HOLY HELL! Yahtzee to review FFXIII

It's March Madness and Yahtzee will bring the FF13 video...

I hope to god Yahtzee destroys this game.. And prove once and for all that Square should of quit after 6 when all there good members left... And the last 3 games have been HUUUGE HINTS that they should end there series.. 10 was shit didnt play 11... 12 WAS BIGGER SHIT somehow... And i guarentee you 13 is shit! I havent even played it but if it is anything like there last 2 games well then i have no hope what so ever for it.. 9 was good.. A bit too childish but it was a definite step up from 8... 8 was terrible! 7 is so over rated.. Its like the first halo before halo even came out.. Its so mediocre but gets such high praise. 6 is the best one hands down.. 5 never played it.. 4 was good... The DS one is meh tho.. 3 was shit on the Nes or whatever it was on but the DS one is much better.. 2 was terrible! 1 was the worst!

It's not like he could ignore it. First off, it's the first Final Fantasy to come out while he's been doing reviews (that I know of). It's professional obligation. The editors at The Escapist probably asked him to do it. Either way, I don't care. I'll watch it anyway.
im not surprised that he's reviewing it at all. He's reviewed a few JRPG's and i know that he's going rip the hell out of Final Fantasy XIII but im still going to watch it and probably laugh to. I knew he was going to review this because at the end of his Borderlands review the comment at the end said "Now hopefully i've shut the fanboys up, at least until FF XIII" so he was giving a hint that he would probably review it.
I think the review itself will be rather amusing (though it won't sway me; I don't care how much he tore it apart, Valkyria Chronicles is awesome. It helps that some of his points indicated he didn't get far), but I will be hiding from the massive flame wars/anti-JRPG threads that will result.
Hmm let's see he's going to say it's bad that you can't control your team mates, there's way too many cutscenes, and it's too linear. Oh and maybe harp on the characters a bit (which is a bit tough to do since they're very dynamic as the game progresses so does their personalities)

ZP isn't enjoyable when you can pretty much CALL all of the criticisms and jokes Yahtzee is going to make, hell, I'd even put MONEY on a few of them.
Yahtzee will...
- Severely criticize the linearity, and he won't be wrong about this, it's a legitimate criticism.
- Make many, many lame jokes about Japanese Art Design. Yes Yahtzee, WE KNOW you don't like Japanese Art Design.
- Jokes about the terrible aussie esque accents of Vanille and Fang.
- Gender Ambiguity Jokes about Lightning and Hope.
- Lots of jokes about character names (Lightning, Fang, Hope, Snow etc.)
- I'm pretty sure he'll comment on the Jargon Heavy Nature of the plot.
- He'll rip the combat to SHREDS seeing as it's basically turn based.
There we go, the review in a nutshell I think... unless he REALLY tries to stretch himself, but I doubt it. While Yahtzee does turn out many gems, FFXIII will draw so much of his ire that it'll be a phoned in rant-a-thon with very predictable jokes that he's already made in several other reviews.

I watch EVERY ZP, so it's not like this one is going to be some kind of revelation. I watch reviews for platform-exclusive titles on systems I never plan to buy ever. I don't imagine he'll have anything in there that will change my life, but he's got a lot of cool things to say about design philosophy. I bet it will be hilarious? And spot-on.

Ehh... That's something you don't actually see often. Persona 4 is one of the only examples that comes to mind. Even when it's done, it's done in an obvious "this girl is trying to act like a boy" kind of way.
