to the salem witch trials but I think the only game I've ever felt offended about was Witcher and it's 'collect the sexy lady you have shagged cards' As a woman that made me feel really uncomfortable. I loved the rest of the game but couldn't stomach it after that. :(

I wouldn't have minded if it was just him sleeping with the women but it just took on a creepy aspect with the cards and made me feel squicky. It felt like who ever developed Witcher was this evil chauvenist who saw women as pokemans. :<

Oh and the Final Fantasy series becoming the playable film that it is also offends me they seem to think that the goodness that is final fantasy 7 can only live on through Dragon Quest on the DS.

Don't think anyone actually played that game, certainly not anyone who didn't go out of their way to acquire it, with full knowledge on what it was about.

Guess some were offended by the news that this piece of disgusting but harmless fiction, which they'll never see and which have no influence on their life whatsoever, existed far far away from them though. How peculiar.

By Dragon Age 2. Isabella is a huge spit in the face. She is a continuation of Miranda's "I was genetically engineered to give you a boner" and nothing else, because "That's what kids want, right!?" Who the shit do they think I am? Wish I could kill her in the ending sequence.
Why should kids play a 18+ game?

I don't think I've really been offended by a game, I mean games piss me off yeah, but I've never gotten offended by them. I just don't get that offended easily, you would have to go on a personal level to offend me and games obviously can't do that.

This is going to sound like an annoying troll 'I'm so much smarter than the question' answer at first, but bear with me; it really isn't.

I'm a little confused as to what being offended by a game means. A game's just lines of code that makes pretty pictures appear on the screen (unless it's a Wii game, har har); it has no intelligence, no desire to insult anyone. So if you are offended by a game, what exactly are you offended at?

Sure if it's a bad game you can dislike the publishers or creators, but are they really trying to offend you? Did they really make a good series bad just to personally dissapoint you? No, they just got lazy and stuck an established brand on an average work to get a sale. If the characters use a certain word or phrase you don't agree with you might be offended, but again, are they saying this specifically to insult you? Take San Andreas for a great example, would it have been the same if the characters hadn't been spouting a certain word every other breath? It wasn't put in to offend anyone, it was put in because that's what the story and characters needed.

So no, I've never been offended by a game because no game has specifically insulted me yet. Dissapointed, Disgusted, Horrified, Scared, Shocked, Sickened and even sometimes Exited, but never offended. Not yet.

They're working on that technology.

Why?

The developer made some bonus content that's separate from the main game. That's what DLC is; it doesn't matter when it comes out.

I don't know about that. She wasn't any worse than anyone else.

Because DLC has become such a fucking corrupt method of delivering content. Why can't they just release that content with the fucking game?
It used to be that you'd get a complete game, you'd play the game, complete it a few times, and then a few months later you'd find some quality content for a reasonable price.
Now you get a half-arsed game, you complete the game in a few hous, realise how many plot holes there are, and then you realise there was "DLC" released at the same time as the game, and said DLC contains the answer to all those plot holes and inconsistencies.

I'm afraid I have to agree if the game will cost that much more to put say sebastian in then I will gladly pay the full amount when I buy it. But hacking games up to sell them is akin to someone selling you a motorbike and leaving some parts out. I'm not sure what the point of on release DLC's are? if they aren't finished and want to add it to the game later then fine but dont hack it up and sell bits seperate.

I think Bethesda have it right with DLC's how good was Dead Money! *vault girl thumbs up*

No.

It'd be kind of silly to be offended by a game. Annoyed? Maybe. Disgusted? It happens a lot.

Offended? Yeah right. If a game could offend me I'd have to stay a mile away from the internet.
What if a game started personally insulting your religion (If you have one) or your home country, It doesent have to be the game itself that offends you, that WOULD be silly, but its totally possible to be offended by a set peice in the game, for example, i found that the Red Dead Redemption, Irish's slander of the welsh got fairly offensive by the end, its was funny at first (If you cant laugh at yourself and all that) but by the time we were riding away with him still insulting the welsh i had stoped laughing and just felt offended, Didnt stop me playing the game or anything, again, that would be silly :p
It happens, though I have no strong loyalty for the U.S., I just think our corporate overlords are the smallest evil. Typically speaking, as commonly as you see any religion attacked for any or no reason, it's difficult to really justify getting actually offended by it anymore. I can generally shrug or laugh it off no problem.

If you're talking something more intentionally, specifically calling my religion out just for the sake of "making a statement"? I can ignore a bit, but yeah, I guess I'd stop playing it. You can call that getting offended, but I really doubt it would be an interesting story to *anyone* beyond fanatical atheists that eat that stuff up.

As for people saying how can a game offend you it's just pixels, my reaction to Witcher was a gut reaction, I felt sickened. It was physical and didn't go through any thought process of its just a game but I will feel offended. I then couldn't play that game from then on becuase it made me feel a bit sick :< I don't think being offended is a concious desicion it just happens.
