I play LAN all the time, with DoW: DC, and with the new computer I have ordered, there will be plenty else to play.

I have been lanning since 1995 when we got a second computer in our house (playing warcraft 2). There was no other way to play multiplayer warcraft2 to because Direct Connect was epic fail when using a 1200 baud modem haha. It was real weird because in like 2 years we went through 3 different sorts of networks. Serial, Coax, and then normal ethernet (and by normal I mean like 1MBit, which was crazy compared to the new 14Kilobit modem we had upgraded to)

I remember 12+ man Halo 2 nights back in high school. Wires everywhere, shouts of profanity, people running downstairs to kick the asshole with the sniper rifle. Great fun, if a total sausage fest.

LAN houses are everywhere in Brazil, or at least used to be. I'd play Counter Strike all the time.

This is basically a PS/xBox vs. PC thing, I guess. I mean, I've never heard of anyone bringing their PlayStation or whatnot to a LAN party, though I guess it's possible, but it's standard procedure for PC gamers. At least for a few years ago. I mean, you only need like 6-10 people to play CS, or 2-4 people to waly WC3, so why bring in a bunch of anonymous losers when you can play with your friends? Split-screen is lame anyways, people are always ghosting you, and at a LAN there aren't any profane idiots with headsets, and no whiny kids (as long as you don't invite any).

LAN is better than on-line for lots of reasons all ready stated. Yes, I used to play LAN games all the time including Star Craft, DOOM, Quake, UnReal, ect. Lots of people these days just don't appreciate LAN parties because they have never been to one. I just don't go to them anymore because all my buddies moved away over time. Life is a ***** when you become an adult.

Every time me and my friends decide to hang out in one our homes, there is bound to be a LAN match or two. Everybody brings their laptops and we let the mayhem commence! Usually accompanied by a mountain of potato chips, cookies and sweet beverages. That, my fellow Escapists, is the way to do it.

Most of the time the game of choice is the ever so awesome Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, whether it be compstomp or pure VS, it will always be fun.

No lagging issues there, expect when someone has a rather old computer, whitch lags us all a bit. Even that problem is of no concern, as I have had a great time in every LAN gathering. Nor is there annoying players, as we all know each others....Though I hadn't had one in a while, I must do something about this.

I remember the good old days of playing Unreal Tournament with my friend over LAN.

He has two computers so I would go upstairs and he would go downstairs while we teamed up against a huge team of bots.

We kicked ass.

ive LANed quite allot in my days, it just cozier than being online, imagine that instead of this forum we where all gathered in a room watching movies, talking about thinks we liked and then once in awhile someone would come in whit an official announcement or review which we could all discuss thus ensuring we would never run out of subjects, wouldn't that be a whole lot better than this stupid forum *shakes fist at forum*

I love LAN games. My friends and I would go the the biggest house between us, and we would bring those small TVs and x-boxes, then promptly commence with the video game slaughter. Our Game of Choice was Halo 2. And if we got bored we'd do some other whacky stuff that more often than not turned out to be a bad idea. The Drinking Games with prune juice comes to mind... And we rarely had a dick player, mostly because if someone was deemed to be dickish, they would feel the wrath of the other players whilst asleep in their sleeping bag. Those were the days.
