Looks like the MPAA is fighting back after the successful blackout from two days ago.

This is bad news for us.

Threatening with money. This is all it's about isn't it... money?
Some people might even go as far as to say its what everything is about.

Well...I hope the MPAA is ready for a much larger backlash when the people who put them in business (i.e. regular, internet loving people) begin boycotting their products as a result of their greed.

Hollywood backlash?

What are they going to do? Flood the market with more shit movies?

Revenge: Michael Bay now directs all movies.

You aim too low, Uwe Boll!

Now THAT would be a threat.

At least Uwe Boll movies are unintentionally hilarious.

Pretty much my response!

"Oh no! Now I won't see even more movies!"

Maybe they'll raise the sequel ratio to 100% of the movie market.

Honestly, I think (with the aid of a less than legal substance) watching how Michael Bay would crap all over certain movies would be interesting.

"Coming this fall, a Michael Bay production... The Shawshank Redemption."

Can you imagine, instead of tunneling his way out, Andy Dufresne just blows everything to smithereens somehow? I'd see that.

DISCLAIMER: I don't do any drugs, but goddamn would I for that.

So this guy is pissed because a politician represented the will of the common citizen over the interest of huge corporations? Well that seems like a winning argument. I can see the support for his point of view just flooding in.

Noooo!

Dear Hollywood, stop putting out crappy movies, parody movies and stocking stuffers. Then we might take you seriously

They do have a point though, I'm as much against SOPA and PIPA as anyone, but piracy is a major problem for the entertainment industry. Something should be done about piracy, but the current legislation isn't the answer.

some might call that "obvious corruption", but those are ugly words. whow about "lobbying"... has much better sound to it isnt it?

Hollywood can rot in hell for all i care, i dont even watch movies anymore - and why should I, i saw all their tricks, they have nothing interesting to show as far as im concerned.

but yeah, Obama ought to be scared, i mean - he has already done some stupid shit to give himself just a bit of more % on next elections..... why not more?

I think the "Avatar was pirated 21 million times" argument would hold a lot more weight if it wasn't also the highest grossing movie of all time.

"Revenge" eh?

And you can somehow find it possible to do worse than the Green Lantern movie?

The only thing i think could possibly be worse than that is Ethan Frome: The Movie.

And where would they turn? All republicans nominees said they are against the bill as well.

So who cares?

Dodd, who became CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America after leaving the Senate in 2011, noted the movie "Avatar" was stolen by online pirates 21 million times. Such acts, he said, threaten to decimate his industry.
How can he say "threatens to decimate his industry" right after bringing up Avatar's $2.8 billion dollar box office gross?

The industry is not "threatened", they just want even more money than they already have. There is a big different between the two. They aren't going to stop making blockbusters any time soon, not with these kinds of record breaking profits.

If Avatar made $2.8 billion, then at $10 a ticket that's 280 million tickets that were paid for. 280 million tickets, millions of sales on DVD etc, and only 21 million downloads? It sounds like the real news here is that the piracy rates are so low, according to the MPAA's own numbers piracy is less than 10% of legitimate sales.
