All I did was read "Fox news" in the link and knew it was bullshit, stupid, and most likely mis information. Am I close?
No, it's been well known on both sides of the isle that if you piss off a former donor by actually following what the majority wants, they'll spend all of their cash next election cycle to get you out of office, as to send a message. Money controls politics, not people. *sigh*

"You can complain and say, well, actors make a lot of money and they don't have to worry about this," said Dodd. "You tell that to that camera guy, you tell that to that makeup artist, you tell that to that truck driver out there who made, makes a living because they work in this industry."
Wow, talk about completely missing the point. NOBODY (with a brain) who opposes the bill is saying actors already have enough money. They oppose it because it's ridiculously stupid in it's wording and allows for possibly HUGE amounts of damage to be done not only to website entrepreneurs like TGWTG, but also to big organizations like Google and this very website.

Dude's a moron. But sadly, he's a moron with tons of money. Let's just hope it's not enough money.

You do know that Fox News is rated the most trusted news outsource in America. Its DOUBLE the news rating of MSNBC AND CNN COMBINE. Americans rate both MSNBC and CNN trust worthiness very low.
Actually, no, that's completely incorrect, though you are right about CNN being garbage.

The real 'most trusted news source in America' is the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, followed closely by The Colbert Report.

Has been for years.

And Americans tend to rate FOX news' trustworthiness incredibly low, possibly because it is really really untrustworthy, what with being nothing more than a mouthpiece for Roger Ailes. Conservative Republican politicians have lately been trying to extricate themselves out from under it, what with FOX's consistent bullying of their own for bucking against the likes of Rush "Death Sentence For Drug Addicts PS I'm Hooked On OxyContin" Limbaugh.

Also because they actually gave Glenn Beck a program, and Glenn Beck is demonstrably insane.

Viewers of FOX news consistently rank among the least-informed in the county, followed very closely by the very liberal NPR's audience. Both, statistically speaking, suck at journalism.

Whereas Stewart and Colbert's audiences are the most-informed in the country.

Proven, mind you, by extensive polling and testing.

Funny ole world, innit.

(By the way, going off on rants about how people are brainwashed by liberal media outlets makes people not take you seriously, because that's a load of unwashed bollocks and everyone knows it.)
It really does say something when a comedy show is better news than the actual news doesn't it?

Oh, and Hollywood? FUCK. RIGHT. OFF.

I love this quote:

["I would caution people don't make the assumption that because the quote 'Hollywood community' has been historically supportive of Democrats, which they have, don't make the false assumptions this year that because we did it in years past, we will do it this year," said Dodd. "These issues before us -- this is the only issue that goes right to the heart of this industry."]

As if he thinks that he's on the "liberal" side of things. News flash, scumbag: YOU'RE BIG BUSINESS! The writers, actors, artists, cast members, film crew, storyboarders, comedians, directors etc. (not to mention the State of California as a whole being representative of that majority) are the "Hollywood support" Democrats usually count on. You, sir, are a bureaucratic conglomerate bristling with lawyers who couldn't take a poo this morning because of the several thousand sticks rammed up their collective asses.

Nobody but your employees (to a point), your lobbyists and the congressmen you pay off believe that you lost any significant revenue from one of the highest-grossing films of all time. And when you talk about the "camera crew" or the "make-up artist" who has to work SO HARD to make a living in Hollywood, you might not want to use, as your example, the movie that made ground-breaking achievements in COMPUTER GRAPHICS. Sure they still need "make-up artists" for the computerized kitty aliens, but those people are highly-paid and highly-trained CG professionals who pull in something to the tune of $70K a year no matter WHAT they're working on.

PHEW!!....sorry if that went on a bit, but there wasn't a comment section on the actually article so I had to vent here.

The American people got tier of the liberal bullshit from the liberal new media outlet.
Evidently, they didn't get "tier."

The sad part about the people that hate Fox News is that they don't know that they got brainwashed by the liberal outlet. They called supporters of fox news ill informed but they themselves never question the liberals news outlet that feed them liberal propaganda.
Liberal information like who attacked us on 9-11, who's running for President, Knowing stuff is both "liberal" and "biased." You have to be kidding.

I'm surprise to be honest that MSNBC or CNN still in business. Their rating is at the bottom.
Your own bias is showing.

Considering the state of the Republican candidates I don't think Obamas going to need that big of a war chest to fight the election campaign. I suspect he can afford to take this one on the chin.

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!

I'm sorry, I've been brooding over that reply all day, I just couldn't help myself. The temptation of that joke was too much to bear! *shoots self*
Don't you dare apologize, that was the PERFECT use of that line.

Wow, way to make it perfectly clear that you're buying your voice in politics. I really hope Obama flips him the bird, which is what it looks like from the early start campaigning. And then I hope he wins again, so that the MPAA has to sit on the bench for four years while they can't pull the sponsorship strings.

I'm so sick of these assholes having such a huge voice. Piracy isn't even coming close to "decimating the industry". It's just another market influence. If there's less money to be made, economics would say to spend less money. Maybe your lead actors really don't need ten million dollars apiece. If money's so tight, maybe Dodd or any other of those poor, struggling businessmen could sell one or two of their houses.

This is not about piracy for Hollywood this is about the fact that the internet will replace them. Creative people who make content and release it on the internet can appeal to a small core audience and make money doing it. Hollywood needs every movie to have a wide release to make back the millions they've sunk into it. The internet is everywhere on your phone, computer and television. Movies you have to drive to a location specific to just movies. Hollywood is an old system that is dying and is such a little part of the U.S. economy that we shouldn't care if it collapses and is replaced.
