I will often go onto random servers in Minecraft and create awesome traps to kill noobs with. My favorite is a small hut with a ladder that seemingly goes down to a mine. I have a sign that says: To the Mine. The ladder doesn't have good lighting and eventually just drops off. The person falls, and I go and collect their stuff. It's not very fancy but it is probably my most successful trap.

I grief because I find it fun.

3v3 on SC2?

Oh hey I will make 6 planetary fortresses in my own base. For protection you see.

My team, and even 2 of the enemies liked it. It was funny to all of them. Except for the one guy who kept insulting my play on the enemy team. It got to the point where his team even started killing him because he was a dick. It was great.

I was playing World of Tanks.

I had a nice view round a corner and was sniping enemy tanks (knowing they had a very big gun and slow reload) and backing up out of sight until the enemy fired again and it was safe to snipe.

A smaller tank on my side drove up, ignored me and stole my sniping spot by parking right in front of me.

I drove right up behind him so he could not reverse when the enemy had reloaded and then used his corpse as cover for the rest of the battle...

When I was 12 I trained people in Everquest. I was a dumb kid, and I wouldn't do it again.

Does dominating in PvP count as griefing? Before I quit I could smash some faces in TOR warzones.

Who would apologize for anything they did in a videogame?

E: Oh, and one time some guy with Xes in his name invited me to his stupid powergaming guild. The guildchat annoyed me and he promoted me to officer so I booted everyone that was below me or in the same rank as I, which left the guild with like 50 less people, and I changed the stupid guild board into an essay about cow rape. It wasn't super stylish and I could have done better, yes, but I was entertaining a friend mostly who thought it was hysterical.
Later on the guild contacted me and wanted to invite me back in but said I could never be an officer again. I said I would only rejoin to grief again and he cursed a bunch until he got bored and left.

Dear Halo Reach players, yes, I did blow up our tank with the Splaser, and yes, I did mean for that enemy team member to get on the Warthog gun while I was driving. Wanna know why? Because you're not MLG, so stop acting like your shit doesn't stink. With just two guys in a warthog, I managed to lead the enemy Blue team to victory, giving my benedict gunner at least twenty kills. You noobs couldn't even take out a single Wart with an entire arsenel and two tank spawns, so I hope after that thorough ass beating you learned not to talk down to me for being Lt. Colonel.

Dear Minecraft Players, lava all up in your house, your portal to the Nether destroyed while you were in there, that's what happens when you steal shit from my chest.

I'm sorry Garry's Mod players for spawning giant storage boxes in the air and dropping them on you.

I'm also sorry for screwing up a game of Simon Says in Jailbreak by shooting the last prisoner and starting a new round.

Does can flipping then destroying a jetcan with an estimated 2 million ISK worth of ore in EvE online count? If it does, i'm not apologizing; it's a lesson in why you don't jetcan mine in high population systems.

And to my friend Evans, who I played many a round of Space Marine with, I don't apologize for spamming blind grenades at you every chance I got.

Yup. Lots of noobtubing in MW3 and humiliations in Black Ops Gungame. I'm also a constant bandit on Red Dead Redemption multiplayer. I love shooting people's horses out from under them from a a mile away with the Carcano. I'm also a part-time battle MEdic in TF2. Only that's less griefing, because I'm actually a little bit good at it. I do have a specific Dead Ringer Spy I use for pissing people off. Being a Backburner Pyro camping enemy teleporters is fun, too.

I'm sure I've done it other times but the only instances that stand in my mind came from Tribes. The Renegades mod had remote detonated satchel charges that, if placed perfectly on the seam between a wall and floor (or any other such seam of world geometry) they were invulnerable to explosive weapons (including themselves). I used to put them in generator rooms on the generators themselves and then wait until the opposing engineers built their elaborate defenses. Then I'd blow up the generators. Then use the charge again and again to kill people as they came in to fix.

It was a fairly well known exploit and the only reason one would use them. It was also relatively easy to counter as any non-explosive weapon could easily destroy it. IT just happens that most of the weapons in the game had an AOE and were thus useless at combatting it.

In the same game/mod, there was also a suicide detpack. Because it was not possible for mods to add new items, the detpack was just a reused ambient work crate that said "Cargo". I repeatedly convinced a noob that it was an ammunition drop and killed him via timed fuse.

I also recall that in a game of Mag, the commander of our forces spent much of the game being a dick on VOIP. So, after the defenses had largely folded in spite of my squad holding our forward line and keeping the AA up the entire time, we finally got tired of him calling us various names. So, we hunted across the map for him and shot him gangland style. I'm not sure if that was griefing so much as retribution but his response was highly vocal and obviously annoyed.

Beyond that I cannot recall. I expect I've made people angry when I play but such is not my intent. I'm not sorry about the last story. The first two were jerk moves in retrospect.

Hmmm, maybe in League of Legends occasionally. Usually to the opposite team, I have to allchat a GET DUNKED at someone every once in a while.

Like today when this Jayce was being a real bully to my poor little Orianna (at level 1) by being a clever ***** and body blocking my farm and shooting me in the face every time I came in range. This was happening at the very first minion wave.

I tried to 1v1 him at the start, not a good idea, no. So with me on a tiny amount of health the guy decides to dive the turret... At level one. Full health or no it is never going to work.

He wasted Heal to try to prolong the chase and Flash when he realised that this was a horrible idea from the start and tried to get out.

GET DUNKED.

