i knew it right from the start, the old doom style FPSs were good at the time but have sort of worn out, and although i don't like the current trend of entirley brown CoD rip offs, i don't think the next big thing will be the big thing from a decade ago. also, i just don't like gearbox. i played borderlands and they made it out to be a fun game and look at all the wackyness in this FPS RPG. no. you just took CoD, made it browner and changed the art style. *slow clap*

A game in development for almost 15-years and has switched developers around 2-3 times. Did you expect anything more?

But, I think the demo's supposed to be satire and doesn't actually have anything to do with the actual game; like the Dead Space demo where Isaac dies. Although I have to give it credit for actually fucking getting finished after 14-or-so-years. And my brother has proof that he's pre-ordered it (Yah for the old memory lane scrapbook that my parents redundantly keep on the living-room-mantlepeice!). So, I'll give the full-game a try.

Oh, well, there's Elder Scrollls 5: Skyrim 'round the corner, maybe this year'll not be a total let-down for gamers after-all.

Expecting everyone to be pleased or not voice vocal concerns for a game that has been in development for 13 years is just silly. No one expected this game to be a groundbreaking masterpiece, and I think most of us would know that this kind of thread would pop up sooner or later.

I can tell that the demo has it's own good share of flaws - but it's the same demo they've been showcasing ever since PAX - totally unaltered. Most of the flaws I had personally are probably things that will be fixed by release since it's been a good six months since that, give or take. 2 weapon limit isn't really that much of a bother for me since we've become so accustomed to this norm that I can just deal with it - regardless if it's Duke or not. It's kinda made up with the fact that there's ammo and weapons everywhere. Regen health is also a non-issue for me. My biggest complaint was that I just wanted more of it - and for a game that's selling itself for having a 16 hour campaign I think my expectations will be fulfilled.

It's definitely a shame it probably won't be living up to it's development time once the game is ultimately released - but a competent 7/10 - 8/10 shooter that's fun and has it's own sense of progression, structure and personality, coupled with a promising multiplayer will be good enough for me. At this point I just want to have some fun, and I think the game will deliver.

I'm playing the Demo right now, and while I think the jokes are funny and I'm not cancelling my preorder, I discovered something... something horrible... Duke... He's caught on to INTERNET MEMES.
The end is nigh.
The thing that really bothered me though was the graphical glitches. I'm not a graphics nut, but the graphics were really buggy. I'm hoping it's just in the demo though.
I agree that Duke does die a lot, and I hope you like loading screens, because they are REALLY long.
I can't judge, it's only a demo, but my confidence in the awesomeness of the game has decreased a bit.
It feels a bit like most modern FPSes, but I hope that the atmosphere makes that much more manageable.

I hope all these haters did their research and found out that the demo is the over 8 months old PAX demo. Gearbox has already said the full game has tons of improvements that the demo doesnt have.

Also who the fudge actually bases a game off the demo. Demos are always trash with 50% of the features missing. After playing PC games for over 15 years I cant remember one demo that didn't make me almost not buy the game.

I had a feeling this would happen. I just knew it would. No game with this much hype can be as good as gaming community as a whole wants it to be. Part of me hopes it never gets released so that we can continue making jokes. From what I'm hearing that would be more worthwhile.