He then let Akali mid and went to bot lane for the rest of the laning phase. Lulz

I don't grief in the dickish ways like feeding on purpose. You really having fun just clicking the enemy base and watching yourself die over and over again? Fuck you sir.

Plus I would never question the sexual prowess of somebody's mother. That's something right?
lol yeah that kind of stupidity deserves a little greif.
Only time i really greifed anyone was this basterd on league of legends who bitched at me because i took clearity and teliport on my leona and we got a que skip, he then ends up on the other team against me playing the same champ only he has flash and ignite. it started out well for him and hes like "noob leona why dont you rage quit?! LOL!" then at the 10 min mark we fought against each other 1v1 and i trounced his sorry ass cause his dam vayne wasnt there to save him. yeah i was a bit bitter and i dont know exactly what i said but suffice to say even my team thought it was a bit much......

I've been an evil medic once or twice in TF2.

"THAT SCOUT IS A SPY! YOU! MEDIC! HELP ME!"
"JA!"
"Thank you, he keeps sapping my dispe-WHAT ARE YOU DOING????"
"OKTOBERFEST!!!!!!"
"...fuck..."

Counter-grief: I once filled a room in Minecraft with empty chests and made another room full of TNT above it. Outside I put a button to open the door and a sign saying "TheUnknownNoob's secret loot. DO NOT STEAL."

One day I came back and there was just a giant crater.

Serves them right.

I made a "lag switch" a long time ago. My god was it fun. The only time I ever used it was in a Halo 3 matchmaking game 2v2. My friend was AFK the whole game and I took on 2 people by myself. I finish the game 25 - 0 in less then ten minutes. The rage messages from the other team made victory all the sweeter.

I also used it from time to time in private games in forge mode whenever a friend was spawn trapping us.

But my favorite time was when I challenged 8 of my friends to beat me in a game of slayer against just me and my lag switch. I made someone run at me with a sword and killed him by lagging him off the cliff behind me. Did the same thing with a warthog. I won that game 50 - 8.
You'd consider that griefing?

Lag switches are just plain cheating.

Calling it griefing, you're trying to play down your cheating, to yourself or the community here.

My accidental griefing of that first alpha-Minecraft server? That, I apologize for....unintentionally set the water level above spawn...didn't realize it would cover the entire map and force everyone to lag out...

I have team-griefed in LoL....That I don't regret. Had the entire team play as tanks...and all of us took fortify. The game lasted over an hour. I played Chogath in mid. Don't really consider it true griefing though. Everyone was laughing about it, and we even got some gg's from the other team...if only for the fact that our terrible team composition held them for over an hour, and we had even pushed up to their inhibitors.

I grief all the time in mincecraft. It's so much fun.

One time, I blew up a guys house about a minute before he signed on.
Seeing a minecrafter react to hours of worked being destroyed is priceless.

I remember me and a bunch of randoms were playing Halo 3 Lone wolves. In the pregame lobby it said what map it was and I cant remember the name but it was super popular.

This little kid starts screaming over the mike "DONT VETO!" over and over which was so weird because it was a great map and a great gametype, nobody would veto it. Me and everyone else vetoed out of spite rofl, completely unco-ordinated griefing. Felt so good....

I've never griefed. I don't see a point to it. I play a game because I want to have fun playing said game properly.

I and one of my friends have booted many a player in Halo Reach.

Oh, you team killed one of us because you wanted the sniper rifle.....booted!

Oh, you think it is funny to shoot me on purpose to take off my shields so that I can get killed by the other team easier. Well I just used a grenade on myself so that your final shot team kills me....you are booted!!!!

It is obvious and definite "griefing" when they do such things when I'm having an awesome game. Great, got a killing spree and then a triple kill after that, time to go back to base quick to reload/get better weapon and come back out to try for the final two kills to get a killing frenzy, but then when I get back to base, a team member runs up to greet me with to melees hits to team kill me.

What is so insane about some of these people is that they then get all huffy and send messages complaining that I booted them.

Just recently, I was in a Reach "big team heavies" where two guys on my team were similarly named, but with a couple numbers deference, so obvious friends, but they weren't partied up. One of them kept shooting me on purpose and messing me up. So I wandered out into combat just at the moment he was shooting me, so that when an enemy took off my shields, the "teammate" got the final shot for the team kill. So, I rightfully booted him. Then his friend and another that was attached to his same console as a clone name, started attacking me, but not killing me. I of course used the same tactic and booted them as well.

Finally, only real players remained on the team. Of course, about 30 seconds after I booted the guys, I get, "so and so wants to play Reach with you". In Red Vs Blue fashion, but politely, I told them I didn't want to play with "team killing fucktards". Then a minute later they messaged me again saying they wanted to play. So, then I ignored them, and after the match I looked them up on the recently played with list and gave them both "bad reputation" reviews. Oh no! Now they don't have perfect 5 star records anymore....ha ha!!

I don't get people that do such things. Considering your avatar, it seems weird, but since I don't watch the show, I might have the wrong impression of it.

At least from experience from kids when I was in school, when they acted in such ways on the playground and sharing time in video game experiences, they were the ones that became delinquents, criminals, and high school dropouts. At least ones the ones that didn't have parents that slapped them up side the head when they were told of their child's acts.

So I'm guessing that a kids' show for such people would be:

My Little Con: Friendship is Malicious.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the fun in purposely ruining people's things and time. It's downright sadistic. It's people that do such things that make me stop playing games, or at least stop playing multiplayer aspects of them.
